On Board a Zentralbahn Train Heading Down the Brünig Pass
When you take a train between Interlaken and Lucerne, you will travel across the Brünig Pass, which has its summit at 1,008 metres (3,307 feet) above sea level.
To conquer the steep gradients of up to 12%, the narrow-gauge Brünig Railway features four sections of rack rail.
This is the view from the final downhill section of rack railway, as the train heads downhill from Lake Lungern towards Giswil.
As the valley widens here, there are sweeping views over Giswil and the surrounding countryside, with the mountains taking on a more gentle appearance compared to the high, craggy peaks around Lake Lungern.
