Have you ever wonderd what the part with the Dutch girl looks like in Colour well there you go please be kind in your commets because I'm Just a kid thank you
Where is this feeling in our world now? ❤
👍👍👍💕
Everyone in this video is likely dead. Marlene Lyden who played the dutch girl died in 2007, Natalie wood who played the other girl died in 1981. I hope they had fun during their lives.
Dammit, whos in here cutting onions and blowing peppermint vapors in my face.
This is my favorite part of the movie.
Sorry santa he only speaks jive
When you believe in love and miracles, anything is possible. That’s the nature of Santa.
One of the most poignant & greatest scenes in motion picture history.
Far as anyone should be concerned, this was the scene that made this movie what it is,a miracle. Because this was a real moment for everyone involved in the movie. And Santa was really there for that moment in the true tradition of what he represents.
As an English and Germa speaker, I can understand a lot of that.
This scene always has me in tears.
Scene makes me cry - EVERY time.
I spoke Dutch for 20 years, living in Europe. Let me translate the song for the readers here; Sinterklaas, kapoentje (term of endearment for little children) Geef wat in mijn schoenjte (give some in my little shoe) Geef wat in mijn laarzen (give some in my boot) Dank u Sinterklaasje (Thank you little Sinterklaas) I must mention that Sinterklaas doesn't pronounce the word, schoentje, correctly. He says SHOEntje instead of SKOONtje.
Watched the movie recently on one of streaming services and this scene was cut out???
One of the sweetest scenes ever recorded.
Great movie.
Why tf does this make me cry every time I watch it 😭
I think it's twofold: One it's the sort of wholesome kindness movies don't often show, and two, it's Kris' look of sadness when she goes because he knows Sammi will never know the joy of sound.
I love this movie. I've always loved this movie. I do Santa and I modeled my look after Edmund Gwenn's look. But there's one thing about this scene that's always bothered me. Apparently the foster mom spoke Dutch (she reacted to what the girl was saying). Why didn't she just tell the girl she'd interpret for her? It's just a teeny thing in an otherwise perfect movie.
Why do they keep confusing santa claus and the dutch sinterklaas .... The english santa claus is based on the dutch tradition sinterklaas yes, but we also have kerstman which is the same as santa claus on the 24 th. Sinterklaas is on the 6th and something else.
The little actress was not Dutch but actually an American. A Dutch refugee from "Rotterdam" was used since the bombing of Rotterdam in 1940 was a major Allied Propaganda story - there were approximately 1500 people killed. In 1947 there wouldn't have been much sympathy for a little German girl from Hamburg - where 60 to 100 thousand were killed in 1943.
Whoever doesn't cry at this part is heartless. Because it is the kindest part of the movie
This is the original. Very good movie.
This is not the original version, but a fairly good movie nonetheless...
I want boobs like my mom for Christmas!!!!
If you aren't going to show a whole clip, don't bother.
This is my favourite remake of this film and they couldn't have picked anyone better then Richard Attenborough ,he s perfect as santa ,❤
That scene always makes me cry😢
Back when Hollywood actually made good movies.
IF i was the santa......i would have made a joke about the lady that brought her first...........😅
One of my favorite movies and this scene was amazing! He was an amazing Santa.
Lots of remakes of this film, but this will always be the best one.
You know as a kid, I was convinced that this WAS SANTA. That somehow they made a movie with him. In fact I still do.
If the girl doesn't speak English, how did Mom tell her Santa wouldn't be able to talk to her either??
Most likely the Mom and her Husband learned Dutch before or after they adopted her.
Neither Santa nor the girl are native Dutch speakers; Dutch with an English accent; interesting though;
Try watching this with the sound off. It’s so much more beautiful.
This scene is normally missed by modern audiences. I don’t think this little girt lost both her parents in the Holocaust. The Dutch suffered the man-made famine of western Holland imposed by the German authorities cutting off food during the winter of 1944-1945. This was the Hunger Winter. Estimated deaths suffered were 22,000, with the Dutch children suffering severe health problems for years afterwards. Parents gave to their children rather than themselves. It was worst in the cities of western Holland including Rotterdam. The Dutch people suffered much that brutal winter of ‘44-‘45. This scene always hits hard , how the withdrawn little girl lights up…and the reaction on the face of her new mother.
One of the few christmas movies I actually like, and for a good reason. This is an amazing movie.
This original version had more heart, soul and feeling in it than any other version, as good as they might be ! My mother was one of the first Dutch to come to ontario after the war and I can remember her singing this to me !!
As I expect you are fully aware, in WWII the First Canadian Army fought against the Germans, beat them and drove them out of the Netherlands. We (Canada) played the primary role in liberating Holland. And, getting much needed life saving supplies to the Dutch people which saved countless lives. The cost to liberate Holland came at a terrible price as over 7,600 Canadians were killed doing so. The bond between our two nations is still strong to this day. Dutch school children are taught about this at an early age. Two great countries! Fred
@fredvance7612 absolutely Fred. But get my father to talk about his experiences. Forget about it !!!!!
@@Mopar-Pioneer Those of us who have not lived through war as a combatant or civilian caught up in one, can never fully understand or appreciate what those (like your father) who have, went through. The best we can do is to educate ourselves about it, which I have; and respect and remember what those who have went through.
Absodamnlutely my friend@@fredvance7612
@@fredvance7612 God bless 💖
Sign language was taught throughout my elementary school years and that was 40 years ago. Too bad thats not standard nationally.
This is the sweetest, cutest, most heartwarming scene! OMG! Still get me even now!❤❤❤
Ah crap 😭😭😭😭🥲
Im not crying, you’re crying❤❤
This and It's a Wonderful Life, even at 61, make me cry every. Single. Time.
I caught just the last few minutes of IAWL the other night, and gotta agree. When Ol' Jimmy Stewart starts sobbing, "Help me, Clarence! I wanna live again..." the waterworks just turn on full blast !!!
@scottski51 For me it's the end when everyone he's helped in his life comes to help him.
To James im Lavelig going out with my family today and 16th December and topsy and tim hospital melissa golby and I love your family very excited about your birthday party today and I hope you like music 🎶 🎵 Nsync bad
This is amazing but something about the remakes scene with the deaf girl and santa doing sign language hits harder
Can't speak a word of English but picked up an American accent real quick 😂 This is a wonderful film anyway. Just magical.
I’m so glad this popped up in my suggested videos. This clip totally made my day.
the one where he speaks dutch is neat too
This scene was cut too by you. This scene was missing from aTurner rebroadcast; boy did that piss me off!!
That scene never ceases to bring a tear .
I agree
Wish they would have left the original where he speaks to the little girl in Dutch that part is precious in the original movie
The Dutch girl had a sad story that didn’t apply when this movie was made. She was a war orphan
