Dead Rising - So Many Zombies, So Little Time
Dead Rising is one of my all time favourite Capcom games. Seeing as how I can't seem to stop covering games from this company, might as well talk about one of the best.

DmC: Devil May Cry Was A Mistake

DmC: Devil May Cry has always been one of the most divisive video game reboots with its radical changes to the gameplay, characters and general style of the Devil May Cry series. Whilst it has its fans, the reboot has gained a reputation of "ruining" the Devil May Cry series. But, does the game hold any special value in of itself? Is it hated too much? Or did Ninja Theory really mess up the job...

Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition Retrospective
I just want to say, alex may not be as evil as he is made out to be...spoilers, but as the game is revealed to be a simulation, he technically has the ability to edit data in the simulation, and as such, he could edit things to make people seem more evil or innocent than they were in reality. Lets be honest, the idea that alex and morgan were the only ones who knew about the more shady elements going on, especially the darker human experimentation, is absurd, the entire station was basically built around experimenting on humans and typhon. Its possible that Alex edited the simulation to make alot of people who could have been involved in the shady elements more innocent and himself more evil so that they typhon could feel more empathy for the humans, assuming their experiment worked.
about the two loading screens, i think the first loading screen loads the level while the other loading screen loads the stuff that you did in that level, or the new stuff that should happen in that level (just a theory don't flame me about being wrong)
I like them all. Each game is unique in their own right.
I love Max Payne 3, but this was hilarious. 😂
I personally loved it. But I think all the Max Payne games are masterpieces.
The more you look at it the more it looks like this was originally meant to be Agent. Either that or something similar. It explains why Remedy were only asked about it after a major build existed. If Rockstar created a new IP but they decided ‘actually this gameplay is a lot like Max Payne’ so decided to check with Remedy if it was ok as a Max Payne sequel.
Resident Evil 4 and 5 technically have tank controls. You just don't notice it because the camera follows behind Leon. It is also design with analog sticks in mind but you can still use the D-Pad to move. Tank controls require a certain mindset to become second nature to use like modern controls are. Speaking of modern controls. Remember when console games had this nasty habit of having the camera controls inverted for analog sticks where moving up causes the camera to angle towards to the ground and moving right cause the camera to turn/pan left? I remember those feel natural to me as a kid. Now, it feels alien to me. I mean get why that was thought to be a good default, but I am glad that that is now the inverted controls instead of the normal ones.
I noticed it the first time playing RE4 actually. Which I appreciated. Since the control scheme is very similar to the PS1 Resident Evil titles the new camera perspective became easy to adjust to. They probably could have gone for a different control scheme but considering how new the over-the-shoulder camera perspective was at the time, not just to RE but games as a whole, I understand wanting to ease players in. Plus, I can't speak for others, but I've never had problems adjusting to tank controls. That usually goes for most games. Within 30 minutes I can typically get adjusted. But then again, I play a range of genres and games, so I've gotten used to everything feeling alien to me at first. The games I typically struggle with are RTS games with a lot of icons to click on since it can take a while to be able to understand what things are at a quick glance. Though saying that, I do love that genre. I think modern controls, whilst functional and easy to pick up, often makes game design uninspired. In the 5th-7th generation of games it felt like the control schemes were being made to best suit the mechanics. Now I think games are going in the opposite direction. It makes a lot of games in some genres play the same and it leads to developers having a more standardized approach to design. Where they would rather go with controls and movement that is proven to work as opposed to trying something more unique or innovative. Take a look at the early-mid 2000s across pretty much any genre. Whilst the execution wasn't always perfect, you'll see a lot more innovation and creativity on how they solve cameras and control schemes compared to today. Even during the late 2000s It strikes me when I go back to games such as Lost Planet or Mirror's Edge and I wonder why developers didn't adapt some of their control schemes considering they actually solve a lot of problems developers face when designing first person/third person games for controller.
This feels more like a vent out on a game you didn't like than a actual critique, the game isn't good, but there are things to appreciate, to complain about the character's monologue i think is too out of a place, especially in a game about emotions and Maturation.
That soundtrack is amazing and made to make you become a true killer
DOOM 3 is actually still my favorite survival horror first-person shooter game ever and my favorite horror game of all time. To me, its the perfect horror game and it does everything a horror game needs to do, with no drawbacks. It's a great classic game. To this very day, there is still nothing quite like it. When DOOM 3 (2004 survival horror first person shooter) came out in 2004, it set a new bar in the game industry with brand new innovations, standards, technologies, concepts, and ideas that were never seen before, that majorly influenced and changed the game industry forever, and which all future first person shooter games, horror games, and games in general, would proceed to follow and be inspired from, and continue to do so to this very day. DOOM 3 was considered to be a very technologically advanced game for its time, that used technologies, concepts, techniques, and ideas, which were never seen before prior to it's release, which inspired all future games in general. DOOM 3 had such a major impact on the game industry, that many of the games that came out after DOOM 3, would have either never existed, or would have been drastically different from what they turned out to be, if it were not for DOOM 3 existing. DOOM 3 was an absolute technological marvel when it first released, and it was the most technologically advanced game ever made at the time of release in 2004, shoulder to shoulder with Half-Life 2 (GOTY). Critics praised the graphics of DOOM 3, which included realistic textures for floors and ceilings. DOOM 3 used the id Tech 4 game engine (Which was a brand new engine at the time and DOOM 3 was the first game to ever use it), and the id Tech 4 game engine was later licensed to other developers, who were interested in using it, due to how cutting edge and advanced it was, and what the technology/capability of the engine would allow them to create in their games. DOOM 3 was both a critical and commercial success, selling over 3.5 million copies in 2004 alone. (As of November, 2024, DOOM 3 has obviously sold millions upon millions of more copies, since the year of 2004). DOOM 3 was the best and most awarded horror game of 2004 (and was actually the 3rd most awarded game of that year entirely, only being beaten out by Half-Life 2 and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas for the Game of the Year award), and DOOM 3 actually beat both Half-Life 2 (GOTY) and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas in 4 categories and won four (4) awards: Best Art Dir…Engine, Best Sound Effects, Best Sound Editing in a Game Cinema, and Best Lighting/Texturing, while also being nominated for many other awards as well. DOOM 3 was easily the best looking game in 2004, and was the 3rd Most Awarded Game of 2004 according to the National Academy of Video Game Trade Reviewers, where it won 4 awards over every other game released for 2004, including BEST Art Dir…Engine, BEST Lighting/Texturing, BEST Sound Editing in a Game Cinema, and BEST Sound Effects. That means that in terms of lighting/texturing, art direction/engine, sound editing in a game cinema, and in sound effects, DOOM 3 was the most advanced/best game of 2004, unmatched in those aspects by anything else released at the time. Only two games in 2004 got more awards than DOOM 3, which were Half-Life 2 (GOTY) and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, which won 5 awards, opposed to DOOM 3, which won 4 awards. As of November, 2024, DOOM 3 on Metacritic has a rating of 87/100 for the PC version, and 88/100 for the Xbox version, which shows that on average, it's critically considered a great game overall. DOOM 3 and id Software deserve a lot of credit in what they have achieved and what they have inspired, and continue to achieve and inspire to this very day. A lot of your favorite games that came out after DOOM 3, may have never existed, or turned out drastically different, if it were not for the existence of DOOM 3 and id Software.
say what u want about caim's voice but dont talk shit bout miss dragon'sss 😭😭 also it may just be stockholm syndrome but i loved the chaotic music n even the cutscenes, they kinda made me feel like i was watching a theater play. I think it's def giving too much credit to say that's what they were goin for, but it's what i got from it n enjoyed it nonetheless :3
Doom is one of those games that can be played more than once.
hey for around the 26:00 mark your complaint is sort of addressed in life is strange double expousre cuz like you dissapear in front of the guy and you can see he looks shocked but even after seeing you disspear you still have to go through the game of tell me what i did to prove you have powers lol.
Telling a story in various types of media was seriously impressive to me. Btw, once you get the package, you do find out what the package is for and what the mission is. You watch the message from the Osiris about the digging machines. This sets off Reloaded. I guess you weren't paying attention. This wasn't THAT bad to me at the time. Clearly they bit off more than they could chew.
The war scene in Zion didn't bother me at all. I think most people's issue with this movie is the fact that there could've been more scenes with Neo in the Matrix. He gets rescued, sees the Oracle, figures out he had to go to the machine city, says goodbye to everyone, loses Trinity and finally fights Smith/The Oracle. Literally every scene except for the train station, meeting the Oracle and fighting Smith take place in the real world
The people malding about your opinion in the comments sound like literal bots. Like this video is literally all valid. And also sound like they havent played 1 and 2, having only played 3 when it came out cuz it had a rockstar logo on the box.
I really hope they remake this game and remove all the loading screens between areas. It really breaks the sense of it being a real place
Remaking this game would be pointless. As technology gets better, the loading times will become non-existent. For some people they already have.
I bought this in 1996 when it first came out. The tank controls were all we had then, duel shock was invented yet. So then it was fine. The only reason why people don't like. It now is because now we have options.
This game was a precursor of things to come, cinematic garbage game loved by non gamers/ casual gamers. The formula is take a fast paced game loved for it's gameplay and slow it down and add a lot of cutscenes, and a lot of talking, in fact just keep talking as much as possible during gameplay. And to top it off throw in some psychology garbage like oh it's different because Max Payne has the regerts and is traumatized, basically give the depressed reddit armchair psychologists a reason to sound deep, also it goes without saying reddit loves these garbage cinematic games that take a badass character and make them vulnerable. Because redditors or too busy upvoting garbage comments and circle jerking to actually take the time to get better at games, so the cycle continues they keep complaining about difficulty, and eat up games that barely count as games anymore. Because as previously stated they suck at games, and want to act like pseudo intellectuals and psychologist, seriously look at any thread started on reddit where the op outright hates a game and gives good logical reasons for it, the reddit slop eaters will come in droves and write essays on why said garbage game is great and then get the op account deleted. Most if not all threads there that have some edge to them are removed, interesting observations and passion for why something sucks is forbidden. It seemed fitting to vent on the garbage that is the regular redditor because they are also in this comment section, and your opinions always suck and it's always obvious where you come from or where you get your ideas from.
Nice review
34:46 at the end of cutscene you can see marcelo running away from the guy kidnaping him
Just listening to you describe the monotony of the gameplay with the music in the background... makes me want to replay the game in its entirety :D There's something disturbingly relaxing about the experience.
HATED this version of the game
it's been a long day for the last couple years but we don't know what we can see each other's in our world but it's like we can only be together for a few minutes to do that we can get a little more fun on this and it is a great opportunity and I can get a lot and some people who do it will not last for you
you never once used ducking to dodge the tentacles.. you just gotta time it right just like the imp fireballs.
Not only is Resident Evil '96 responsible for the rest of the series existing, but it's basically responsible for the zombie subgenre being popular in the way it is today at all, including television and film. Not to mention the survival horror genre. This was a great deep dive, I loved every second of it! I hope you can do a similar video for the second and even third game some time!
I plan to at some point.
Cringe in game form
I'll resume a lot my vision of this game: The god's are the real world humans, the developers (hence, to enter the lion's den and being teleported to Tokyo 2002). The watchers are the players: extradimensional creatures never shown, never named, never talked to, but controlling people (red-eyes sickness - I know Caim does not have this, but we're controlling him and making him kill thousands) and making them actively destroy the world. I understand that certain elements, like the repetitive and hypnotic nature of the ground gameplay, were likely the result of budget constraints and development limitations. However, this repetition creates a sense of desensitization-lulling you into accepting the brutal violence and making it feel ordinary, even though you're slaughtering thousands, children included.
Gotta raise that PP

Bro a hater, not everything is what we like. We all have different taste and unfortunately for you alot of us actually like this game. If you dilike it that's fine whatever but like dude don't go make a hour video ranting about how you think the game sucks, it has flaws yes but again for alot of us it has a really great story and character development. Not trying to rant myself, everyone is allowed to have an opinion ig
It's not about 'taste'. If I explain why something doesn't work, it doesn't work. Why shouldn't I do a long critique of a game? Is meaningful discussion not allowed? No piece of art, entertainment or media is free from criticism.
@@misternolife2018 like I said we are all entitled to have our own opinions and ig I'm wrong here, if you don't like the game then you don't like the game. It is what it is
@@IdfkIdfcYolo Okay, And I'm allowed to make a video explaining why that is. You have yet to explain what I've done wrong here.
@@misternolife2018 like I said you are right, are you fucking stupid or something I said that you are RIGHT. Please excuse his behavior he is drunk, again
There are barely any zombies in the mainantence tunnels for me?
Dead Rising 1 is such a unique experience in everything; storytelling, gameplay, presentation. It's a cullmination of the various golden ages of Capcom as it went through the HD era. It can't get any better than that beyond a remaster. As for the True Ending theme song, whoever it was who put it there is a genius, wraps the entire game up so well, it's just amazing. One of a kind. Especialy with the visuals and the zombie "dance" gimmick based on your own kills.

Can't wait to play the new remaster.
I think it's a cash grab. Charging $40-$50 for a remaster of an 18 year old game with minor improvements, without the original voice cast and charging people extra for the original costumes is ridiculous. But it's Capcom. They're extremely greedy. Always have been. I have no intentions of buying it. Dead Rising (2006) is a near perfect game as I've pointed out in this video. The time and money spent on the deluxe remaster could have been spent on a new game in the series or making a version of Dead Rising 4 that doesn't suck.
@@misternolife2018 Well, if it's any consolation, they DID fix the Cletus boss fight from what I've seen. And they also fixed the Survivor AI and upgraded the controls to be more reminiscent of Capcom Vancouver's 2010 sequel, Dead Rising 2. But, you do you. I'm not here to tell you how to spend your hard-earned money, and neither are you. So let's go about the whole Deluxe Remaster thing in our own ways, shall we?
These videos are really relaxing to listen and fall asleep to, and listening to facts about my favorite zombie game makes it all the better. These are some of the best deep dives out there. Many thanks man :DD

Woah welcome back (I misses the Resident Evil video)
Good to be back.
I honestly wish they just remade Drakengard 1 and 3 for PS5. Just make it simpler with modern QoL stuff.
my brain is broken, you see, as i love the soundtrack to drakengard. i am aware it's awful. i know. and yet..
I have to admit that i fully overseen this game but now i got the bundle for switch with both games and i played portal in one go😂 in the middle of the game i asked myself if i am playing a horror game or a puzzler lol
I like this as much as I like Quake 4. And I love that game to bits.
The support on the video is appreciated. Especially after being gone for 10 months. Its my best performing video since October 2022, so thank you very much for that. I appreciate the discussion in the comments and I've enjoyed responding to them. Next video will be out soon!
I thibk doom needs to go back to its horror roots, they can keep it fast pace, brutal and badass but the scary side and darkness of it all was amazing.
