Making A Rocket Engine From Thermite And Batteries
After working with several thermite mixtures it became apparent that a making a rocket engine was possible. Tearing apart D-cell batteries to obtain the impure manganese dioxide, and mixing this with the known powerful thermite mix of manganese dioxide and aluminum, provided an unusual but rocket fuel-like mixture. Then making adjustments to get just the right ratio of each component had to be done. Just look at that thumbnail.

I thoroughly enjoyed your video right up until the end, when you used the Challenger accident for some unknown reason. I watched it on live television with twenty other people in the student union at ISU. Before the launch, the astronauts were considered heroes, and everyone admired Sally Ride. But we saw them die, and none of us ever wanted to see that again. Even so, everyone -- seriously, the whole country -- immersed themselves in the graphic reports that NASA released during its investigation. Everyone was shocked by the incompetence and corruption they uncovered. Never use that video again, and when you figure out why, you'll be a better person.

    • @cranialconstruction2218

That wasn't the Challenger accident. Compare the two videos and their clarity. It was a launch that was aborted by either Rocket Lab, Rocketdyne, or Space X and took place around 2 years ago. I can't recall right now as I have many aborted rocket launch video clips that have taken place over the last 10 years. It was unmanned. Over 500 rockets are launched per year around the globe and some of them are off course and are self destructed. I agree with the rest. Using Challenger would be of great distaste.

Had an iron crucible inside a coal stove, and was melting some aluminum in it, but it has scum on it, so I stuck in a heavy copper wire to stir it. This immediately started the most brilliant fire which I had ever seen. The mix burned through the crucible, burned out the iron grates of the fire box, and was only stopped when it hit the concrete base, on which the stove was parked. This was for a school science project, which I never repeated.

Remember that pressure induces head, and that pressure is force over area. Consider how small the contact area for two non deforming spheres is during a collision.
