The Arleigh Burke destroyers have a crew of a little over 300, and you can really get to know most of the crew. USS Cole was commissioned a year before my ship, USS The Sullivans. When ITCM was first coming to the Fleet in the early 90s, women were not allowed to serve in combat ships until the Combat Exclusion Law was modified in late 1993 to allow women the option to choose combat ships and aircraft in 1994. USS The Sullivans was the original target of the terrorist, but they had too much explosives on their little boat, and it sank. USS Cole was the unfortunate alternate target. Bravo Zulu (congrats in the Navy) to this incredible crew for saving the ship. (Submarines were available to women in 2010, and one of them eventually became an astronaut.)

Around 45:27 Hundreds of minority servicemembers HAVE DIED for a country that discriminate against them. That's historical fact. I don't believe America is "inherently" racist, but it has been and still is racist. Embracing the ideal of justice and equality is foundational to our nation and at the root of DEI. To be conservative in that sense, is adhering to those original ideas and furthering them, not just protect the status quo.

This was a very good podcast; I really enjoyed Mr. Beliles's knowledge of the law, military, and on sexual assault cases. Ben is informative, intelligent and an all around great human being.
