Accordion collage book5
I have hundreds of large gelliprints. These days I look for ways to take what I have and mix the elements to make something new. At this point in my life I don’t figure I am suddenly going to get brilliant about marketing my work so I look for ways to compress the elements I have already created into something my children might be willing to hold onto because it doesn’t take up a lot of space and might fit on a shelf. Otherwise in the end it all goes in the dumpster or onto the burn pile. And I can’t resist making more.

I love this!!
Wonderful…inspiring
Oh, this is absolutely sumptuous. Love the portrait, the cars, the colors!
Merci beaucoup 🤩🌸🌸🌸
Thanks for a clear explanation of this process
About 13:25, while flipping through Art in America, you say it’s not OK to use another artist’s work in anything you plan to show or sell. That’s my understanding, too. But then you add that “transforming” images/photos from books and magazines is “a good idea.” That confuses me. What do you mean by “transforming”?
Lovely 👌
This has certainly inspired me.
Is there a pattern which can be purchased?
They are beautiful. Find a place to keep and feed them until they morph.
Thank you for sharing.
When gelli printing for book making what is your most successful paper source?
I mostly print on high end computer printer paper. Most white and heaviest weight. And then I collage it onto Stonehenge printmaking paper.
So many of the page spreads could be stand alone images. Super!
You glued the pages back to back? What glue did you use? Did you have trouble with the adhesive bleeding through the fabric?
These are not glued. I sewed the book as a single section. The fabric is painted on both sides.
The fabric is printed on both sides. There is a little bleed through but not much.
Excited to see what you do with your fabric books. Hope you share
Beautiful
Shape pattern are so interesting…seeing through the layers…will you add more to the pages?
Gorgeous! The black fabric prints are amazing, had never thought about using a black base, but feeling inspired to experiment. Thank you 🎨
I love it. fab fab.
I loved watching every moment of this~! DK books are excellent and thank you for mentioning the titles of the books you use so I can hunt down my own copies. Each print is so unique, but my favourite was that Prophet Zorastra one; dark teal on that apricot-red page! It has a mysterious, apocryphal vibe with the face being a blob of ink~
I love this MM. Did you have a stamp for the months?
I set the type on the computer and printed the blank calendar pages then gelliprinted the illustrations on the blanks.
There's only one word to describe this: Magnificent!
amazing... I love that it is reversible!
I love this!!! Is there a pattern? Are the fabrics done with a Gell plate or bought? Is it for sale?
Wonderful!
I love this work! All of your work inspires me.
Beautiful
It certainly was/is.
Nice tutorial! Wondering if you let any layers dry before adding more paint? It looks like you just keep going in wet paint?
Is there a reason you are using the original images out of the book and not using laser copies so as to preserve the original for subsequent uses? It seems a bit wasteful to use those one-of-a-kind images only once-
you show too quickly and sometimes you don't even show the result ☹️🤣
I want one!
Wonderful.
I knew I was hoarding those old books for some reason.
You showed up in my feed this morning so glad to see you at work and your ideas!
I love this book.
I am thrilled to have found your video today on image transfer. I tried today to transfer images and was unable to get anything. Thank you so very much
Tips for folding an accordion book that big? For some reason, I just realized day before yesterday that your work is full of other people’s work. What limitations do you set yourself when you use work that may be/is copyrighted?
I’m thinking of the images in the DK books in particular. Aren’t they copyrighted?
Thanks so much for sharing without a whole heap of needless waffling, I have been struggling with image transfer but this has given me hope. Also good to hear your thoughts regarding Golden flow paints on the gel plate.👍
Exactly where I am, thanks….remembering vicki💕
The book image cannot be used twice? Is it thrown in the garbage after one use?
It can be thrown away or what I do is use them for collage and also to print over. Especially the ones that look like a blank black paper. I then use them to transfer images that I captured with white paper or light colored paint.
You make this look so easy!!! But… I also see the fun is in the process and practice helps!
❤ wow you are my favourite yt I love your transferring methods ❤
Love this
Wow cool, that’s a long accordion book. Nice job
I’m wondering why you decided not to mention copyright; maybe you do in another video. I’ve been a little boggled to discover how many people think that, if you change an image slightly, it’s OK to include it in artwork they show and/or sell. 13:56 There you go, you mention not using images identifiable as someone else’s.
Nice job. What do you call the equipment you use to rub image down? Thanks
@@DebraWood-o3m I’m not Meredith but I saw this and thought I’d answer in case Meredith misses it. It’s called a baren. Speedball makes them, so does Yasutomo, which are less expensive but some people say quality isn’t as good.
Some letters look like stencils. If they are, where did you find them, please? I’m finding it difficult to locate good lowercase stencils. Are some letters Letraset? Brayer roll off paper?
Yep! Exactly.
how does the oicture transfee that fast? i have to let mine lay down at least a few minutes, otherwise its not working.
Do you clean your roller off after every use? What do you use?
love it, Meredith!!
