I finally played Half Life Echos by your recommendation and the two guys who ranked Half Life mods and my God, y'all weren't lying, it IS that good 😲. It genuinely felt even better than actual Half Life 1 in a lot of aspects, it was so peak 😭🥹. My only complaint is lack of proper final boss and it did drag slightly near the end and with overuse of the location. Also hate how this mod of all Half Life 1 mods didn't get it's own steam page, why?

Should've included Swelter, a better version of Snowdrop with way less puzzles.

After playing both downward and year long alarm, I can say that its not really fair to lump both of them in. Thats simply because year long alarm isn't near as good compared to downward. Year long alarm feels like a pretty primitive and inconsistent mod whereas downward feels almost masterful with its level and encounter design. also play minerva metastasis if youre reading this, best mod ive ever played.

theres a amazing mod called transmisson elemet 120

The early part of echoes feels very resident evilish, it helps that the mod uses change zombie behavior to make them more sluggish and slower to respond to player movement like for example the zombies in some of the better RE games along with allowing barnicles to eat them like in two which is a thing i noticed a lot of players and reviewers don't notice.

For some reason Arctic Adventure seems to have a rendering Problem, either it's the Steam release or Some strange hardware glitch That is consistent enough that it shows up But also, I've seenIt run just fine for some people.. and it's and it's like a nightinday difference when it's not working VS when it is working... For instance, those vehicles actually have reasonable, even decent texture work, Yet for some reason, if You have the cursed version or the cursed Specifics in whatever is causing it.. They basically show up as a morpheus blobs, like it it's almost like it's the specular Or some sort of layer in the rendering pipeline that is Clearly not the correct layer... And if you look at a play through of noclick or Bolloxed, You can see what it's supposed to look like... And immediately And very clearly Whatever is going on isn't Just some random source style complications, But a fundamental Disconnect... Granted it it makes things a little bit worse than it seems The creator.. At least at the time... From what I could gather, was assuming that the problems people were talking about Were problems with the properly working version... Hopefully by now they have figured it out LOL, But it seems as if the steam version, regardless, Is still cursed, Be it either a bad upload, Or a fundamental rendering technology No go for a certain PC set up... So... That's kinda lame, but then these are also The people I guess that worked on overcharged... So if ever there were people that, amongst a community that is not known for its people's skills, Had possibly the worst of them.... that would be the overcharged people. It's unfortunate because there's a lot of really solid stuff underneath... And if they weren't so childish and paranoid, constantly crying about people stealing code... Which is based on code that they modified from somebody completely else, Based on code made from a game companyIn the early 2000s LOL... Commonly using assets, created by other people, regardless of how modified... Well if that weren't the way that they seem to approach things, They might actually be able to have some sort of collaborative effort with Anyone in the modern community, or The target audience for what they're trying to release, And they could maybe work some of these things out LOL. I'm not sure how much of this is a language barrierDisconnect, and maybe things got off on the wrong foot at some point... Combine that with you know just the general Bad attitude, And a strange sense of self entitlement, One that sadly is becoming more and more commonIn both gaming and theModding community, As the years go on... But either way... the plug and play version of the mod Made for people that don't understand how to mod, and is supposed to be theHit the button and play release, And is your most public facing release, and again most public facing amongst those that would not understand what could possibly be the problem or are willing to put any timer effort into solving any problems... Which..Is what you're going 4 with a steam release LOL. you're you're making it for those people LOL... Like yeah... You're gonna have a bad time with the feedback on that lol... It's a shame, Should have could have would have though LOL... It seems there's a lot of fundamentally contradicting Aspects to how they approach things and people That I don't really seeThese things changing ever for their half-life modding endeavors... And again it's a sad waste of talent, that can't be talent Because they're too stuck in their own head, To actually overcome the Problems that They create for themselves, And thus, will never really Be able to actually Properly Reach potential or even the basics of it.... Don't get me wrong I would very much like to be wrong about that.. And I'm always wishing for the best with anyone, So nothing would make me happierIf in a year or a couple of months or anything really, in the end They overcame... I want to make an overcharged pun now... But i'd like to be wrong about a lot of things.

Weird choice to include Echoes but not include Field Intensity... I have major issues with Echoes. The problem with that mod isn't that it's not a great game, it just doesn't feel at all like a Half Life expansion. The aesthetic of Black Mesa is completely altered in Echoes and it doesn't really feel like Black Mesa at all, it's like it's own thing. The graphics just don't line up with the other HL1 games. I think it's really good in it's own right, it just doesn't fit into the series the way I'd want an unofficial expansion to. Field Intensity is a totally different story. That mod feels like a legit actual lost expansion to HL. It has a bunch of new features and added detail while retaining the vibe and aesthetics of the actual HL games perfectly. It literally feels like Opposing Force 2. It's also a very long mod so it ends up feeling like a fully fledged game which is amazing. It's so good that from now on when I do a full series playthrough I include it as an official expansion because it just captures the essence of the series and Black Mesa flawlessly. I don't think Echoes is bad by any means but Field Intensity just kind of blows it out of the water and IMO is the best HL1 mod ever made.

13:46 Not sure what's happening there! It almost looks like the map is trying to use the "Fullbright" setting. I don't think the game showed a user interface because you never ended up wearing the HEV Suit. Putting on the suit it is scripted to input the HUD. You can sometimes force it using sv_cheats 1 than cl_drawhud 1 command. This is happens with older broken mods and the HUD not loading.

I was happy to experience Entroy Zero 2, I somehow finished the game on the harder difficulty with frame drop is critical battles. Guess I'm too used on HL2 combat thanks for my infinite hours of playing around with the npcs. O even got a trophy for keeping a squad of 5 combines alive, I had to KEEP them inside to avoid conflict while I deal with the jet pack rebels myself just so they stay safe. "From Earth" is deffiniteky something I never heard of but curious to experience it. In fact, some of these mods I never heard of, guess I have a new list to try t some point in the future........ One day..... For what's left of my other Half-Life.

2 big things you might’ve missed about Restored is that vortigaunts can now resurrect each other and there’s a whole new enemy: the Human Sergeant. He carries a mini gun, and you find him in Surface Tension in the cave with the RPG. The mod also makes some nice changes for speedrunners, like removing the bunny hop speed cap.

20:00 looks like motion reprojection might be halving your frames. I'm assuming you're using a Quest (2?) for PCVR, which has a refresh rate of 72 (by default.) 36 is half of that.
