Quick Tip Tuesday #45 Cleaning your airbrush
Right at 6:00, that is how one expertly effects the appearance of chipping over the preceding months and years.
These very issues are aspects of modelbuilding I first must learn before I can embark upon my own ventures into dioramas such as Jef V presents to us in progress.
Interesting - also available in the UK via Amazon
That is one magnificent canine! ♡
What PSI and size airbrush needle did you use?
25 psi. Needle size isn’t that important.
But I use .35 mm
Thanks for the info - greatly appreciated!
Fairly aggressive but realistic weathering in my book. Looks great!
Dought you read these any more but maybe some one else can help me. I can do bullet holes great, I want to lear how to do major flak damage where part of rudder or flaps or wing is ripped off. With structure like beams showing thanks
MRP is the BEST paint I have ever used, PERIOD! Matter of fact, it has made painting a pleasure again instead of an annoying chore, as I have had continued to endure using acrylic paint such as ammo or Model Air. First off, what a time saver MRP is, because I do NOT have to use thinners and try to get it the right consistency. Secondly, I can start a project and shot the whole thing I have started without having to periodically clean up the plug needle and airbrush, as with Ammo. With ammo, it was a constant shoot and unplug, shoot and unplug. Thirdly, I can spray something that such as a missile, holding it with my fingers, shoot the MRP on the free end, finish spraying a few coats and in less than a minute, turn the piece around, holding it on the end I just got done spraying ( already dry ) and spray the unpainted area. Try that with acrylic! I can also put mask off a part I have painted, put the new color down and remove the tape off without worrying about it removing the paint! YES, MRP is the only paint I basically use now, except for a few Tamiya ones. A BIG thank you to MRP for making painting fun again instead of a lesson in frustrations and aggravations!! As for the smell, I happen to like the smell of lacquer paint, so it doesn't bother me one bit. 🙂
These Quick Tip Tuesdays would be great if they were set up as a playlist.... They are great little nuggets.
Update?
Common-garden-variety two-part epoxy glue works fine to bond rubber-band tracks from Hasegawa and Tamiya based on recent experience I've had. The Tamiya tracks were from their 1/35 Panzer IV 161/2 kit, although the kit instructions specifically pointed out that ordinary plastic model cement/solvent glue would work fine with contemporary Tamiya kit rubber band tracks as Jef V pointed out early in his video.

Hi Jef - good to see you again. Congrats on getting Scout - I hope she and Yvar have now become fast friends. Don't know if you followed the recent two-week manhunt in Pennsylvania for an escaped killer but it was a K-9 Belgian Malinois named Yoda who finally nabbed the guy and is the hero of the story. Anyway, wishing you all the best with Scout and looking forward to more video updates!!!!!
At the moment I'm pretty far in getting close to the finished model (the Heller version). I first dreaded building the tracks but they were a lot of almost therapeutic fun. I lost almost no pins during pushing them through the links. I'm using two dark yellow spray cans of 400 ml, looks like I won't need much of the second can. I even used a grey metallic spray can for the tracks and they don't look bad at all. Most parts have been assembled. I never liked foto etched parts, I will use the parts I can use, and scratchbuild the ones that are really too tiny even in 1/16 scale. Not sure what to make of the stuff the ''schützen'' are made of. I don't like the bare yellow, so I'll try one of the yellow/brown/green camouflage patterns.
I got the one from Heller and it is exactly the same. 👍🏻
That's great but what do you use/do when hand painting items?
This looks like the trumpy kit
SUPERB! I learned a lot again....
Should this be the end of 50 years modeling ??? I can't wait to test the Instant glue Loctite Super Glue-3 All Plastics 2gr+4ml on vinyl tracks. Many, many thanks for the tip
Excellent job. Thank you.
He is sure looking good, healthy and a beautiful pup.
Awesome the bloopers is a fantastic touch! I followed Verlinden, great models web store and now Sprue brothers. I work in a warehouse currently but in a different industry... I am happy with the service and like getting kits fully wrapped and shrink wrapped not like on Ebay from China! A lot of local hobby shops won't bring in the interior kits because they are too expensive here in Canada and they can't sell them, so I get them from America. I toured Miniart models in Kiev in 2017 I could not believe the size of the building and they used every bit of space as well in their company too. Thanks Jeff!
Triumph, the world's fastest motorcycle...REALLY? I thought you were a devoted Harley guy....what changed? Beautiful specimen though... look at those ears pointing up...
Gorgeous dog!
Such a beauty
You are both lucky to have each other!!!
Beautiful dog. Malinois are not for the faint of heart. As you know they have to have a job, need to be socialized and need structure. As for prong collars, all three of my Dobermans which are pushing 100lbs, use and need prong collars. Training is key.
i’m thinking of getting this but i don’t know how to make the circle paint scheme with a paintbrush but dont know how i can do it with a spray can because of the larger coverage is there a stencil or something in the box to help with the camo?
You were kind of sneaky there Jeff, slipping in the Pak 38's 5cm guns along with all the Pak 40's, he he he.
Brilliant, great tip
Good looking dog Jef, we have a part Wolf, part Husky and part Lab. He weighs in at 79 lbs. Quite the horse.
Thanks Richard! Owned a Canadian timber wolf once.

Beautiful dog , Jeff ! Hope you and your family are well ! Thank you for sharing this video. Take care, Tony
Thanks Tony. You too my friend!
That's one good looking puppy. Looks like he's settled in at home.
Thanks Richard!
You are a beauty and lucky dog ! Enjoy your family
I'm thinking of getting a vinyl patch kit... the stuff you use to patch like air mattresses and stuff. i used tamiya extra thin and super glue on my tiger tracks, clamped them together for 24 hours and they just fell apart and the glue crumbled off lol. i ended up having to melt the pins and that held
Someone also suggested Gator's grip, would you recommend any other?
Hello, I'm very interested! If you could help me suggest to them to make the rivets for Academy's 1/48 CH-53E Super Stallion, that would be a hell of a seller!!!
I think this is the mid production kit your building? Those tracks said early? I just picked this kit up I’m super stoked about it 👍🏻
Have a plentiful and healthy New Year!
How is the detail on this kit? It seems 1/16 should be more crisp, is it?
Nope, the Das Werk one is better in my opinion. I purchased both and sent this one back after comparing them. The side skirts is the biggest advantage of this one.
Outstanding video and presentation.
