    Isn't Deli Meat processed food???

    • @robertsontribe
      @robertsontribe 3 дня назад

      It’s processed in so far as it is ground up meat and put back together in a form that can be slice thin and sometimes has added spices. Deli mean has been very demonized by mainstream media as not being good for you but it’s perfectly fine and has a place in a keto diet as long as it is not your primary protein source.

    Deli meat and egg white tortillas are processed food!

    • @robertsontribe
      @robertsontribe 3 дня назад

      Deli meat is only processed in so far as that it is ground up meat and shaped into a form that can be sliced and has added spices. That’s it. Egg white tortillas are a slightly processed food but definitely be made fresh and not be “processed”. The egg life wraps I buy only have 3 ingredients.

    Your descriptions in your first pregnancy video and this one are IDENTICAL to mine-even down to the gallbladder attacks! I was keto/mostly carnivore before my first pregnancy. When the morning sickness struck, it was either give in to carbs or fast...and I was so determined to stay keto that I nearly fasted for days. The only keto friendly food that I could stomach a nibble of was raw broccoli. 😆 I was so sick that I couldn't get out of bed..stopped going to school, nearly lost my job...Finally, my husband couldn't take it anymore and asked what carb I wanted. I knew immediately that I was desperately craving oatmeal with peanut butter and butter. The relief when I finally ate carbs was immense. (And no, I'm not diabetic.) Like you, the aversions subsided in the second trimester, and I was able to cut way back on carbs again. I did keep some berries and almond butter in my diet. However, the real struggle returned when I tried to go animal based while breastfeeding. I became so hypoglycemic every time I tried that I couldn't even safely hold my baby. I would wake up in the middle of the night shaking, drenched in sweat, and later vomiting every time I'd completely eliminate carbs. I've since had four more babies. I've breastfed and/or been pregnant for the last 8 years, and I've tried many times to go back to some variation of animal based, but I just can't seem to do it...Maybe I'll have better luck someday when I'm not pregnant OR breastfeeding.

      Thank you for sharing your experience! Everyone is so individual and I am glad you listened to your body. For some people drinking to much water is what is causing your cramps, you're literally flushing out all the minerals in your body, cut back on the water, drink a small cup of water with a quarter scoop of celtic sea salt and add a electrolyte a day and all your cramps will go away.. trust me.

    I used some that a friend had and it definitely helped, (didn't fix it ...but helped it) but KETO CHOW is waaaay too proud of that stuff.... the price is too high for me. Between the cost of LMNT and everything else I have to take + adding this stuff... It's going to cost me hundreds of dollars a month. If this is the proper human diet why does our body suffer so badly when we are on it? I mean, if we're eating the way we should be eating ..our body should be happy about it... It shouldn't be going into stomach cramps and diarrhea and / or constipation and calf and leg cramps etc etc etc.. I'm really beginning to doubt this way of eating. So far this healthy way of eating has been nothing but expensive and painful.

    As a teacher, I have met some kids who have been homeschooled with this approach. Currently one is in 5th grade. He’s bright but doesn’t know how to read. Doesn’t know letter sounds. Homeschooling is woefully under regulated and many kids slip through the cracks missing an education entirely because the person homeschooling them doesn’t realize the effort required to do that or doesn’t want to put forth the effort. Some homeschooling kids are superb and have excellent education but it’s not all kids.

    • @robertsontribe
      @robertsontribe Месяц назад

      I definitely appreciate your viewpoint. 😊 You are right some parents are very lax and that can lead to poor outcomes. But truly interest led learning shouldn’t be neglectful . I don’t agree with government school standards and when a child should or should not learn a certain skill like reading when they are ready. But a parent should not neglect their duty to keep some structure and facilitate learning in a constructive way. If you teach reading, writing, and math at a gentle easy pace, anyone can learn anything with the guidance of an adult. There will be flaws with any approach to teaching but it’s our job as the caretakers of our children to see them, and make sure we don’t fall into the trap of neglect. Im kids thrive with a little bit of structure in reading, writing, history and math. The we take everything else as interest lead learning. Works awesome for us! But you are correct, there are 2 sides to the coin and anything can be taken to extremes. 😊 Great comment!

    Many of us are deficient prior to this diet, but it doesn't show up until we drastically change our diet. I had cramps long before I even knew of Keto or Carnivore diets. I also learned while doing this WOE, though I added salt, I wasn't using quite enough. And to take a daily vitamin with the trace minerals we must have. Take them with a meal, and with enough Fat to absorb them. I did Keto first, then progressed to Carnivore. By taking that route, It gave me some resources some of you may not have. ketogains is a site that has these things worked out and though it is Keto, it still applies to us here. Low carb is low carb, ours is just without plants. So don't be a snob, and be willing to learn and it will bless you. Luis Villasenor has been doing this for over two decades, so he knows about this Low Carb WOE as much as anyone out there. It's free info to use, so I am going to share the "Must have keto Supplements" page to help. It helped me and my cramps. www.ketogains.com/2016/08/ketogains-seven-must-supplements/

      honestly, I haven’t had any struggles in the actual teaching on anything because the curriculum I use is very straight forward. But what’s I can say I have struggled with is the extreme emotions my kids could get toward a difficult lesson. The anger, perfectionism, lack of motivation, tears, etc. That is something that I never experienced in public school. you just did the work even if you didn’t get it. but at home, the kids feel safe and will let the feelings out. So that has been a struggle to try to be nurturing when I’m feeling impatient.

    • @robertsontribe

      no not at all! would never consider it either unless my kids requested it. I don’t use the government school standards as my own. Colleges are there to really make money. They will be happy to take my money or my child’s money when they are ready to go. So if there are requirements that my child will need, they will cross that road when they need to but I could personally care less what the government thinks is a standard. Children are very individual and i feel they should be treated and be able to learn as such. Good question!

    • @simon9447
      @simon9447 Месяц назад

      @@robertsontribe Right.... You make a statement saying , "If there are requirements that my child will need". With the greatest respect, it's not a question of "if". There WILL be requirements that your child will need. That is worth considering now because ,"crossing that bridge when you come to it" is to deny that you have potentially put your child at serious disadvantage. You dont have to care about government standards but future employers are going to be expecting a certain standard whether you care or not. As for socialising your child I have no idea whether home schooling is good or bad but again, your child will potentially pay the price for a cloistered upbringing. II was in a relationship with a wonderful lady who withdrew her child from school at around age 13 and homeschooled him. To this day he has a crippling social anxiety and at age 36 lives a solitary existence. For the sake of your children's future I hope this works out ok....

    Another homeschool parent in denial. I was homeschooled, and every day I have to work hard to overcome my social skills deficit, even now at the age of 31. My parents enrolled me in sports, dance classes, art classes, etc, so they did try. But this only amounted to an hour or two a week with each of these groups of kids. Compare that to the 5 hours a day, 5 days a week surrounded by an unchanging group of peers at school - much deeper bonds form under those circumstances.

    • @robertsontribe

      It’s okay to agree to disagree. 😊 My kids are amazing at socializing with everyone they meet. I think people’s mannerisms are very individual just like their personalities. I have found that if the parents are socially awkward, the kids end up taking on those traits but it doesn’t matter if they are homeschooled or not.

    When left to child-led, it doesn't end well. Children shouldn't be in charge of their educations--they're CHILDREN who literally don't know jack yet. There's a difference between using a child's INTERESTS to guide their education, and another thing entirely to take the mindset of "they'll learn what they need to know, so we'll let them lead themselves." Kids don't have natural interests in many of the things adults need to know. A lot of the things that interest us as adults started off as things we were required to learn about, whether we liked it or not. What's more, kids who are put into a position of never having to learn something that they're not interested in on their own results in adults who struggle to adapt to the workforce. You might think that your kids will be the most special of special kids to ever special, and they'll start businesses, but no, they won't, not when they weren't required to learn the skills. Kids put in charge of their own learning do not thrive, and by the time parents see that their kids are struggling, it's too late. I'm considered to be an easy-going, permissive attachment parent. I let my daughter self-wean, which she did when she was 5y3. My daughter is now 14, and she still loves to snuggle with me and sleep with me, and will do so every chance she gets. She has a lot more freedoms that most kids, and is talked to like an adult. her thoughts and feeling matter tremendously in this household. There was no way in hell we were going to delegate one of our major jobs as parents onto her--we were, and still are, the ones in charge of leading her education. Her best friend, on the other hand, as parents like you, and that teen doesn't even know his ABCs. He wasn't interested in it, or reading, long enough, and now that he wants to learn since he now realizes how many things in life would be easier, it's significantly harder. It's not normal for kids that age to not be reading. It's much more difficult to ever attain reading fluency. He can tell you all there is to know about the things that interested him when he was younger, but can't tell you how to spell his name. My daughter, who used to fight sometimes because she just plain didn't wanna do the hard stuff, has literally thanked me and her dad since she knows she could have been in her best friend's shoes. They've known each other since they were in diapers. She is now worried about him. Aside from him, I know quite a few other kids who were brought up with CLL, and absolutely none of them are doing as amazingly well as their parents thing. None are event grade level, and it's alarming how many lack reading fluency, with some still entirely illiterate despite being old enough for drivers licenses (none of them can get licenses though since you have to be able to read to talk the driving test). Every parent who embarks on CLL thinks it's going to be great. Their kids will show an interest in everything and want to learn everything. The reality is very different. But of course, every parent who does it is convinced they "know best" while ignoring the data on the subject, and there's no way to get those parents to understand the harm they're causing. They think that their kids, by virtue of being their kids, will be the exceptions. This is how kids get set up to fail. It's sad.

      @@robertsontribe With the greatest respect its a triggering topic because this person has witnessed, as I have ,the damage that can occur going down this path. To be frank, its more than likely you will be triggered to when your child is 18 and unable to get into collage and has an inability to deal with basic issues that life will bring up. If that sounds awful, it actually is awful. The fullness of time will make all this apparent.

    Thank you for the video .. I’m curious how do answer the comments that you may get about the need to teach kids self discipline through some structured school work and that learning should not be always fun because grown up people do things they don’t like all the time?

    • @robertsontribe
      @robertsontribe 2 месяца назад

      Great question! My kids do chores and have responsibility around the house that most kids don’t. So there is plenty of opportunity for discipline. I do use curriculum to teach my kids to read and do math. So I don’t plan on stopping that but if there is sever resistance or tears, we never bothered to do the lessons because they wouldn't absorb it anyway. I think you need to know your kids, have boundaries.

    • @NoelleTakestheSky
      @NoelleTakestheSky 2 месяца назад

      @@robertsontribe When things get tough, kids want to stop. It's natural for kids to want to gravitate toward what is fun rather than what is frustrating, and no matter what you're learning, no matter how interested you are, it's normal to have frustration, and even moments of tears. If a person doesn't learn to persist through those times, they will quit. Learning won't always be fun. I fly airplanes--I love flying more than almost anything. Do you have any idea how many times I ended up in tears because there are parts of learning aviation that are hard, and how easy it is to feel that it's going to be impossible, so why try? It's 100% normal to feel that. People who aren't taught to persist through the hard times are set up to fail. This goes for any subject. Kids absolutely have to learn that there will be difficult things, and that they have to learn to get through it. No employer will keep your kids on staff if they get frustrated and think that means they don't have to do something. You're setting your kids up to fail, but of course you don't see that. You were lucky to get a real education, and don't see the privilege that was while denying your kids the same.

    • @robertsontribe

      @@NoelleTakestheSky You have a great point. I agree. That is why it’s important for parents to walk the journey along with their child, encourage, and allow them to fail and be okay with it. I tell my kids things will be hard. It’s okay they are hard. I will walk with them when it gets hard and guide, encourage, and give them the tools to work through it. Just because you are choosing a child-led approach doesn’t mean you let your kids quit when it gets hard. 😊 that is another teaching moment….perseverance! Child-led learning can be as loose or a bit more structured as the family/parent needs it to be. A great education will happen with the right facilitation, mentorship, encouragement and resources.

    Hello! Loved your video thank you so much! I am going to be homeschooling my middle school child this year for the first time here in IL. I am super excited about it. I do have one question and I'm hoping you can help me. At the end of the year, do I need to make a portfolio of her work? Also, for P.E...what do you usually do with your kids? If my daughter and I go on hikes could that be part of her P.E. or is there something specific? Any info helps. Thank you so much!!

    • @robertsontribe

      Im my opinion and of many others, our soil is extremely depleted of these minerals to begin with. So we cannot consume enough of them for optimal levels, so some people have to supplement.
