That’s a large pump for the pool with the salt system. That pump probably is a lot of energy.
Not much at all, I think 6.00 a month. It only runs about 12 hrs a day, 6 and 6 every 24 hrs.
Witch Piaa model is it?
That was the best tutorial that I've seen yet about that in text size pool. Well done my man well done I've never bought a pool before but that pool I bought last week and I was curious on several things. The skimmer was one I didn't want to cut the pool. And the other thing was could I use the spare pump that spare pump that came with it because I did upgrade pumps when I bought it use it for the vacuum. Thanks a lot well done my man well done😊
You are welcome! I’m on season 6 with my intex pool, possibly the last, frame finally rotted out from the salt water. I may upgrade to the newer version that doesn’t rust, we will see.
@gggarageVW69 keep us posted 6yrs wow
The prices are back down now. At least on Amazon
Looks like year 6 will be the last for my index pool frame so I’m looking for a deal on a new one with the upgraded frame.
I was looking up how to test these alternators and found this . 🆒 Some of these alternators had the external regulator, which is what I’m working on for a fella. I think the 74’s used these, not sure. These have a 3 prong plug connector on the alternator that goes to a solid state regulator. Wanted to confirm if the alternator was bad or just the regulator. And that distributor is what is called SVDA. Best distributor to use for these period. The 009’s are for industrial applications with guaranteed flat spot when revving off idle. I also put a Petronics ignition on mine that works great. The point systems are great too, but the new replacements are crap and the condensers are even worse.
Typical stock VWs have a generator and external regulator, starting around 73 and also available aftermarket are internal regulated alternators. Good info, thanks for sharing. No perfect distributors but you want to find the ones with vacuum and centrifugal advance for best chance to remedy the stumble during acceleration.
FYI I did watch a video about the sand filters and heard them say that many people make the mistake of covering their filter pumps. They claimed that it would cause the motor to overheat and eventually ruin the pump. They claim the pump is designed for the outdoors
Ive not experienced any pump issues on any just the sensor plate for the salt system that generates chlorine. They are junk. This year I gave up and started using chlorine tabs and a floater. The storage box I’m using is very large and keeps the sun off the system no different than most in ground pools have.
Seems a little big for a motorcycle even for GS,I have the same color 1150 good bike.
You should see how tall my new triumph 1200 is!
Looks great!
How are the legs holding up?
Year 6 and at least one is rusted out.
Hows the aeroflow work
Seem to work and hold up well, they were already on the bike when I bought it. I’m actually on a newer adventure bike now, 2020 Triumph Tiger 1200. Nice bike other than some of the fancy electronics are a pain, like the keyless start.
Thank you
Where did you get your roller for the pool cover?
It’s an Intex part that I ordered off of Amazon. I actually don’t use it anymore and this year I left the pool uncovered and the pump running all winter and everything was fine.
I bought a Vevor roll up garage door opener. I didn’t take into account that the shaft was too short to attach the opener to. Can you supply me with the instructions on how to duplicate how you rigged up your opener ?
Cheap 99.00 opener, a piece of L steel, square steel and a handful of nuts bolts and washers.
What state are you in
NC
I just bought a 69.. trying to get the turn signals to work. Hazard lights function.. so tomorrow, I might see if the issue is the switch itself by bypassing the switch. If so, I will take it apart and see if cleaning the contacts in the switch fixes the issue. If not, buying a new switch is in the future for me.
Many times it is a switch, or simply dirty contacts on switches or fuses. Clean and tighten everything. Make sure your column has a good clean ground.
The Bowden Tube (inside the Tunnel) broke away on my 1971 Superbug - back in 2004. I really like your simple solution, in accurately cutting a small slot for the broken end of the tab to be welded so easily. Far better than cutting-out a large section of the Tunnel. However, not everyone has a Stick / MIG Welder. I fixed my same problem in a completely different way. I simply located the position on the outside of the Tunnel, marked this position, and drilled a single 3mm hole. I then lowered a piece of 12mm thick rubber down the Emergency Brake Hole, and then wedged this piece of rubber between the Bowden Tube - and Tunnel Inner Wall. I even cut a half-radius slot in the rubber - to better cushion the Tube. The 3mm hole that I previously drilled - was to place a Self-Tapping Screw through from the OUTSIDE of the Tunnel, just to hold the Rubber Block in its place. 20 years later, my Beetle is silent, and this was the easiest fix!! The broken tab (inside the Tunnel) is the most irritating sound when pressing the Clutch pedal, but my rubber block idea ensures silence, and that no damage is done to the Tunnel, or your pride & joy. The Bowden Tube is in its' most natural position - when it has broken away - so leave it there! Greetings from Australia.
Greetings! I’m glad you got it to work without welding! The problem we encounter here in the rust belt, once the middle tab breaks it stresses the front tab near the pedals and it breaks, then the rear breaks under the back seat, clutch tube slides forward and clutch chatters because you no longer have the Bowden tube deflection.
@@gggarageVW69Thanks for your comment. I didn't know that things could get so serious, where you lose all of the Securing Tabs, which leaves the Tube to "float around freely inside the Tunnel". My thoughts on doing the repair (using a rubber block) was to kill those vibrations which come from the engine, possibly stressing the remaining Tabs. Like a shock absorber. Three Tabs is not much - considering the length of Clutch Tube! On another note, my Beetle is vibration-free (since 2019). It is running an electric Hyper 9 Motor, and Tesla model S Battery Pack. It's like driving a new and different car! The Clutch Tube Issue is a real annoying problem, and so I offered my solution here. For all of the people who may not have the specialist equipment - such as welding / grinding tools, this rubber block idea is worth trying. Greetings from Australia.
The steel building suppliers should offer this, along with seals around the perimeter.
what a worthless video
Great technique 💪
Great, I am doing same one, got about 9 months of work left on it.... but great job. love this 1969 convertible...
It’s a lot of work but well worth it in the end. I’m currently working on a 69 Westy Camper!
Thank you. They make a little hand held electronic device that will test the salt level. So far so good with my intex 12 x 24. Mine is on concrete in a screened cage, so likely less debris to remove. Single pump .75 / 1.5hp switchable. In addition to normal pickups & airator , have skimmer & water feature. Getting enough circulation to keep green from growing in corners even with chemicals correct has been biggest issue.
Thanks I’ll check those out
I agree I love mines have had the carport s over me and moved and decided to do two bay garage your the man and everything looks great
Thanks!
Nice stock looking engine
Thanks!
Looks like you are going for that stock look.
Yes sir, keeping it stock with some patina for character!
@@gggarageVW69 I have a 1969 Westy too. But going for a little more custom touches. Mostly patina though.
I had a fully customized, lowered 64 deluxe sunroof bus back in the 90’s when they were worth basically nothing. I’m gonna get around to making a my history with VWs video at some point. I’ve had it all including a 51 euro split window sedan. Just sold a couple of cars and picked up my Westy for 6k, which I think is good with today’s prices. I’ve got everything new except headliner wood panels ready to go back in. Then I’m camping!
@@gggarageVW69 yeah I remember when bays were worth nothing. I got my for free.
Where do you get these prices??!! The pool hasn’t tripled. It’s up 50%. The salt pump is 1/3 of what you said. Nice setup though.
Covid prices, things are back down now for season 5. I need to film another video, just replaced the pump again, under 300 bucks Amazon.
Hello there! 15 years ago I bought a '68 Camper as my first car and ended up breaking it because I didn't know how to take care of things (dumb teenager syndrome). Now that I'm older and care about taking care of my things, I'd like to take a crack at fixing it and taking care of it this time. Would you happen to have any documentation or diagnostic stuff you could point me towards to figure out why my generator isn't charging my battery? I am interested in upgrading to an alternator like yours, but one thing at a time, I suppose. I did notice another comment mentioning a burnt bulb, so I figured I'd give it a try. In any, thanks!
I’m currently rebuilding a 69 Camper, I absolutely could help you diagnose your charging system, let me see what I can find for you. I could also give you a call to assist.
@@gggarageVW69 Appreciated! While I'm visiting we're trying to at least diagnose (I'm here for a week). It turns out this thing is in pretty sorry shape and we ran into a lot of problems. I think it's a bit much to type into a RUclips comment. Maybe I can grab an email address or something?
Yes sir geraldgregory@hotmail.com
Beautiful set up 👏🏼 Love the banana trees ❤
I’m here because my clutch tube is loose in my tunnel. Going to try this way if repairing, thanks for the great video.
Easy fix give it a try
Great work very helpful info thanks
Great job man
I did the same thing with my 16 x 10 roll up, used the Chamberlain 1 1/4 hp belt drive. The noise I hear from mine is the door skin settling in as it rolls up.
I've been trying to find someone who has done this with this size door. Any issues opening?
So far, so good. It’s lifting from the bottom corner of the door so it’s a bit wonky but it does work. The opener comes with the 8’ track so you need the 10’ track kit. From there I used a section of the 8’ track as a bar that I bolted to the bottom edge of the door, added a 3/8” eye bolt and connected the opener with an S link.
Would ya look at that. Ed Bassmaster.
Where did you get the pool light I can’t find one at all
Intex pool light, Amazon 71.00 in stock
This was awesome.
To get ac in there did you insulate your garage? I’m in Florida and it would be pointless without insulation
I used the foam board sheets between the wall and ceiling before applying the wood or metal wall covering. You could do the same with Sheetrock. It’s only about an R-12 insulation rating but it works. The metal building can retain a lot of heat if you don’t have some sort of insulation barrier. Good luck!

Well done video…
Had my 69 Vert since 79….love it!😊😊 Beautiful !
Nice! I have a 59, same color as well. Yours looks awesome!
Thanks, slowly making progress on it, life gets in the way sometimes.
Legend!
genius!
Not sure if this has been mentioned already in the comments, but besides doing insulation (to make it quieter) you can replace with a belt drive model garage door opener.
Great idea!
Thanks for sharing this! I'm getting ready to purchase a metal garage and your video helped me with the opener part of this design as well. Great idea!
Who built your garage? What company ? Thinking of going with a steel building in near future thanks in advance
Eagle garage, lots of distributors, I used a local one here in town. Look up eagle garage for your local installer.
Beans
Nice Ideal but you have to open both doors every time you want a door open. Now you can get roll-up door openers for under $200.00.

Ingenious solution. I wonder how well it would work with only one door attached.
It would work fine with one door. I should have used a longer bar on the bottom edge.
You didn't have to reinforce the body in the door openings? How'd you keep the front, middle, and back of the car together and aligned?
Convertibles have lower reinforcement rails, if they are in good condition then no support is needed. You can check by jacking the car on each side and see if the doors have any deflection. Mine was solid, no brace needed.
can this pool be placed in a large concrete floor garage? What problems do you think I would encounter?
No it needs a 4 inch soft base, sand
@@gggarageVW69 ok thanks
