The truck type mini is a mini jeffy truck very rare
Yes one of them was rear wheel drive another one with the lights on the front was a sports pack mini cooper with 13 inch wheels one of the worst things thay did was put 13 inch wheels on a mini made them drive terrible
Can't beat a mini iv had about 10 or 11 maybe more still got a mini van had pickups a mini clubman estate another mini van a cut down mini shorty there great fun
Looking good your improving all the time. Hope knee op goes well .take care keep going
Thanks for the good wishes. I guess you watched the latest episode to know about my upcoming knee op - or you have spooky foresight. Also thanks for finding this episode, it reminds me how much quicker and easier it was to fix the same problem when I made the same mistake 88 episode later
@classiccarclips3292 yes u did I commented on the wrong episode...best wishes
good job man
Good to see progress 🙂 Keep up the good work mate 😎👍
Brilliant I love your videos .car is looking great I like the way you show everything even when you fuck things up
@jamescoxall322 thanks. If I didn't show my fuck ups then they would be pretty short videos 😉. I am not getting paid for this so I might as well be honest.
@classiccarclips3292 iv found it very interesting keep going can't wait to see it finished
@@jamescoxall322 It is getting close. I spent an hour before work today filling the pin holes in the filler on the wings and bumper. I can almost see the end of 'fill,sand,fill,sand,fill,sand....'
Moving forward Nick, thanks for the advice ref the 3M Glass bubbles.
Thanks. I hope the expoxy and glass works for what you want to do. I am glad someone is getting something useful from these videos :-)
I really like custom made cars, yt show me your video. I really like the ds and the 911. Not sure i like the mix of 2 but i wish you a lot to finish it as you dream!
Well done WCA, it’s taking shape nicely.
Thanks - hoping to finish the details quickly now. Just had an idea on improving the airdam which might featurei n the next episode...
Great update
Thanks. It feels like the end of this first, and most time consuming phase is in sight. The next few episodes will (hopefully) see big steps forward
Looking good Nick, keep pushing forward.
Thanks! Making progress on finishing the bumper, wings are pretty much there. Hopefully get all the buck complete in the next episode.
Nice work 👍 I am using the same resin from easy composites 😎
Cheapest place I could find to get reasonable quality. When mixed with the glass baubles it forms a really nice hard surface you can sand really smooth. Loads of white dust when sanding but hopefully it will be worth it.
@@classiccarclips3292 yeah they have some good products. Good to know🙂 I have not used the glass thickening bubbles before 🤔 I am using the moldless carbon fibre method 👍
Excellent video, thanks very much for taking the time
I see your useing a lot of celetex sheets of foam there is a company in long melford near Sudbury Suffolk that sell 2nds there a lot cheaper and thay deliver.
Thanks for the info but I think (hope) I won't be using much more from now on. Worth knowing in case I do though.
Nice, I am using polystyrene sheets on mine 🤔 was the cheepest stuff I could find since I splashed all the cash on carbon 😂
@@UKBUILT I will check out what you are building if you have the videos up. I used polyurethane (PU) boards from B&Q rather than polystyrene as I was worried the resin would eat into it. Also PU sands to a nice smooth finish. Only a little more expensive but I hadn't realised how much money this project would eat! Good luck with yours.
@@classiccarclips3292 yeah makes sense, I am using a release film to prevent the foam melting. I am following easy composites guide for moldless carbon fibre parts. Yeah I decided to record this one, I am new to youtube 😎 Yeah they can be costly things to make but you will have your dream ride when it's done 😍 Thank you for your support👍
@@UKBUILT I have watched the video of the sled being made many times and was 50:50 between making bucks and a mold or going for mold free. I decided to make to molds so I could learn the process, this is my first time doing anything like this, and hopefully it will make it easier to go back and repair or modify when things go wrong.
Looking good well done keep going
Thanks, will do!
Love watching this your very funny
Thanks 🙂 I keeps me amused
@classiccarclips3292 great to watch very interesting to see your wins and fails .
@@jamescoxall322 Like and subscribe if you haven't already to see many more wins (and fails)
This is fantastic to watch
I enjoy making it. I have never done anything like it before so it is fun learning.
Couple of observations, in the spirit of constructive criticism. The DS has a single, almost semi circular curve to the front end, when seen from above. It doesn't have corners. Would you be able to scare up a pair of bumper halves, fit them and then work the shape back from that point? I feel like the hard corners on your car are doing it no favours. I think the DS headlights are more swept back too. You're car has more of an XJS thing going on at present. My 2cents, that you didn't ask for. Feel free to ignore.
Your comments are most welcome and I agree with the points you are making. I am doing the bumpers right now. At the moment they have quite angular corners because they are just 2 straight bits of foam joined at an angle. I plan to round them so the sweep around the corner rather than jut out. You should see those in the next episode. The amount of headlight sweep is partly limited by the Porsche donor but I think once the headlight inners are in place it will look more correct. If you check out Vlog 25 at about 1:35 you can see a genuine DS I went to look at for reference. When you get up close and start measuring things, you realise it is a lot boxier than it appears as it glides by. Thanks again for the comments and please continue to share your thoughts.
Will you do anything to the rear end ?
I am really not sure at this moment. The original plan was to change the back end as well but this car is in a lot better condition than I expected to be buying so I don't want to start cutting panels. Having said that, there is still quite a lot of scope for modification by simply removing tyhe rear bumper and replacing the engine cover and spoiler. Did they make a Ducktail DS?
quel massacre
Peut-être devrais-je passer ça à la radio ? ruclips.net/video/WG7igu11C-Q/видео.html
Thumbs up! the important thing here is materials and methods that are widely applicable to many projects. Also important is the actual doing and that anything is possible, even if this is not a car the majority of us want.
I am building it mainly for the experience of building it and as long as I am happy with the result then the world is a wonderful place. You can count the f*cks I give about the haters opinions on the fingers of one leg ;-)
Love your hackjob. Keep on going. btw. ever thought about shortening the front a bit to get the lights at roughly the same position as the original? This would keep the original side silouette of the porsche. (except you like the current state of cause).
If you watch back a few episodes, or the compilations, you will see that I drastically shortened the distance between the front wheels and the front of the car already. If I try to get the lights further back then they will have to go higher, as the originals were, and I will lose the DS nose style that I am aiming for. It is difficult to get a proper side shot to show it properly because it is stuck on my drive and there is limited space. With the camera so close, it distorts the perspective quite a bit. I might try and drive it near to the road and get some better all round photos once the airdam, wings and bumpers are basically done - hopefully next episode.
Yes , it really is taking shape nicely now, well done WCA. Nice Zappa reference too 👍
:-) I try to drop a few little 'easter egg' comments to keep people listening
Liking the longer video...coming along nicely now!
Thanks - as you can probably tell, I am not really used to this whole RUclips thing so really rely on viewers comments. I will aim for 10-15 minutes rather than 5 - 6 for the next one. I have just looked at the car in ther dreary rain and seen all I need to do to move forward. Nice comments help keep me motivated.
I really love your project. Combining the two designs is epic. As over all proportions are essential to good car design, i would love to see a view from the side of the whole car.
Me too, but my fame and fortune hasn't paid for a new house yet so I am stuck for space. I will try and get something sorted for the next episode though. Thanks fort he feedback, always appreciated and more comments are welcome.
Fan-bloody-tastic, cock-ups included.
Thank you. It makes all the carbon fibre splinters worth while. They are as painful and metal swarf splinters - but lighter and cooler :-)
Why are you using a 911 for this? Looks like a fun project and you look talented but seems like you are just going to destroy the cars value.
The project is about fun, not money. The original bonnet, wings and bumper are in my loft so can always be refitted if necessary to sell it. You are right that I could have used almost any donor but the 911 seemed to be 'right' to me. I am lucky that I can afford to waste my money like this rather than in other ways but it is never meant to make money. It is Art.
There's a reason car designers do this part out of modeling clay on a scale model of the car
True, but they also have some way of taking the scale model and scaling it up. this is a similar reason that I didn't use CAD as I only have a toy DS and a full size Porsche. I did a number of pencil sketches and it looked okay with the wide front and side vents in front of the wheel arch but when I looked at it in reality it just looked wrong. I guess I have to live wite the tools I have but I agree with the idea that scale models would be easier to change about before building things.
Theres definitely 3d scans of both the porsche and Citroen available! @@classiccarclips3292
Making a porch look like a old Citruen, now I’ve seen it all! That front dont look good with the back, the back is to round! Hope you do some fabricating there to!
The original plan was a full rebody, but when I got a good 997 instead of a knackered 996, I didn't fancy ruining the bits I couldn't unbolt and replace. I know what you mean about the sharp 'beak' on the front but hopefully by raising it and creating a new, different air dam I will get a morte harmonious shape. I really am learning and making it up as I go :-)
Would it be worth getting your hands on a scrap DS wing to use as a point of reference, or even chopping up to blend in to your buck?
I did think about this originally, especially for the headlight, but the DS wing is the wrong length, width, height proportion between the door and wheel arch, wheel arch and bumper and any other dimension you can think of. Plus they are about 4 X the price of even a Porsche wing but thanks for the suggestion.
This design is the weirdest shit ever. Love it. Looking forward to the finished car.
Weird shit I can do. It is normality I struggle with.
Stay positive WCA 👍
@waynekerr5645 thanks. 7am the very next morning and I am working on the headlight support design. 😉
im about to do a big scary paint removal on my mustang to see what the damage is underneath wish me goodluck. also thanks for the update videos, they are great i am learning alot
Good Luck!! Don't be scared about starting with a coarse grit, perhaps 40, to shift the bulk of the material if you are planning to skim and repaint but try not to get to the metal. Once the top stuff has gone, drop to, perhaps, 80 to remove the last bits and get rid of the 40 grit scratches. When you are building it back up with filler and primer then block sand with 80 to get it flat, 120 to get rid of the 80 grit scratches, 180 to get rid of the 120 grit scratches, 240 to get rid of the 180 grit scratches, 400 to get rid of the 240 grit scratches...... Did I mention that sanding takes ages?
@@classiccarclips3292 thank you , appreciate the tips. it is working in my favor that sanding gonna take ages i need to spare up some money for other repairs
@@MexicanBatman Yeah, I know about the money challenges. Saving for an engine rebuild/upgrade to add a bit more torque while trying to fund the consumables like bloody sand paper through my art work NicksArtStuff.com Not enough money, not enough time and too much sanding 🙂
Beginning to look not too crazy.
Sort of, thanks. Remember that this is the plug from which I make the moulds, from which I make the panels that I then have to fit to make the car... :-)
The ever popular ‘coke & hookers’ excuse, well done WCA, it’s getting exciting.
I’ve always had my doubts about you WCA 😂 Keep it up, well done and all that.
Much appreciated
Hey there my friend. Keep up the good work, I’m loving seeing the Citroen immerge from the foam.
Thanks 👍
😂😂😂 love the quote "old fashioned abuse". Keep it up, loving your crazy work. I did mention it on the 9WERKS Radio podcast last week 😊
Thanks - If you want to come down and have a proper look around some time, just let me know. Probably worth waiting until there is more to see than foam and dust though.
I just thought - share a link to that podcast and we can cross promote like the proper social media giants we aspire to be. Then just wait for all that free stuff I was accused of getting to get delivered to my door :-)
Great work WCA. It's actually starting to look, well DSish
Thanks. I think so too. I have spent several hours since then getting the left wing together and am pleased with how it is going. That will be in the next episode along with, hopefully something more than hours of bloody sanding
I thought this was about some covert fascist organisation!
Well done WCA, it’s coming along isn’t it? 👍
Yeah, I am a bit happier now. I have just come in from the dark having spent most of this evening adding more foam and then cutting/ rasping and sanding it back off the other wing. If you want to see a video oif that lot, let me know, otherwise just watch this one again but in a mirror :-)
Don’t despair WCA, you’ll think of something.
Thanks. It is just after all the bloody sanding and filling and then taking a rip saw to cut it up, but this morning I have a cunning plan, I think.
@@classiccarclips3292 Ah you see, a good night’s sleep and all is well.
Great video, thanks! I just removed the opposite one (no fuel door, drivers side on my US car). As you'd expect there were some minor differences, so I have couple notes: 1. Where you had a carbon box I had the windshield fluid tank. If you drain this out before you start, you will end up drier than me. There's a 13mm bolt right at the top of the tank, then it just wiggles out like the box you showed. Same grommet attachments. I was able to keep all the lines and wires attached and get behind it to unbolt the 3x 10mm bolts you show. 2. I was able to get a box-end wrench (spanner) onto your "bastard nut" without taking the radiator off. I brought it in from the back, and got the box-end more or less vertical to sort of pry one side under the end of the bolt, while pulling down on the radiator vent / housing with my other hand. Once it was around the bolt it was captive which was nice. Still a huge pain cause you can only get maybe 1/8 turn each time you put the wrench on it...but I eventually got it. It's not clear whether this method would work on the side with fuel, as it may be obstructed. 3. After I got everything unbolted it was still attached somehow, and it took me quite some time to figure it out, but there was adhesive foam between the tub and fender in the area of the top T30 bolts (left side of your pic at 0:30). Once I figured that out I just got everything else good and loose and then levered it up from the side, then used a utility knife to cut the adhesive the rest of the way. It's not clear to me why they felt this necessary after they already used 1600 torx bolts in that general area.
Great comment, thanks! This will hopefully now help people taking either side off. If you want to see what I am doing watch the teaser (ruclips.net/video/PlGSR6w2_hI/видео.html) or follow the vlog : ruclips.net/video/Q_RImHd5mQI/видео.html

Not sure what that means but sorry to see a sad face. If it is a reference to the Citroen SM, I loved the idea but I never really l liked the front end styling as much as the DS
