Hello, Even Realities have open sourced some aspect of the source code. How are future new apps "installed" onto the glasses?
can you make a video about nosepad adjustment? it still hurts my nose /: i was trying to make it wider from the distance but also dont want to break it
Basic translation converts to text then they translate it in the cloud. Pro translation skips converting to text and sends the audio to the cloud to be translated directly and returned.
With the open source announcement I think there will be more possibilities to show health data from your other devices health trackers!
@@marcbollmann yes! There are endless possibilities, and I'm so excited to see what people create!
So many topics you could have covered: Assume you ordered online? How long between order and receipt? Are these prescription glasses? (farsighted or nearsighted). Does the prescription see accurate? You mentioned you had other glasses but you didn't note if you got prescriptions in these but I assume they are...but you didn't mention if you got the prescription in these. How far down can you move the image/text (e.g., so that it is in the middle of the glasses). Looking up, as you did, is really obvious and somewhat weird in a conversation...e.g., Are you rolling eyes your eyes at what I said? It would have been helpful to cover how to interact with AI and other features on the phone through the touch pad. What about the memo feature? etc. etc. Obviously there is a lot to cover but clearly the what you like and don't like will take time to discover so that probably should have been covered in a subsequent review. This is really kind of a first impressions review..and it might have been good to just cover the full set of features and save the likes/dislikes to a later point in time when you've had time to really use them more...as it sounds like you'd only had them for a few hours before you did the review. Yes I know you said you've done tons of advance research but that is different than actually using the product. I'm jussayin...
Teleprompter not working properly is definitely a bad thing. Imagine you're giving a presentation and you are banking on the Teleprompter working and it just stops working. How embarrassing would that be. And while we are on the Teleprompter how would you restart it. Do you have to stop and talk to AI or open your phone to restart it. That could be very disruptive in a presentation. The devil is in the details.
Yeah it doesn't often do that, and they've pushed updates to fix bugs since this video. The AI doesn't turn on features or restart anything. It's exclusively an LLM. You'd have to start/stop/reset from the phone app.
@@Levi---q7p Good to hear they fixed the Teleprompter. Also allowing the AI to activate features of the glasses would be a very nice feature. Hopefully that feature is coming.
Can I write text in a Simple text application like notepad or vim
Yes you can, just as I can run around and dance whenever I please. Not sure what you mean here.
@@Levi---q7p I think he might have been trying to understand if you must use Even Realities app to create a note or could you use 3rd party app like notepad to create the note. I presume you could use any third party app but you'd probably have to cut an paste it into the Even Realities app for the note to appear on the glasses.
@@Jetter638 you can upload a pdf into the teleprompter. People do it for books sometimes
@@Levi---q7p Thx. Good to know.
When you press the button and ask questions, how well can the glasses capture your voice? For instance, will a soft whisper or murmur in a quiet library be captured?
I've never had issues when I use it. It's always able to infer exactly what I've said in really any environment or volume level. It's very impressive.
@@Levi---q7p what about the live translation function? What is the subscription cost annually or month-to-month? Can I subscribe or cancel at any time?
@@yl9739 you pay by the hour
Wondering if you can sing and the teleprompter will work and AI detecting your words as you sing
It sure could, but it wouldn't be able to recognize any songs.
does this allow using a ring type device instead of the back of the arms to control it?
Unfortunately not, but there is talk about possibly adding an API for developers to link their own control devices to these. That would be off in the future by a year or two at least, though.
Thanks for the review! My biggest concern right now is that this gadget is made in China. Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against Chinese people, but I just don’t trust the Chinese government, especially when it comes to respecting privacy standards like we have in the West. The developers of these glasses might not even have a say in it. I’ll probably just wait for some competition. Maybe Meta or another company will come out with something soon.
I mean they're pretty clear about absolutely everything that is built into these glasses and how they operate. The company branches out to many European countries that directly sell the glasses in retail stores, so there's obviously a level of trust already established there that likely wouldn't exist if the government were involved in the making of these glasses. While I understand the concern of safety and privacy, the vast majority of the products we use, whether we know it or not, are manufactured and shipped from China. They're one of the world's largest suppliers to the rest of the world, and especially the United States. I can't speak for you, but I'm not a war criminal, and I don't have any secret plots to overthrow the Chinese government, so I'm quite certain that I'm not a prime target for any government to listen in on or "track", and I would be considered no more than a waste of time to them. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if any of the future Meta smart glasses are also manufactured in a foreign country like China, either, so it's not like it would be that much of a difference if you went with these vs another brand.
Is there still a hint of tobacco throughout all the flavors? Like the crisp menthol?
nope!
Do these have 3dof or the displayed content follows your gaze rather than staying fixed in front of your view?
@@SomeJohndoe it's fixed and does not track your eyes

Your glasses are both black and brown, right? I cannot find that colourway on the website. What is that about?
@@Mojo_DK it's the brown color. The sunlight just makes it look black sometimes
Would you say I should wait for Gen 2?
@@Mojo_DK there's a new design coming out in the next couple months with will be the G1-B. These are the G1-A. So I don't think they'll be coming out with a second generation any time soon, but they are coming out with a different look. If you're willing to wait a few months, it will give you a new design option to choose from. Otherwise, it's a solid product and I highly recommend it!
Should I wait for Gen2?
What's the difference from brilliant labs frames
@@marcozuniga8008 1. The brilliance labs frames suck 2. These don't
I may have missed it in the video, but do you get text (readable in glasses) and missed calls notifications in the glasses? Thats a lot of why we have to pull out our phones. I hope in the future they add a conversational LLM w/audio, and transitional lenses. Even if it makes the slightly bigger.
Yeah all notifications (or at least the ones you allow) will show up in the glasses, including texts, incoming calls, and missed calls. It's been nice to not have to open my phone all the time and still be connected in a sense. I would eventually like to see a combination of the meta smart glasses with these once the technology improves to be less bulky for speakers/cameras.
Will recommend cutting the music once you start talking. Can't hear what you're saying clearly. EDIT: Also, you need to move your mic closer as your voice is too soft. The Shure MV7 series of mics need to be 6" or less from your mouth for optimal sound and volume. Otherwise, you have to push the gain up. The short pick-up range of this mic is why I returned mine a week after buying it, and got a shotgun mic instead.
Thanks for the update. I hope they will provide SDK for software devs, so that we can provide more useful futures independently.
@@DigitalDesignET they actually plan on adding an API in the future where people can modify their dashboards!
hmmm when the even ai dont create the story maybe try aks for " tell me a halloweenstory about a bunnyboy and a nekogirl locked in a haunted mansion with a evil baron and its ghouly minions" so the even ai is a lil more forced to generate a own story instead of taking one from the web which already exists. you can also ask for a list of bad jokes or a creative fantasy poem without thinking to much about the correct words by yourself, like the witch gruntilda always does in banjo kazooie n64 game and roasts the player during the game with smart rhymes and poems calculator for dayly work/life only some ideas

@@australianlink Shipping times will vary based on the color you order and the country you reside in. It took 1 month and 1 day for mine to arrive since my order date. Then again, I preordered, so about a week of that time was spent waiting until they actually started shipments. If you live in the US, so it should only take a couple weeks to arrive. However, I'm not entirely sure how long it would take otherwise. Some people have mentioned delays for their orders being shipped to the UK.

Hi Levi! Thanks for the detailed review, really appreciate it. Question for you if you don't mind. Can you use the AI to translate output? Eg. Ask the AI "How do you say How are you in French?" and see the output in the lens? Thank you!
@@mercershannon that's a great question! I just asked the AI your prompt, and it was definitely more educational than anything. Plus, having a history of learning French, I would say that it was a pretty accurate response. Here's what it responded with: In French, you can say "how are you?" using several phrases, depending on the level of formality and familiarity: 1. **Formal:** - "Comment allez-vous ?" (to ask how someone is doing, suitable for formal or professional settings). - "Vous allez bien ?" (a more direct and formal way to ask if someone is well). 2. **Informal:** - "Comment vas-tu ?" (used with friends or family). - "Comment ça va ?" (a common, slightly informal way to ask how someone is doing, often shortened to "Ça va ?" for a quick response). 3. **Colloquial:** - "Ça roule ?" (a very informal way to ask how someone is doing, often used with close friends). - "Ça baigne ?" (another colloquial way to ask how things are going). Understanding these variations will help you accurately convey your question in different social contexts.
Not sure if my comment sent or not so I'll say it again. Good review Levi, liked and subscribed. I just had a few questions about how song they are. Are they bendy and have you dropped them? Last thing is want is it but it then accidentally sit on them then they break.
@@louipatterson8108thanks for your support!! They are very lightweight and durable, as they are made out of magnesium. If you drop them, the most that will happen is a light scuff that you could probably buff out. I have not sat on these and I don't plan on it so I can't give you a realistic outcome for that, but I would definitely be more careful with these since they can get up to $750.
I am curious about the actual weight of the glasses. Could you weigh them? I can’t seem to find that on the website. I wonder how heavy they are compared to the meta raybans.
I don't have a scale, sorry! I will say they really aren't that heavy, maybe like 50 grams? It's just that having the weight centered on the bridge of your nose can cause irritation if not adjusted properly; that was kind of the main point of that section talking about the weight.
Rayban Meta - approx 57g G1 - approx 44g
@@ArchSoren thank you. I felt 50g was a little bit of a high estimate now that you mention this. I also compared my G1s to my other pair of regular metal frame glasses and they felt almost the same weight.
Do these happen to have a zoom function? Or text scan? Or is it audio only. I use glasses but even with them theres words i cant read from afar and need a function that would fix that
None of the above. There is no camera or any zoom functionality to these lenses. Otherwise they'd end up looking quite bulky.
UPDATE ON THE DEAD PIXELS: They have gone away! They were previously only in my left eye, but now they seem to not have any dead pixels in either eye. I honestly have no idea what was causing the issue, but I'm happy to report that it's kind of fixed itself, which is something I never thought I'd say about a dead pixel. Anyways, I just thought that you guys should know that. :)
maybe it was just dust in the lenses because i was also thinking about having a deadpixel but in my visco arcade display and returned it and they say it was no dead pixel it was dust on the other side from the display.

Imagine these glasses integrated into Google services, and, with Google Gemini. Basically Google glasses with this design and screen solution. And sound. 😂
@@brandon_youtube haha that would be awesome. Even Realities did actually say that they're planning on adding an API for customization, so who knows maybe that could actually happen?
I think it would be cool if they made it so that all of the features are on a selection wheel when you press and hold a button. Then you could move your head to the feature that you want to use on the selection wheel, and the glasses would open it up.
@@scottfree9784 yo I think this is one of the best ideas I've seen yet. Probably the most intuitive design while also not having to implement a new physical button or something. They already have a button, plus a gyroscope.
The Even Realities support website has a lot of useful information, and they keep a log of known issues and fixed issues. The good thing is they focus on fixing bugs and are already updating the app.
So based on your use of notes to show your daily schedule, seems there is no compatibility with calendar apps to show your schedule and remind you about meetings? Seems a big miss if not already a feature or on their roadmap...
I’m praying that by the time they ship them to me, they will implement a timed task reminder feature that can have reminders added by voice. “Remind me in 30 minutes to unclamp the catheter” is what I want to tell the glasses
This already works on android it can show your calendar upcoming event and also in my calendar app I set reminder notifications for the event I get those too through the notifications on glasses
@@chrish8056 so I don't have my work calendar set up with my glasses because it's a big hassle to set up work apps on my phone. Otherwise, it would directly show you your next event in the bottom left corner. You can see in the pictures of the heads up display that mine says "no upcoming events" and that's simply because I don't have my work calendar on my phone. Otherwise, it would display there!
@@LeesReviews69 I think they have that on their roadmap, as well as timers and other clock features. I wouldn't hold my breath, but you could even contact their support or DM them on Instagram with that feature suggestion, and I'm sure they'd definitely consider adding it in the future!
@ItssVenom thanks. Makes sense, dont put work email or cal on mine either. I have my work cal events sync to my Google cal so then should work, very good to know.
There's a lot of green reflection in the lenses. Do people not express annoyance at that as you're talking to them?
That’s the antireflective coating. Any normal pair of glasses has it. Unless you mean the hologram. That is kind of annoying.
@@MrCoffis Yes, the hologram.
@@jason_v12345 so, I'm glad you pointed this out. Since my phone camera was set up at a lower angle below me, it hit at just the perfect angle for the camera to see it. In normal use, no one would ever see it, and in fact, I have to tell people that they're smart glasses, otherwise no one would be able to guess that they are.
@@jason_v12345Hologram is a misnomer term in this case.
I want to know what it looks like from above. Im tiny, so will everyone towering over me see green?
Thank you so much for taking the time to make a follow-up video after a couple of weeks with the glasses. As someone who is considering these, but is currently a bit scared by the significant investment (and potential that I wouldn't use them as much as I think), hearing the honest, raw opinions of someone who has spent time using them daily is such a huge help. Especially since most people who have reviewed these (most, not all) were just riding the hype train of the launch reviews, and haven't actually made any follow-up content about it.
@@mattm7220 Thanks so much for your comment! I'm so happy I've been able to help you see inside my daily life of using these glasses to see what a realistic scenario would be. I know it's a bigger investment, but I personally justified it by saying that it probably wouldn't be much different in price if I had bought a new regular pair of glasses with prescription (without insurance of course). You know, I think they do allow for insurance to cover the prescription cost too, so if you contact their support (or better yet, DM their Instagram page), they might be able to help take that extra $150 off! Worth a shot, I suppose.
❤ Awesome, again a great review about the practical use of these glasses! Thank you very much. I’ve got the same impressions as you have about all the items you captured. One question. The problem about one glass sleeping, how did you solve that. Only my right glass is there always, most of the time the other one is not visible!
@@emileheilbron9707 glad you enjoyed! How long does the device last on a single charge? And is there support for the Russian language?
@@wilbertandrews in my experience, it's been just about 2 days on one charge. Also, yes but I've seen that the Russian font is not great. I think they'll be updating it soon so I wouldn't let it hold you back from buying them.
If you are using the teleprompter feature, how would it look from the other side (i.e., person facing you)? Would they get a glimpse of green text scrolling reflected on the glasses?

You can use software to remove the ums and make your eyes look like they’re looking at the screen while you read. Or you can use bullet points and fill the rest in by yourself. If you have a lot of them in real life too, remember that silence is ok. In reality, you don’t need to fill every second with sound. Practice a few times and get comfortable with the idea. It’s hard to eliminate entirely, but just keep the idea of “silence is ok” in your head. Thanks for doing so much research on those glasses.
