Actually while watching this movie i had been blaming her not running away from him.. because i thought he definitely did worst thing as a human.. but the movie said in the ending part victims are never to be blamed which makes me an awareness that i m ignorant.. i really sorry for her and wish she could be saved.. may God bless all the victims with domestic violence 🙏 😢

My father in a nutshell, minus the SA part (on my end at least; I can’t speak for my mom). The invalidations and comments are daily. I know he’s evil and it was never my fault, no matter how much he blames me for…everything. The outbursts are constant. This last time he screamed at me I wanted to leave him at the place where he goes to have his truck fixed (he’s a truck driver, an industry crawling with narcissists and abusers). I regret driving him back home and doing the doormat thing. If I did the actual right thing and left him I might’ve had a moment of peace. But I’m also lucky; I have a way to leave even if it’ll take a few years to execute. For some that’s not even an option. I feel for those who can’t leave. My heart breaks. You deserve better. You’re worth so much more than what the abuser does to you. It’s their fault, not yours.

Gisèle Pelicot's case in France. Right there! The only difference is the mass rape in real life. That's mind-blowing!!!! These things really happen in real life to real people.

That's exactly what was happening to that lady in Europe. Her husband would drug her to abuse her and had more people to join the abuse. She never had a clue about it and she started to think that she was ill.

They slowly lead you down the path until you think you’re crazy… they are charming and even generous around others at the same time making underhanded remarks about you. The plan is to break you down and have everyone around you see you in a different light. A major part of the plan is to distance you from everyone you love. This and other films should be shown in schools.

I've never been physically abused but I did date a guy for years who was emotionally abusive. An expert at gaslighting and completely at ease liar, there were times I thought I was losing my mind. All forms of abuse is horrific but, the emotional abuse by far is so terribly hard to get through. We're our worst critics in our head, we don't need a loved one to make us feel isolated, alone and confused. Life is hard enough without some asshole messing with your head. As far as physical abuse? If someone hits you, leave immediately. Just run. They don't ever change.

I was mentally and emotionally abused by my X boyfriend who was a Narcissist and he blamed me for everything and he was driving me insane with his abuse to the point that I started hitting myself. Because he had me believe that he was the victim and I was belittle and he was on top of the list . It actually took me five years to leave him and he left me scared and to the point where I no longer wanted to be in any relationship. Finally I learned to love myself again and that I was the victim. Today I’m happy and I love life and I’ve been single and independent.

These types of films make the control and gaslighting so much more obvious than it actually is, which given the timeframe is necessary to drive the plot forward. But in real life it's so much more sneaky and underhanded it leaves you wondering if what they said was really wrong, or if what you did was wrong. It will make you absolutely crazy. Literally crazy.

Domestic abuse is so insidious that the victim can actually believe that they are crazy and being judgmental. The victim oftentimes blames themselves for the arguments and non cohesive behavior between the partners. My husband tried to alienate me from my own mother, best friend and first cousin. I fell for it and then I didn’t. If you think for some reason, even if by doubting your situation makes you feel silly, call the Domestic abuse hotline! Abuse is not just being physically beaten. It’s harder when you can’t put your finger on why you are losing your friends, the closeness with your family and your sanity. Call the Hotline for Domestic Abuse! They will enable to help you see your situation for what it really is and help you. Do not let go of your family especially if someone tells you it’s for your own good. Alienation makes you an easy Victim.

I spent three years with a man just like this. Got in a terrible car crash, lost my memory, my ability to finish my sentences. He insisted I was always this way. He was in the car ahead of me when it happened. He saw how bad it was. I fell into unconsciousness and pulled myself out of it just for him. Breaking up with him over text was a kindness. He never deserved me.

This reminds me so much of my ex-husband. He tried to alienate me from my friends and family. He would start drinking early in the day on a Saturday, and if I didn't join him, he would call me boring and a lightweight, guilt me, and keep badgering me into drinking. Then, he would get drunk off of his a$$, but yell at me for drinking so much and being a lush. Then the physical abuse would always arise when he was drinking. But, it got to the point where he would abuse me when he was sober. After 5 years, I decided to leave and never look back. Thank God we never had kids together. I am now married to a wonderful man, who I love very much, and he treats me like a queen.
