I like the idea of having a go-to emergency quilt. If you have the pattern, fabric, batting, backing, and thread at the ready many of your decisions evaporate. I also loved your suggestion to substitute the word “inventory” for the word “stash.” It’s much more elegant. You create the t-shirts and I’ll buy one!

Thank you so much! Sometimes I hear about a worthy cause, but there's not enough time for me to make a quilt before the deadline. This pattern is perfect. So handy to have the yardage for so many sizes.

I haven't sewn on my handiquilter in more than 8 years. Should I do anything to it before I get started? I live in rural Wyoming, not near any service area. I have the oil kit from Handiquilter for inside the machine. It was professionally oiled just before I packed it up 8 yeras ago. Thanks.

Instead of my "stash", I like to say I am shopping in my own "store". (And it is so convenient that my "store" is in my sewing room.)

You are right! It’s not cheap to make a quilt!

I completely agree with your comment that the recipient doesn't care that its a simple pattern. People are so touched that you made something just for them. That has been my experience as well. I am also not super experienced at quilting, so the simple ones turn out better!
