Worlds first Chinook with Rotax 912UL and Edge Performance EFI kit
After having issues with my carbs, I finally decided to replace the carbs with a Edge Performance EFI kit. No need to balance or replace rubber components.
Out of the box, the engine started up and idled lower than I ever could with the carbs. The ECU needs tuning to get the max 5,500 rpm.
See my previous videos for carb issues.

Finally the engine quit in flight. The Chinook can glide!

I ran up the engine to 4000 rpm and did the checks before taking off. All good. On take off the left carb came off the rubber flange. See the image at the end. A support spring that's supposed to hold back the carb is missing in the picture. Not sure if this is why the carb drooped down. Before the flight I had tightened this flange and checked the support spring after replacing the fuel bowl g...

Rotax 912 Hiccup - Water in the gas.

During the engine checks, I cycled through the Left, over head wing tanks and the Right tank. The gas from the wing tanks probably did not make it to the engine. Did the engine run up. Took off on the Left tank. At around 200 feet the wing tank gas got into the engine... woke me up! Chinook Plus 2 912UL Rotax

Flew to Carleton Place airstrip about 30 min each way flying slow. A tornado went through the airport earlier this year, you can see the damaged, crumpled hangers on the strip. A takeoff and a bouncy landing after an oil change. Stayed near the field. Flew around a bit and landed 90 deg to the take off runway. Engine ran great. No issues. First solo flight on a tail-dragger. I removed the down-wind legs.. the take offs and landings are the focus. Use to fly nose-wheel aircraft before. Now the idea is to fly in the bush/off airport. Chinook Plus Two with 912 Rotax Engine.

Did your fuel burn change with the fuel injection ? If so did it get better? If so how much better? Where are you located?

Still have to tune the ECU. Will do once it gets warm... around March. The expectation is to get 4 gallons per hour in cruise and an increase in max HP to 90.

Looks like maybe you could incorporate a degree or two of offset to take care of the p factor that’s what zenith does and it works good no need for right trim.

of course you can, its called safety wire. More fun to take off and climb to a safe altitude, turn back toward the field then pull the choke out until the engine runs rough and when you're sure of making the field, cut the ignition.

Nice job on the engine-out landing! Had a similar thing happen w/ my first instructor's plane, a FlightStar IISC w/ the HKS engine (which has the same model carbs as the Rotax 912); the mount for the right carb broke when we went to take off again on a T/G; noticed the right EGT go much higher than left; fortunately, we were still on the ground-roll. Replaced the mount, and continued flying...
