Happy memories of the North Wales holiday resort of Llandudno in 1965.

A nostalgic look back at a trip on the Norfolk Broads in the late 1960s.

Surprisingly little has changed in the 38 years since these shots were taken on this car journey through Coventry in 1986. Only the cars look dated. We start at the War Memorial Park and proceed along the Kenilworth Road and onto the ring road where we join Gulson Road and down to Binley Road.

During the steam era on Britain's railways many trains replenished their water supplies 'on the move' using water troughs situated between the tracks. Here are some of them in action.

An unusual view of the railway at Doncaster taken from a bridge just north of the station on 12th November 2003. Firstly we see an express leaving for the north followed by the south bound arrival of 66221 on an 'up' merry go round working.

Back in 2003 there were still large swathes of Britain's rail network yet to be festooned in ugly palisade fencing. Here is one such example at Cliffe just south of Tamworth. The engines on show that day were, 66708, 60010, 56115, and 66525.

The date was October 29th 2003 when 66715 backed its train out of Mountfield towards the main line. It is then seen speeding through Robertsbridge station on the first leg of its long journey to Drax Power Station in Yorkshire.

After the east to west rail link "over the top" at Nuneaton closed to passengers, the line became freight only and was known as 'The Nuneaton Avoiding Line'. Around thirty years later it was decided by British Railways that the line was surplus to requirements.

By the beginning of the 21st century the Folkestone Harbour branch railway had been reduced to a shell of its former self. These shots were taken in May 2004, by which time just the odd train was visiting this quaint outpost.

Known as the Weymouth Harbour Tramway, this short stretch of railway was unique in Britain as it ran through the main streets of this Dorset town. Used in its latter days for trains to Portland Harbour, the line had a regular timetabled service until 1987. However, the writing was on the wall by this time and sadly the branch didn't survive.

In the third of our series we hear from another WWll soldier. Bill Cairnie joined the Royal Northumberland Fusileers in 1938 so saw action throughout the war, and even beyond. Rescued from Dunkirk, he went on to serve in both North Africa and Italy.
