Short Rants #1

I decided to be a bit obnoxious, don some activewear and hide behind a persona to rant about everything ADHD I wish I could rant about in real life. Maybe I need to name this person so it’s clear that she’s an unhinged version of me. Neurotypicals are beaut. Really. I love so many of them in my life. But sometimes they don’t understand and they think they do. No offence guys. I admit that this ...
Systems end Strategies - Unexpected ADHD traits
Просмотров 223 года назад
Some adult ADHD behaviours may seem strange to those who don’t experience the same things in their life. Some reactions or emotional responses may seem extreme or unreasonable. Here is why, when it comes to systems and coping strategies (even if they’re subconsciously developed), they are NOT. This video is basically me sticking up for ADHD people and their (my 😅) need for systems to maintain l...

THINGS I DIDN’T KNOW WERE ADHD #4 + Update

Here are a couple more ways I didn’t realise ADHD was affecting me. I do want to acknowledge, because I realise I haven’t already explicitly said it, that my ADHD won’t necessarily look like everyone else’s. I have strong hyperactive traits as well as inattentive traits, because I’ve got combined type ADHD. Inattentive type will probably actually look quite different in lots of ways, but very s...

I wrote a song a decade ago about ADHD, but didn’t know it.
when I forget to take my aderall i get them
Amazing! How often do you get them?
give us a vid of you hiccuping sometime 😀
I haven’t been formally diagnosed but I’ve been self diagnosed with adhd for years, I also have chronic hiccups but only at work, probably cuz I’m stressed out
I find I most frequently get hiccups when I’m in the supermarket, which I find super stressful too! They’re definitely linked to stress levels for me, and periods of higher sympathetic activity.
thank you for this, i’ve been trying to find a link between adhd and hiccups and this is the only thing i could find😂 i realized that the frequency of my hiccups has reduced by like 95% for the past 5 years i’ve taken adderall- i’ve had issues with hiccups quite literally since my mom was pregnant with me but now that i take medication to treat my adhd, i almost never have hiccups
Oh wow!! I have a theory about hiccups and nervous system formation, (I had hiccups a lot when my mum was pregnant with me too!) and your story supports the theory! I’d like to know if your mum had a stressful time during her pregnancy and whether she is likely to have had high levels of cortisol while you were growing. This has a huge impact on the formation of the foetal nervous system and my learnings about Polyvagal theory make me think there could be a link!
I actually have a theory that it’s a ‘buildup’ of fight/flight energy/activation that isn’t allowed to be expressed through physiological avenues and so it’s the body’s way of venting excess sympathetic nerve energy.
I have dont this with my phone and my glasses and i have been holding my phone and my glasses have been on my head
It’s like a daily occurrence with glasses and phones isn’t it?? 😅
You nailed it!!
Hehehe thanks 😅
So good, thank you for sharing!
I have POTS and ADHD, I seemed to get slow hiccups daily for the past few days. I had Fast Hiccups sometimes in the middle of the night. But both slow and fast hiccups are very stubborn.
Oh wow! POTS and ADHD! Does that mean you have syncope? I’ve recently been speaking to someone who has started having that symptom frequently and has been searching for a cause/diagnosis. I wonder if POTS fits their situation?! How long do your hiccups last for?
@@kriskingwell9961 For slow ones is 1 hour and 50 minutes. But for fast is 32 Minutes or less
@@marymonsterandcreatormary3783 That’s so long!!!! Do they just go away by themselves or did you have to do something to get rid of them?
@@kriskingwell9961 They go away by itself.
I have POTS and adhd as well, are they linked? I'm here because i hate having hiccups and can't do anything until they go, was wondering if hiccups was linked to adhd. Crazy
What medication and dosage are you on and how much has it helped with forgetfulness and anxiety ??
Well I’m only on a starting dose of Vyvanse at the moment (been on 30mg for a couple of weeks), my psychiatrist expected to increase it from here. I have actually noticed a small difference in working memory though I think, for just a couple of hours in the morning. I seem to be remembering everything I need to take with me or the kids for the day… 🤞and the morning school prep routine is a little less stressful. Definitely have noticed a little less anxiety, more patience and peacefulness too though! Just a touch, but I’m hoping that will increase when I move the dosage up in a week or so! ☺️
Welcome to the Adult ADHD Club! We meet every whenever. I’m sure you already know this but the How to ADHD RUclips channel is nothing but incredibly helpful ADHD videos. I highly suggest checking out that channel. There are a TON of RUclips channels out there but only a handful of dedicated ADHD channels.
Thanks so much! It feels like a pretty hip club to be part of…. I haven’t seen it and will definitely check it out! Useful videos are exactly what I need right now! 😊
@@kriskingwell9961 Hippest club EVER! :) I have a video called “I Think I Have ADHD” or something like that and in the description of that video are a bunch of links to dedicated ADHD channels. How to ADHD is by far the biggest of the channels but every channel in that list has helpful information.
Writing things down is a great way to get them out of your head… which is great and bad at the same time. I had to get into the habit of going using apps. Now when things pop in my head, I put them in Evernote or Notion or Things 3. That way, I can’t lose them… or wash them off my hands. :) Speaking of writing things down… I’m literally about to record a video about what I refer to is “brain dumping”.
I just got diagnosed this year, at 50. I'd be pissed if I knew a bunch of teachers knew and didn't AT LEAST bring it up. I don't even let my mind go down the "what woulda happened" rabbit hole.
Yes, I’m trying to balance the desire to go down that road with repeated reminders to myself of what I’m grateful for in my life now that I may not have. I think as part of my processing I will probably do a thorough analysis of every event in my whole life ever and how the outcome could have been different 😅 but I don’t think I’m quite ready yet…
@@kriskingwell9961 lol. I'm NEVER doing that. At 50, opens up waaaaay too much room for unnecessary regrets. But that's me. Lol. A lot to do with environment, probably.
Nice
