Good video, my magnetron I believe has failed.. there is a plastic cover that screws to the magnetron and the plastic has melted slightly.. no cracked magnets and no other signs.. it would help me, probably others to know resistance.. the only other microwave I've fixed the mag has a filament of just a few ohms and between the case and filament was a few kohms (I forget).. my mag has short between the two terminals and is completely o/c between case and terminals...

You have to start the connector by hand so you might as well run it almost all the way by hand. At that point it only needs a snall fraction of a turn to make it tight. A 7/16 wrench will finish the job. If you want to keep one dedicated for the job, a decent 7/16 stubby can be had foir around 4 bucks.

I am guessing there are no parallel connected sets available in the UK as you would need 240V bulbs.

I got a different brand m8 and when i try to turn the nut snug, it unscrews the whole cap. Is this perhaps cause the hole is to big then? The complete anchor seems secure but i can still twist the bolt. Used a hammer/drill driver in concrete wall 14mm

Just about to fix my 2 sparking Sharp microwaves with a part bought online from espares... a largish 500 * 300 cm sized mica sheet, to cut to size, for £7.31 + postage. On opening the packaging enclosing the mica sheet I see it has been creased/bent in 5, yes five, places! Here's hoping that espares will replace it with no hassle... we shall see... watch this space! UPDATE: espares, a Birmigham based company, have told me on 'Live Chat' that they are replacing the bent mica sheet with immediate effect...along with buymystuffeshop, espares will get my custom in future...100% TOP CUSTOMER SERVICE !!!!! Replaced this bloody thing and now it doesn't spin. Installed the old part and same. Head moves back and forth, it's just the spindle motor that now refuses to move. No its not blocked and never was

Thanks for the advice about knocking off the solder ball on the corner. You're 100 percent right. Tried 2 lasers and wouldn't read the disc. I did what you said and it immediately read the disc. Thank you.

Hey mate, with the covers themselves, are they designed specific to the brands? I have a whirlpool convection which I'm replacing the cover, but I don't want to just go out and source a new one if it's advised to get them directly from whirlpool. Thanks in advance

Awesome guys. I was about to buy a new, built in microwave for £250 (as mine was sparking) until I saw this clip. I thought at £2.49 I didn't have a lot to loose, so I ordered a piece of Mica from buymystuffshop,it arrived 36 hours later, cut it to size as per the video and hey presto, a fully functioning oven. Superb, thanks.
