Hey bud, my questions is, I have a svg file and I want cut it. I normally put a shape around it which is fine, but I want to cut it exactly on the pic. When I press outline it outlines the middle and everything else which I don’t want. I just want the outside. I saw in another video it said on your end “just the outside” don’t see that anywhere. Help! Please lol
@@ccmccoy7 ok so until the next update you don’t have that option. When you create the outline it makes the new outline and internal components a compound vector. You can go into edit compound vector and then select all. While holding shift key click on the outline you want to keep. Everything inside is still selected and press delete. Press done and you should be good to go
@ okay what about the out side? Do I have to connect lines on the outside to the svg? Then I should be able to outline that to cut?
@@ccmccoy7 if your svg is broken then yes. You can offset the outline until everything connects and go into node edit to clean it up if needed
@ thank you so much! Idk if you follow the xTool for beginners page but your page would def help everyone there. You could get followers from there
@ I don’t, is it against group rules to share links? I get most of my inspiration from the official group pages. If there’s ever any specific requests just reach out and I’ll post a video.
Omg thank you! I couldn’t figure out how to make it all black! My only question is I don’t see the outline box for it to say outside only. Does it have to be something to say outside only?
@ccmccoy7 sorry I'm on a version that will be released soon. The tool you have works the same just doesn't have the options yet. You may have to delete the interior elements that are doubled. To do so you can edit the compound vector from the outline and select all and while holding the shift key click on the outside profile you want to keep (this de-selects it) now delete the stuff still highlighted and press done. Now select all and create a compound vector and set to engrave.
This is absolutely perfect. I have a raiser base and for some reason whenever my baseplate is all the way in the back right corner its ends being off by almost an 1/8 of an inch. So anything square ends up off center. This is really going to help. Thank you for taking the time to make this.

This does indeed work, but personally I find it more intuitive to do a "Subtract at Overlap" instead of "Make Compund Vector" as the last step. Thanks for posting.
@@Rom3oDelta7 yes, that can be done as well. This is a quick option that will do the same thing 99% of the time without having to remember which Combine function to use. A lot of users never master this. So I gave this as the option. I will be doing some more advanced videos soon. The combine tool works great when I’m working on say a 10’ canvas breaking the artwork up onto a bunch of pieces for easy engraving. I’m working on a 129” x 50” canvas now and will be engraved onto about 140 honeycombs
How do you bypass the warning that’s something is outside the processing area? My square is in the gray area at the top. I noticed yours is too. But you were able to ignore the warning. I’m on the latest version of design space and I can’t bypass it.
@Michelle88-hola did you download the file? .00001 off into the nono zone can cause the error. It has to be precise. The error that I'm getting is for the marked processing area. If anything that is on barely goes out of this area the system will not allow you to proceed. I'm on a beta right now, I'll try to replicate your scenario when I'm in the studio next. @@MehdiyeMuhammedi I don’t, it’s a huge flame 🔥 issue. But I can run some tests and provide a method to mitigate the issue. Give me a few days. I’m currently behind a few videos trying to keep up with Holiday orders going out. I use my S1 to cut wood and black acrylic. I have cut acrylic on the ultra but cuts are also angled so if the material is 3mm it’s really got to go through approx 3.2 mm of material at the angle. And no air assist allows flare up. I did do a test awhile back and put a small fan in front of the unit cracked. It may work ok by itself with an inline fan attached. I will test this soon.

@ sorry. Easily distracted sometimes. A good range to test is 200-450 dot duration, 80-85 power, 400-550 DPI Jarvis using the IR on the F1
Wow. I just tried this tonight on some leatherette patches. One was about 3:50 and the other 4:06. I turned on those settings and it was about the same but I turned on Smart processing and both designs went to under 1 minute each! I can't say thank you enough for this tutorial.
Yes, for the F series you can do smart processing under under defined. I did make another video for the F-Series for that.
Thanks for the walk through. One thing that I've struggled with is determining what Dot Duration to set things to. My mind says dot duration, how often to make a dot but at the same time I think, DPI, Dots Per inch so I'm still very confused about what to set Dot Duration to. Would you mind explaining. BTW I saw your black acrylic round ornaments on FB and they look Great. That's what I'm striving to do, something that looks as amazon as those are but from what I've messed with, that's a whole other level because engraving .jpg files seems to have two Dot Duration settings. Help! Thanks in advance. I have the original F1 & P2.
Totally remember replying to this but dunno what happened. I’ll go over the settings in a video and what they mean and what they do to the results. Thank you so much for the kind words.

The svg that I’m using is a compound vector. When you have more than two vectors selected and try to use the Unite at Overlap you will get this error. Making them a compound vector should fix this. Sometimes you have an extra layer of the outline that could also be causing the issue. Make sure to deselect inner outline when creating the outline.
Thank you so much! This tip was extremely helpful!

Are these remaining protrusions (small bumps around the flower) a matter of refining the graphic, or is it a machine error? I've noticed that many videos showing this process have such remnants?
Often when I do the embossing preview the bumps match what is produced. When I do embossing without a depth map I get super clean pockets. I’ll add one with text and show how clean the results are.
It would have been nice it you would have showed text engraved both ways with the same settings to demonstrate the improvement claimed.

The relay is stuck closed that’s why you have continuity. FYI , nice find though
I figured it was stuck in the open position? The ac compressor stayed on. Only turning off with the circuit breaker. I would think that if it were closed the unit wouldn’t have been cooling? I’m no expert, just refuse to throw $ at problems when it’s a relatively easy fix. Thanks!

If you ever need any help I’d be glad to do a quick video. I’m trying to be more active on here again
The offsetting to create more detail was a great tip! I just used to that to great effect in some leaf detail from an image trace. I'm using an old free version of Carbide Create that can still output Gcode, a quick tip that works in 652 is once you have the offset, it's automatically selected, so you can copy/move it to the side, and then easily be able to select and delete all of the old vectors.
