Steambow M10: Dangerous Failure IMPORTANT UPDATE !!

Hello, dear viewers! Today, I’m sharing an updated video about the test I did with the M10 upper and the risky takedown pin. I realized that I didn’t provide enough information during the original video, so I’m here to offer more details and explain why I approached the test the way I did. I’ll also share an update on my recent communication with my dealer and Steambow. I hope this video helps ...
Steambow M10: Takedown Pin Failure During Firing Simulation!
Welcome to another video about the Steambow M10 upper! After posting this video, I realized I didn’t need to pull the upper up at all. I could have just pulled the trigger with the safety on. If the takedown pin fails, pulling the trigger with the safety on will cause the upper to be pushed up. Ironically, the safety in this design actually makes it more dangerous. In this video, we’ll be testi...

Steambow - M10 upper - Honest review - DONT BUY BEFORE WATCHING THIS!!
A honest review about the newest steambow upper that holds up to 10 bolts and has a exchangeable magazine: the M10. No sales pitch from the manufractur, shops, paid influencers or steambow fanboys and girls. Steambow claims that the M10 upper is safer and for all situations. Is this true? Or could you possibly and up with a very expensive polymer stick that you can use to hit people over the he...
I agree in wath you say,i have the new revo 7 and look like have some bug like your's,i whrote to my sealer and he told me i was the only one who have thoses bugs (3), but more the time pass, more i can see video about the revo 7 and discovery other bug, i paid more than your's because i m stupid but hope i will be able to resolved all of the bug because i like this gun
Do you think Steambow may have been sabotaged by Poe Lang?? Making time friendly yet sub standard products on the cheap, and charging full production costs?? Granted, it should have been picked up quicker. But I did hear about Steambow returning product as it didn’t meet standards. This was soon after the first batch of them sold out in UK.
The video could have been reduced to 8-10 minutes, far too long and bad Video Editing . And Steambow is lost .
Interesting! Not much of that content available for us here in "non-UK Europe" ;-) Good luck! I"ll keep watching ;-)
I replaced the body pin with a M6 thumbscrew. Just make it finger tight, it won't fall out.
" Not for self defense," what are you talking about? It's a sharp piece of metal, no it's not a cold steel, but it's small and stealthy. Knife fighting is ridiculous, or don't you know that? 😳🤣 Not a great review, grow up and try harder.
Ridicilous or not. You might not plan to be in a knife fight. But for most people in europe it might be all you can (legally) carry. And in the case you meet some dumbo who doesn't mind a knife fight. You rather have a KNIFE then this thing that can break on impact.. thats all im saying. Again thats not why its designed
Long story short the M10 magazin is for the skip thats it !
Sorry voor me vertraagde reactie. Hectische tijd.
This is how not to do it! You just string it like a recurve bow. No need to put the limb in the body. Put the string on one end first, put the steel stringer cable over the top of the string. The other end of the string feeds through the loop of the steel stringer cable. Now, use your foot and hand to apply pressure and feed the string through the loop on the stringer and pop it on the end of the limb. Takes me a few seconds to string mine.
Thank you for showcasing the Steambows, I have the AR6 tactical and the Survival, problems with the company and the product seem to have started with the M10 .looking forward to watching your content, and by the way your English is better than my Dutch
As you say the two lines are useless on the front of the Limb
Mate, buy a Nerf Gun.
It’s a €50 target. you get what you pay for with a target
Oh man….now, I’m certain they have to ship a 100 pages instruction book to Some of their costumers.
Obviously you didn't get a lot of points right. For example: Steambow referred to the reloading safety improvement. Compare the old speedloader to the M10 magazine. Five open blades/tips to safely insert into the AR6. VS a bunch of arrows hidden inside an enclosed magazine with nothing to worry about.
@Mannnisp nothing to worry about except they can randomly come flying out if you dont load the magazine fully. The magazines are garbage quality and way overpriced. But you have a point if you wanna carry around more than 6 bolts. And you need to carry the bolts loose or in a speedloader. Too bad the quality is missing. But what do you need to do with more than 6 broadheads? For outside/hunting use, there are hundreds of better bows. And if you need more than 6 for self-defense, you should have invested in a assault rifle.
Decided not to purchase an M10 after seeing this and other videos. The unprofessional way Steambow handles the criticism doesn't help either...
The thumbnail is too funny bro😂😂😂
i was gonna buy one of these but the price of the bolts put me off, only steambow bolts great review though
I have the ar6. Glad i did not get the m10. Thanks. I was considering the m6 aluminum upper magazine. Do you have any knowledge of these?
I have no knowledge of these. But i reckon there more sturdy than the polymer ones. Looking back, it probably was a better idea for me to buy that one instead of the m10. But if you already have the polymer one. I can't believe it's worth the price. Maybe if you sell the polymer one and pay the difference? If you do buy it, let me know what you think
@@Dutch_Defense_and_Survival I been considering the aluminum upper. Steambow says it's tighter clearances and shoots straighter. But I seen a very lengthly comment telling steambow the flaws of the metal upper. But I've found no good review of it. Or really any review.
@shaynehawkins713 When in doubt, dont doubt. Do you have problems with the polymer ar-6? If not, then maybe use that money for something else. You can get a pretty nice bow for the price of the metal upper alone. For what you're going to probably use it for, the ar-6 for the polymer version is more than enough. Practicing is going to do way more than you buying the metal upper. That's my opinion. Without even trying the €252,08 metal upper.
@@Dutch_Defense_and_Survival No issues. I fully like the ar6. So do a lot of people. Yeah I agree. I have too many doubts on the metal upper.
@@shaynehawkins713 I maybe wrong but don't you need to also buy the magazine dampner kit when using the metal upper
Steambow hasnt noticed they dropped a lot of quality trying to bolt on a "simple" magazine design. the Interceptor shows that if you want a ton of ammo & exchangeable magazines, that concept has to be at the heart of the design. and everything has to be build around it to maintain safety and quality and comfort.
I am not a fan of the steambow. I don’t like that you can’t shoot any manufacturers bolts you have to buy their expensive bolts. I don’t want to be paying $6 for every single bolt I lose. You will lose bolts eventually.
I buy cheap carbon bolts from amazon, as long as they are the same OD or near as, and roughly the same length they are fine. dont know about broadheads though :)
uh uh uh ...
the second arm you showed has an issue... the string was not turned enough before putting it on. it seems that the string is touching the limbs. that should not happen and is a indicator that it is not tensioned enough. on the first bow you put the sting on (the pink one) you did it right. do the second one like the first one.
the pink furniture looks absolutly gorgeous! if i get a stinger some day i will get it too! :D
you can put a small amout of grease in the caps, to make them stick while doing your stringi thingi :D
there are other takedown pins on the market. some of them have a spring detent ball inside the pin it self, not in the outside. maby you could fix your m10 with such a takedown pin. if i see it again, i will link it somewhere in your channels comments.
Has the takedown pin issue been resolved yet??
My string aid broke!!?? With the 90 pound...I did have the string aid for the 120 pound (metal color), so I used it instead...but I will never use the black string aid again...😱
You have good points, if only you didn't B1tch through the entire video crying about how the manufacturer is blah blah... Point is you still use their product, you have decent knowledge of it. Just help us understand without sounding like a puss... I follow you to support your shares, but it's a tough one to hear you complain so relentlessly.
The manual how to add the string to your limb comes with the original device. At least it was like that with my compact. Can't remember that I have even seen a manual added to any separately sold limb from any manufacturer tbh. Still remember how I struggled in the earlier days when I had to replace the string of a Cobra crossbow - well at least the procedure did not change over the years ;) On a General note, while the packaging is more on the toys side the device is still a potentially deadly weapon. Hence everyone should handle it constantly like that. Best example the Interceptor, pin has a small button to press. Well if you press it pin comes out and can get removed. Should you always check that the pin is 100% in place before shooting yup - at least when you see any potential contact happening before.
I must have had one with my original AR-6 too, but my M10 is completely made out of spare or separately ordered parts, so no manual. That's very disappointing to hear. If I were a crossbow manufacturer or seller, especially for a repeating crossbow, I would do everything possible to ensure my products are safe so I can keep selling them and my customers can keep enjoying them. Haha, I understand-it’s not a fun task, right? The new repeating crossbows all have safeties, so they’re much safer, of course. And a great general note: safety above everything! I don’t know exactly which pin you’re referring to, but I hope to test the Mey Interceptor soon!
I damaged my Stinger lower body using the supplied strinig aid with the 120lbs limb. Its unbelievable they dont deliver a manual.
I'm sorry to hear that! I knew I couldn't be the only one. If you claim to sell premium products, then you expect more. But a lot of the time, you don't even get the bare minimum from Steambow. How hard can it be.
Thank you for the review, I bought my AR6 in 2022 and was considering changing to the M10 upper, won't after this. Also when I bought my AR6 I got the 90lb limbs (back then it was only 35,55,90) now I've been told you cannot shoot the light practice arrows with the 90lb limb. I don't want to spend 150 euro + shipping to buy all my ammunition again. In your experience do you think you need heavier arrows for 90lb limb ? or is this steambow trying to make cash ?
You're very welcome! I think that's a wise choice. I'm very disappointed with it, especially for that price. I swear I also remember hearing or reading from them that the light bolts were suitable for their 90lb limbs. In the new video I just uploaded, I actually use it for the first time. After seeing tests from other RUclipsrs and now observing with my own eyes the penetration differences between the 55lb and 90lb limbs with a light arrow, I highly doubt there's an actual 35-pound difference between them. So, I think you're fine. But I don't want you to get hurt, so this is just my opinion. Maybe there is a difference in the quality of the 90lb limbs, and yours is an actual 90lb-honestly, I can't tell anymore. They might recommend heavier bolts to make money, or they might do it to try to hide the fact that it's not actually 90lbs.
Thank. You for sharing this with us I was about to buy this and after watching your video I most definitely will not be buying this bow it's just not worth all the money they are asking for something that is not fit for market with the flaws you just saved me money and headache 💯👌
Thank you for the feedback! You're very welcome. You're absolutely right-the price-to-quality ratio just isn't there. It's a shame, especially since they did such a good job with the original AR-6. Highly disappointing!
The parts to fix that problems you can buy at sportsmen target and crossbow action world👍
Thank you for the feedback! I will check that out 👍🏻
nice kitchen chair :)))) but... seriously, what do you think about the Interceptor crossbow?
Haha, thanks! The room it was in before now smells like diapers... My wife 'won't let me' buy one, but I've thrown some lines out and hope I can make a review soon! Have you tried it out?
@@Dutch_Defense_and_Survival haven't tried the Interceptor. I wanted to buy a Steambow but after seeing some videos (including yours) I backed down and wanna consider the Interceptor.
You do excellent reviews. Can you do one on the Interceptor?
Thanks! My wife says that if you have more weapons than you can carry, then maybe you have enough. I strongly disagree. But rest assured, as soon as I get my hands on it, I’ll be making a review.
@@Dutch_Defense_and_Survival Thank you very much - I will wait for it.
That’s shocking mate! 😮glad you weren’t hurt at all.
I solved that problem by reducing a little material from the upper, where the metal stables has contact to the upper. So it presses slidely on the takedown pin.
Thanks for the tip, but what do you mean by "where the metal stables has contact to the upper" ?
@arandomkiwi1110 if you disasamble the holding parts of the takedown pin by unscrew that single screw on the downside of the upper, there comes out that "u" shaped piece of metal. That is what I mean.
@@user-dx7po2yk3u Thanks 👍
I just have the same issue. Could not shoot more than 20 times until the upper opened up. Damn dangerous. Sometims the bolts jam on the loaded M10. Steambow refused to provide a solution when I contacted them. I had to purchase a 3d printed 3rd party bolt that locks safe. I will never purchase any steambow product again. Thats a safety hazard.
You are totaly right. The friction lock of a important part (bolt) is no safe solution. Its so unbelieveable that they refuse to deliver a Safe answer for this.
18:55 Curious. I had the exact same problem. They have sent me a completely twisted 150 lbs limb. After returning it on my own expenses, they have sent me a replacement with a defective lamination. It's like they either have no sufficient quality control, or just don't care about customer safety - or both.
I think they don‘t have a quality control.
I’ve had three quality issues with Steambow products that I bought directly from them. I never sent anything back-they always told me to keep it. These guys almost had me hoping they send me something defective so I can get free bolts or a free string. I'm not even joking. 🤣
Do you have an external platform or mail address to communicate? I could send you the solution, even to the magazine problem (bolts falling out etc.), but I can't post it here.
@5PL45H0R Not yet, though. I’m interested to hear more about this. I’ll figure something out and get back to you.
@@Dutch_Defense_and_Survival Ok, nice.
Do you have a solution? Let me know! If it works and is safe, I’ll do a review about them.
I have Steambow M10. It never does that to me. I shook it hard that the pin doesn’t come out. I would have to pull to top receiver toward me a little bit while holding to pull the pin out.
I'm happy to hear that! I still recommend asking Steambow about this new block. It definitely has more friction. If you don't like it, you can always go back to the old block. However, this happened to me, and it scared the ***** out of me. It does happen to others too-otherwise, there wouldn't be a need for a solution.
Mine you can’t pull the pin out easily. Like I say I have to pull back toward me to loosen up to pull the pin. Maybe it is different in USA then over there?
Very funny..... 😂😅😂
What do you think about the limb axle arrangement for the string? Is it more efficient? Faster? Speed data seems impressive for the poundage - and low cost, of course. Notably, the idea does not seem to have caught on, but that may just be due to extra cost of tooling, perhaps.
Good questions! I think it’s interesting that a budget bow like the Rage X uses curved limbs, as these are usually harder to engineer and more expensive to make than split limbs. A single-piece, curved limb requires precise engineering to evenly distribute stress and prevent warping or breaking under load. In contrast, split limbs are cheaper and easier to produce, which is why I think the curved design hasn’t caught on widely. Curved limbs are known for offering a smoother draw cycle and energy release, making them more forgiving. a great choice for beginners or casual shooters. However, they tend to be less powerful and slower than split limbs. When we tested the Rage X, we also shot with another bow that had split limbs, a Jandao Chace Star Crossbow, and it was noticeably faster. The arrows went deeper into the target compared to the Rage X. That bow was about three times more expensive than the Rage X, and i believe the power stroke is also a little longer i think, so there’s definitely a trade-off in cost and performance.
Very nice crossbow
i have a redback and a 123tech magazine, not that tactical but much safer. you should get a revo7 or a mey interceptor
Steambow is Dangerous! This is all technical unfinished.
