You have to be happy with the result, or at least find it acceptable - I know we are all our own harshest critic. I'm sure you're doing better than you claim to be. @@hateva_on_bass There is one first impression, but let's face the facts - it always gets better over time. I'm going to try my best becoming at least a low level bass cosplayer. I'm just wondering whether I'm actually playing bass. It sounds almost like the real thing, but my fingering and picking is...well... sometimes peculiar compared to what I see in play alongs.

@@patrikknoerr9777 Whatever works for you. You know the famous expression "if it works it ain't stupid". There are as many different techniques as there are players; I find this variety super enriching and interesting. And as for becoming a bass cosplayer: Fake it till you make it ;)

I enjoy the whole process from picking a suitable song, to basically dissecting it and then figuring out how to recreate the components in a way that does the original song justice. 🎶🎵

Great song!! Tbh I could never choose between their debut album, Transcendence and Strange And Beautiful. They are all great in their unique ways. I also like their later albums - "On the Other Side of Midnight" always gives me chills.

Yeah, it's not my usual, but I'm glad to have been introduced to this band. And sometimes it feels good to take a step back and play a simple bassline.

Thank you so much Bobblehead! 🖤 You as a non-bassist will probably come up with stuff that a bass player wouldn't think of, so it can be a good thing. Depending on the genre the bass doubling the guitar riff is totally legit, but yeah, as you said that can get muddy, though live it gives results in a massive wall of sound. Bass can play its own line to play in the spaces where the guitar is silent and the other way round, or just do it's own thing - listen to many 70ies rock bands like Sabbath or Deep Purple, the bass also gets busy during the guitar solo. I like adding fills to tide over from one part to the next, like a drummer would. I love parts where I'm basically one with the drum part. So many ways to play a bassline . Sorry for rambling 😅
