Добавлен 19 янв 2023
Just Jax here, love art? check me out! Drawing to sculpture, sewing to jewellery making, teaching and learning along the way. I love art, music, dogs (especially my girls,) food (so the odd baking/cooking video will crop up, cake decorating is a whole different art form.)
ruclips.net/channel/UCHfF-WM38acssEsSiMAYGow
New videos go up every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. New Shorts go up every Tuesday and Thursday and Saturday. As for Sunday, since I have an influx of Picasso canvas' to work on, it's Picasso Sunday.
My content will be open and honest, if my drawing goes wrong, you'll see that, cake becomes a pancake, you'll see that too, nothings perfect in life and very rarely goes as planned. All success' and failures will go up and (if I can work out why,) how to fix those wobbly art days.
Hope you find something of interest while visiting my channel and thank you for taking the time to read this.
Take care

Thank you for checking me out, glad you like it 👍
Those tomatoes look amazing! Where did you get them?
Oh they are, without a doubt best tomatoes I've tasted. I got them from Morrisons, never seen them before this year so hoping they're a main stay.
That is cool stuff! The trouble is. I have sensitive skin.
Thank you for checking the video out, I'd definitely avoid this then if you have sensitive skin.
Very effective Jax! I did enjoy this 😊 x
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it 🙂 x
I'm off to make pom pom and use a Stanley knife for cutting.
Sooo cute and 1st 📌 pin?
Thank you and first pin is yours, in fact, it'll be first pin on any of my content.
Good day to everyone love how you make your art projects you inspire me so much ❤🎉😊😊
Hello, thank you so much for checking me out and for the most amazing compliment 🙂 so happy to hear what I do inspired you 🙂❤️ take care and thank you again.
I bought 2 spray cans of release spray which might have been ideal for using these ice trays … BUT… unfortunately it is silicone based ! I can’t use it with resin can I ?
Hi, I believe you can use silicone based release spray as resin doesn't stick to silicone, luckily these moulds were silicone so resin wouldn't stick but UV cure resin would have trouble curing since the moulds aren't clear. Epoxy resin would cure and release with no issues (I will still be trying for comparison sake.) In the future I will be trying different release sprays with moulds that aren't already silicone to see what sprays work.
Beautiful...very creative
Thank you so much for checking me out and the lovely compliments.
I watched to see if it would work. Since you can't use the trays for food now, you can make small soaps for decoration or candle melts.
Thank you for watching, definitely for craft use only. Love the idea of making wax melts, I've recently bought a cauldron shaped wax melt burner. Also could make little plaster casts. Will be trying the wax melts idea for sure, thank you for sharing your ideas, will be doing a wax melts video in the future, made candles before but not melts, so looking forward to that.
Hi. UV light can not penetrate through opaque molds. But you can finish it under the light again if you can take it out. Or you can leave it in the mold and flip the mold and do the underside. You can use normal resin and let it cure according to manufacturers instructions..With the frosty parts you can do a topcoat if you so wish.. Those are cute..❤
Hi, thank you for checking me out. I did think these may be trickier to pull of since so thick and opaque, as you recommended I did try flipping mould over and did have to give he pineapple another blast after removing it. Thank you for he added advice off giving the frosted look another coat to bring back the shine, will definitely try that next time I try this experiment as although I don't mind the frosted look, it would be cool to see the watermelon shiny 🙂 Next epoxy resin session I do I will be trying all the icecube moulds again to see the difference in results. They are pretty cute aren't they, I really like the cactus and watermelon the most. Thank you again for watching and for the sdvice ❤️
Try and do one again with a mermaid riding the sea dragon or seahorse that would be badass looking for sure!!! That dragon is really cute and well made. Done an excellent job on it and hope whoever gets it can appreciate it and fall in love with it like I did and hopefully. Thanks for the video also have a wonderful and blessed day and stay safe out there ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for watching and for such an awesome idea, loving all the creativity this little guy is spawning. As it stands there no new home for this creature yet, three possible outcomes, either pop up for sale, stay with me or a future give away. Thank you forthe genius ideas and positive and creative vibes. Take care and have a lovely day yourself ♥️♥️♥️
Very clever! Lovely results❤. I like to make mermaid dolls of different sea creatures and I can just imagine one of them riding this dragon. Peace and Love from La Paz
Thank you so much ♥️ l'm loving thought of mermaids created from sea creatures, sounds truly amazing! Even more genius that you could see them riding my sea dragon. I have a mermaid concept inspired by beta fish fins and a moray eel-esque body, she's a long way off yet though. Take care La Paz and thank you for watching and sharing your creative vision.
@@Just-Jax-Just-Art a "Mor"maid is actually my next doll project. I'll see if I can find my sketch. Be fun to see how you imagine yours and compare! Just finishing up on a Mer"manta" and a mermaid x Leafy Sea Dragon (inspired by a particularly beautiful type of seahorse). Your Betta idea will be spectacular esp using the technique you used for your dragon's wings. Can't wait to see it!
No way! That is so cool, definitely looking forward to seeing a comparison between our two moray inspired creations. The mer-manta is conjuring amazing imagery, manta rays are so beautiful and majestic. As for the leafy sea dragon, I'm quite sure I know the seahorse you're referring, a very interesting but stunning little being..
I've just started this video, but as a UV resin artist, I can tell you that YES you can use these! BUT you will want to do thin layers, since the light can't penetrate through the entire piece. Sometimes more curing needed after demould. But I'm curious to see how your experiments go... Just heard you say "very thin layers" so you got this!!
Thank you for watching and the positive support. I was quite confident since they are silicone and from the little experience I've got combined with the incredibly helpful advice from pros like yourself I knew thin layers would be key here. Also you were spot on, one did need curing a tad more once out and another even thinner layers than I went with. There will be a round 2 on Monday, two more icecube trays and revisiting one of today's not so successful attempts. Though it didn't go to waste, I recovered him and used him in a short.
@@Just-Jax-Just-Art nice!!
I wonder if you can use regular resin
@@yvonnecocks8271 You can, these will work even better with rugular resin since that sets naturally. Will still be trying it for myself though to make a comparison.
@@Just-Jax-Just-Art I’m going to try it with regular resin! I love the cactus molds! Where did you get them?
i like the 3d dreamscape effect it has
Thank you for checking me out and your thoughts, Its really cool that it makes you think of dreamscapes. On a revisit it'd be interesting to play more into that theme.
I think the painting looked great! I had an imaginative idea for that mold (though I think in execution, it would be hard to accomplish). Imagine: starting with clear resin, placing a tiny fish insert in such a way that it sits in the middle of the helmet. Then, filling up the moon (asteroid?) part of the mold with a solid color. There would be some overlap with the space suit's body or legs, but when you paint the space suit, it would hide the seam between clear and colored resin. Then, when painting the space suit, leaving the face window open so you could see in to it and see the little fish... or, for a halloween-esque version, floating a skull inside the helmet. Ha-Ha! These are the multi-step project that I try to do... and they are the reason why I am surrounded with 1/2 finished things! So, While not really practical, I thought maybe you'd like to hear how your video inspired this creative idea in me. ❤ Nice work!
Thank you so much for the support and checking me out. I absolutely loved reading the ideas this video gave you. That's one of the things I love most about making and sharing art, the bounce back on ideas. Your idea paints such a vivid picture in my mind I'm going to have to try it! Right now I'm torn between goldfish and skull as both genius for different reasons! Think I'll start by making both a little goldfish and skull then see where I end up. Also added thanks for fueling creativity ❤️
sandy shrieks? sister krabs the scary nun? squidWARD and his tentacles could be buckles on a straight jacket? rankton the smelly plankton?
Haha, Rankton the smelly plankton really made me laugh! Those are utterly genius suggestions, I'm going to have to do a wave 2 involving those guys. Thank you so much for checking the video out and leaving such twisted alternates to work with.
I love, love, love your project. I’ve found that the silver and gold foil looks great, but it is challenging to work with. Have you tried mixing the foil with the resin before applying it?
@@NinaHansen2008 Thank you for the love, I had only ever tried foils with glue before and it's a crazy process, first time in resin and much more controlled and no I haven't tried mixing the foils in resin before had but now I'm very curious to see how that would work so thank you for the idea and I shall definitely give that a go.
This is a great idea. I’ve wanted to try a paint pour with resin overcoat. But I figured it would waste a lot of paint and resin. I also have about a dozen of those mini canvases! So now I’ll give it a try, both with paint and (different canvas) with just resin. Thank you!
@@NinaHansen2008 Thank you so much for checking me out, I'm so glad it's given you some ideas to try yourself, those dinky canvases are great to play around with before committing to a big irreversible piece.
Thank you, Jax.
Thank you for watching, I hope you found it interesting. I revisit the nail varnish in an up and coming video alongside acrylic pens.
I just love this!
Thank you! Was a fun little experiment, I'm just pleased it still floats.
@Just-Jax-Just-Art I have ton of those ducks (Jeep driver!) though they don't light up! I'd love to see more ideas of what to do with them. The green cup was brilliant!
@@chriscoulson1118 oh genius, they're so much fun for a little bit of rubber/plastic. Will definitely do more rubber ducky inspired art in the future then and hopefully create something you could do with a few of yours
?
I think I would put a thin amount of resin dry it and then add the nail polish and allow it to dry and let the polish move around making the design by maybe using a dropper or a brush to create designs that will be abstract and then add some trinkets maybe very small beads or maybe foil before adding a second thin coating after drying the first completely or even using a very fine grit sandpaper to give the polish something to adhere to and dry then add second layer of resign and see how that turns out. I am not and expert I am a amiture at best. these are not to condemn your work or even criticize anything you have done Just a friendly suggestion. Please take this as advice or something to consider nothing more, I have no reason to insult or criticize anyone for their efforts on to suggest another option. So will definitely try your suggestion out in my next nail varnish and resin experiment video. Thank you again, so so much for your support and feedback in helping me grow and I couldn't agree more with you saying how much we can learn and grow from each other, very true words. Once again, thank you, take care and feel free to pop any more suggestions/ ideas you have up, I look forward to the feedback ☺️☺️
😂😂😂😂
Hiya Jax. These came out looking amazing. No need for a novel-length comment today lol. You did a great job. Lovely to see the clam shells used as they would be in the wild. I went to see what the alien thing you found was but it isn't up yet. I would love to see if I can work out what it is. All the best, Diane x
Lol and thank you, the beauty of nature can be just keeping it simple. Growing up by the seaside I've always loved seeing what washes up and super curious by what's down in the deep. Ah, the little alien worm, I should be getting that unusual guy up this Saturday, I've honestly never seen anything like it so looking forward to getting an answer. Thanks again, Jax x
It's spelled mold
Please add some up close and clear photos of these small items at the end of the videos so we can see all the details. Thanks.
Hi, thank you for your feedback, I will do a mini vid of photos of the ones I've released already then in the future will add a series of up close clear photos. Thank you again, any feedback and sugestions to make my content better are really appreciated.
Hiya hunni. What a little cutie he turned out to be. I keep thinking it looks like a mouse from certain angles lol. I'm going to drop a bit more advice for you. When you de-moulded him you said it looked squished but you couldn't see any residue left in the mould. I am a little worried that the same thing I did a while ago has happened with you now. I was making some small lightbulbs with UV resin and was adding colour to it and filling the mould and then putting it under the UV light. I was getting some deformed but felt fully cured. I made them up into keychains and added fluffy ball things with them and popped them away for when I needed them. When I came to get them ready to give as gifts, I discovered that all of the darked 1's had not been completely cured all the way through and the had spilt open and wrecked the fluffy balls as well as the lightbulbs themselves. I have since made them again by not using too dark of a colour for the UV resin as the light struggles to get all the way through. I recommend you pop him on a little plate of some sort to catch any resin if the same happens to you. Also, I really wouldn't recommend using UV resin in a mould that isn't transparent. You will get a much better result for this type of technique and that colour of mould if you use epoxy or polyurethane resins. Anyway, sorry for the huge comment again lol. I just want you to get the best results that you can. All the best, Diane x
Hi there m'dear, lol, glad it's not just me seeing a mouse then. He was just chilling on a box of pens, since reading your comments and advice I have moved him to a little play doh lid incase he has a little accident and leaks. Thank you so much for more sound advice, I will be trying him again in the future but with epoxy. I didn't even think about how the depth of the black may interfere with the UV penetraition, so again a massive thank you. I really do appreciate all the advice and pointers you give, feel free to type an essay, I will read it all. To a growing resin based future and sound advice from a great lady x
Why are you doing it with a knife in sted if a paint brush and it is not a good couler😅😅😅
Simply easier to clean toothpaste off a knife. Colour definitely looses appeal come end, won't be brushing my teeth with that.
I want my money back 🥺
weird banana... lol
😮😮😮
That has to be hard af
Hiya. I haven't seen anyone using pigment colours like this before. They are designed for mixing into the resin thoroughly so they don't come out sticky like they did for you here. I watched the other video you mentioned too and the same thing applies. You could try mixing a little of the pigment into some UV or epoxy resin, whichever you're working with, and try adding it into the clear that way. So not to flood it with too much pigment. Or maybe try some alcohol inks and see if that works better for you. They work a treat for this kind of technique. I hope you don't mind me saying this. I'm only trying to offer you some advice as I have been working with resin for many years now, and believe me when I say, I'm still learning new things myself lol. All the best, Diane x
Hiya, thank you so much for the advice and I honestly don't mind at all with you correcting me/advising me on things I'm doing wrong or could be doing better. All advice is more than welcome and will help me grow. So again, thank you for that and your continued support. Plus, I'd be a fool to ignore help from anyone who's been doing this for way longer gan I have. Will mix it up next time and have a look see at alcohol based inks.
Plus I believe you completely, in art (as in life,) there's always something new to learn x
😭😭😭😭
I know 🙁 I had such big plans for this one. R.I.P little pom pom
Absolutely gorgeous
Thank you, he's quite the sweetie
Cool !
Thank you
If you are using Chamillion powder you should use black resin and the color will shift better
Cool, thank you for the tip, next time the chameleon comes out I shall definitely go black with the resin
Jax you really should be wearing safety mask. Love what you did though
Thank you for checking me out and the advice, just ordered one so next new recording (as I just finished another yesterday,) I will be masked up.
Hiya Jax. The results were interesting with the playdough. Not keen on the idea of having to sand cardboard off the back lol. Also really don't think that would would with epoxy as it takes too long to cure and would just spread out and soak in more. As for the bubble wrap, that's a technique that went round a fair bit last year. I have a video, yet to finish editing cuz its so long lol, using this technique from last year too. Works a treat with epoxy and after removing the bubble wrap you can rub chameleon powder over the texture and back it with black and it looks amazing. New subscriber here and looking forward to seeing what you have to come. Diane x PS. Can I just ask why you hold the UV light so high up and move it around so much? For small amounts of UV resin like that, it would be fine with the light straight over it. Just curious is all lol x
Hiya Diane, thank you for checking me. The playdoh was interesting, going to try plastercine amongst other bits next time. Yeah the cardboard maybe not so, but I've since read packaging tape works as a liner to card, so will give that a go. Wow, that sounds so cool, the bubble wrap I fell in love with, will definitely check your video out when up! As for the light dancing, it was advice I was given from another subscriber so since I was (am still really) new to UV resin I tried it but I'm always up for advice and if you reckon small bits don't need the light show I'll try being lower and stationary, that way at least I can prop it up and get on with other bits. Thank you again x
Mad skills! How did you get that cool pattern?
Thanks, started with yellow then white horizontally, vertically and diagonally whilst bringing green slightly in between the white and around edges. I won't lie, it was tricky getting the green bits in-between the white
I have the exact same kit the teddys are so adorable
Nice, it's a cool little kit, so many fun bits to experiment with, kinda spoilt for choice as to what to try next
Just finished watching! You're definitely making progress! Again, my main tip is to combine use of both lamps on everything. Some pieces I probably cure TOO long but I typically only do 30-60 sec with the torch/flashlight before putting it under the higher-wattage lamp. And BTW I have the exact torch as you, except in blue :) Ok, sorry to have rambled on but I wanted to let you know I watched the whole thing lol
Thank you, here's to progress :) and I must say I love that you have a blue version of that torch, it's my favourite colour, so kinda wish I had yours. Thank you so much for your support and managing to see the whole video, really means a lot!
Sorry for writing a novel in your comments but I wanted to say "thank you" for trying my tip. I know it doesn't seem like a big deal, but I've been a bit melancholy lately and hearing you say nice things about me made me smile :) And you've inspired me to get back to my UV resin, as I've kind of let my crafting lapse in the last couple weeks. But i know that today I will be FINALLY getting back to it!! Thank you again ♥
Write away, all novels welcome! I'm glad I managed to bring a smile to your face :) and inspired you to get back to the crafting side of life. Again, thank you for the advice, I really do appreciate it and always try to incorporate anything people suggest, especially those who make it through my content
I see you tried my tip about bringing the light down slowly in circular motion to begin with. Nice!! :) I will say that most times I still use my UV lamp (similar to the nail lamp you found) and cure both sides an additional 2-4 minutes (usually 4 min on front and 2 min on back after that). That might help with the overall stickiness. And yes using alcohol on the piece once done will remove any additional stickiness. I hope you're having fun!! :)
I should also mention I have only used Let's Resin brand UV resin so far. I'm almost out of it and I have some stuff I got from TEMU that I'm going to use after that. I'm a little nervous about it lol.... but I wish I could attest to different brands, but I can't. I will say that I've enjoyed using the LR brand, and so far it has provided awesome results. And with your mold, I can't tell if it is a shiny or dull mold. That will also affect the finish on the piece. top-coating should shine them right up if the mold is indeed matte :)
I did and it works a charm, so much clearer. Funnily enough in my next attempt I did those times, 4 on the front and 2 on the back :) I am thank you, fell in love with resin, definitely going to be a very regular feature on my channel
Missed this bit earlier, good to know let's resin is a solid brand, I'll definitely take note of that as I plan to try a few and report back on the good, the bad and the ugly. Good luck with the one off TEMU, fingers crossed it's good. Thanks for info regarding mould quality, the pink one is slightly dull to look at, he new moulds in next video are more shiney in appearance. Will definitely try top costing when a dull result crops up :)
@@Just-Jax-Just-Art awesome! :)
Wtf
Whoa, thank you so much for this!
You're welcome, hopefully this'll help prevent a few new people (and potentially old,) fto UV resin fom wasting time and money on this product.
I really feel that you need better moulds.
Hi, I'm happy to say I have invested in better moulds, clearer silicone ones. There's one more video to go up next week with that little pink one (from before thorough research into the bad UV resin purchase.) Then I'm moving onto my new, hopefully more appropriate moulds :)
This is the WORST UV resin product i have ever used!!!! It's extremely smelly and remains sticky!!!
Hands down the absolute worst, there's one more video with this product (recorded before doing research) and nothing about it works. Did a bit more research about the brand itself yesterday and it seems to specialise in knock off dodgy products.
What
