      Not sure I fully follow your question, but usually a flash and microphone wouldn’t be both powered by the hit shoe. Flash would generally connect there for control, but the mic would plug into the mic in on your camera and be powered by battery. Not sure that helps!

    I don't really like the case of this nvme SSD, it is held by magnets and in tranzit if you drop it in water, it could damage the nvme SSD and also the USB type-C male tip, should be longer, something like 11 mm, to use this nvme Drive with tough smartphone cases.

    Poor design, why on earth is there a male USB sticking out of it? It would be more useful if it could take other drive sizes.

    • @TomFrickerPhoto
      @TomFrickerPhoto 3 месяца назад

      I think the inclusion of the male USB port is a great idea. Means the drive can be used on its own with no other accessories or leads, can just be plugged straight into a device and you are good to go. Also when using with a smart phone the drive is held securely in place by the USB C port. Other drives connect via mag safe, but this one leaves that open for another accessory, such as a power bank.

    • @edism
      @edism 3 месяца назад

      @@TomFrickerPhoto I always have access to a cable, that male plug is a reason for me to avoid it especially since it risks damaging it's own plug, pcb or the host device's socket in a manner that cables wouldn't. What I want is encryption and the ability to accept a full size nvme drive (WiFi/Bluetooth mini NAS functionality would be a bonus).

    • @TomFrickerPhoto
      @TomFrickerPhoto 3 месяца назад

      The fan is certainly the addition. I haven’t bench marked this against an enclosure without to see if there is a performance difference with prolonged use. Maybe I’ll try that and publish the result. Thanks for watching.

    I got mine through Kickstarter. It works great, but the fan on mine is definitely noticeable. It also likes to spin up even if the drive is not actively doing anything. • @TomFrickerPhoto
      @TomFrickerPhoto 11 месяцев назад

      Hi! Totally agreed - I’ve heard a few folk comment that they thought different sized cables made a difference to the speed their devices charged! Reality is that consumer cables are all pretty short in the grand scheme so there should be no perceivable difference. So I thought I’d demo that fact! Maybe if there was a 100m amazon basics cable available we’d see a difference… strangely they don’t sell one of those!

    • @Lee-vp8vs
      @Lee-vp8vs 11 месяцев назад

      @TomFrickerPhoto yes, I think you would be in the 100s of metres range before it would be noticeable, depending on the output of your power source.

    • @AJU1313
      @AJU1313 11 месяцев назад

      @Lee-vp8vs so what you're saying is that the resistance only matter if the wires would be 100 meters plus?

    • @fsbayer
      @fsbayer 11 месяцев назад

      @@AJU1313Yes - and the reason why is fairly easy to spot if you look at the underlying formulae: P=IV, I=V/R, R=ρL/A. If we substitute them into the power formula, we get P=V²A/ρL. The A/ρ part is fixed but V can increase to a point (230 V AC mains voltage can be safely rectified to about 350 V DC), and as the ratio between voltage and length in this equation is V²/L, a proportionately smaller increase in voltage can compensate for a larger increase in length. Voltage only needs to increase tenfold to compensate for a hundredfold increase in distance. If we want to figure out the theoretical maximum length of a wire for 60 W charging at the maximum voltage of 350 V, we can rearrange the formula. The resistivity of copper is about 1.77e-8 Ωm, the cross-sectional area of one of these wires is about 1.99e-9 m². L=V²A/ρP =[(350 V)²(1.99e-9 m²)] / [(1.77e-8 Ωm)(60 W)]≈230m Of course, the *real* maximum is lower because the real world doesn't have perfect conditions, but you can see that 60W charging doesn't run into problems from resistance until you reach the hectometre range in terms of distance.

    • @Lee-vp8vs
      @Lee-vp8vs 11 месяцев назад

      @AJU1313 it all depends on the power output of the charger and the length of cable, as there will be a formula for it. There is a difference between a simple voltage measurement at the end, and a devices efficiency at charging if there is a voltage drop. That depends on the device and any inbuilt tolerances for protection from under/over voltage while charging.

The thickness of the two parts that make the main part of the mat up is far greater than others I have owned. Also, the build quality is very good, for example the stitching that holds the leaves together is strong and very neat. I would say that this is sold at a premium price, but I think it does constitute a premium product. Cheers

      Ah yes … sorry, input signal is the same. Reading about the Viltrox, not sure it has the same support features with regards to focus and exposure etc, they aren’t mentioned on the website. Either way, sure they are both great, I haven’t used the Viltrox 550 so can’t really comment on it. The Osee is great and I have used that.

    There's a major issue with this desk mat, it coul've been the perfect desk mat if it included an apple watch charger instead of the airpods charger. Most people working at a desk don't use airpods, they have a headset.

      Hi! I guess that an issue with a watch charger is that it’d be specific to Apple where as the headphone charger works across brands. Also I think a lot of folk (myself included) charge their watch overnight on a bedside stand. The best would have been to have all three! Thanks for watching

      @@TomFrickerPhoto Yes sure, all three would solve the issue without taking out a feature that some people may be interrested in. I personally work from home, so charging the watch during the day allows to wear it at night for sleep tracking.

      The watch charges so fast, I just take it off while getting ready for bed and by the time I’m actually in bed it’s fully charged

    How is this against the Viltrox 550 Pro?

      @TomFrickerPhoto Год назад

      Hi - I’ve not used the Viltrox 550 pro - I did have a quick look at their website though. From what I see there is a touch version which comes in a little more expensive than the Osee, but it’s not 4K, only HD (1080). The website also didn’t mention any focus or exposure tools either.

      i have used it and accidentally used 5v type c with different voltage. broken less than a month. no warranty because it was physical damage as they said. try other monitor insted. the big dial on the left is annoying too.

    can I use this monitor with an NP-f100 Sony a7riii battery?

    • @TomFrickerPhoto
      @TomFrickerPhoto Год назад

      Hello - apologies for the delayed reply. I think the A7RIII uses the NP-FZ battery (same as my A7III). In which case no, it won’t work. This monitor uses batteries such as the NP-F970. You can get them from third parties such as neewer very cheaply. Hope that helps.

    is the upright rod removable from the desk mount/clamp? if so what threads does it use?

    • @TomFrickerPhoto
      @TomFrickerPhoto Год назад

      Hi! No - the mount is welded to the upright pole I am afraid. You can’t separate them. Thanks for watching.

    5 09; 5 42;; ... for photography in monitor for some reason not in full scree viewing as when camera in Video mode. In video mode displayed in full screen and all setting you can adjust in camera screen which is ON also. Same in my monitor... I prefer if in both (movie AND photo) modes monitor displaying in FULL screen.. Thank you for nice talking ideas.

    If a monitor turns off the camera screen, how would I tap to focus on a face for example?

    I've had the tripod 4 years ago. I accidentally forgot the tripod at my mother's back in Florida when I moved 2 years ago. I almost went ahead and purchased a new tripod. Thank goodness my mother never went to my old room and saw it there. I now have my tripod the 1 feature I had no idea that it existed was the center column that goes up😲. I'm glad I have it, and I have no idea how much it cost at that time
