Great Horned Owl Rescue. Vehicle collision. 2023
Просмотров 20911 месяцев назад
Late last night, close to midnight, an urgent call came in. The driver was on the Merritt Parkway and could not avoid a collision with this Great Horned Owl (GHO) who was in the middle of the lane, and to swerve would have caused a collision with other vehicles. Luckily, the driver slammed on the breaks to lessen the impact, but the result was still an Owl lodged in the grill. Todd responded to...
Osprey rescue 2022

Last night, after 9pm, APCH received a call regarding an Osprey who had managed to become stuck 50 feet up at the top of an Eversource Electrical pole. This bird was at the very top of the pole between high tension power lines and if it flapped the wrong direction, it risked becoming electrocuted. Lucky for us, we have met with the Environmental Team at Eversource in the past to get to know one...
Osprey Rescue. Fishing line 2022

It was one of the hottest days on record for this time of year when we received a desperate phone call regarding a hawk hanging 90 feet up in a tree. The homeowners were defeated after having called the Fire Company and the State Agencies on a Sunday, who all said there was nothing that could be done. Our team took one look at the video clip and leaped into action. It was not a hawk, but an Osp...
Great Horned Owl Re-nesting, 2022

Re-neasting. On 4/14/2022 three baby great horned owlets were returned to the trees after having fallen from a failing nest site. APCH Re-Nesting team fashioned a man-made platform nest and our climber Todd Secki ascended to great heights to install it and then the team sent the three chicks up. Once our team cleared the site, our camera that was left behind to captured the reunion. THIS is wha...

Help us to put an end to the unnecessary secondary poisoning affecting CT's wildlife as a result of the use of Second Generation Anticoagulant Rodenticide Poisons. SGARs, which are the most lethal rodenticide poisons, are killing CT's Wildlife at an alarming rate. Please write your CT State Legislators asking them to support a ban on the use of SGARs statewide and eliminate the use of any of th...

This osprey was impaled by a treble hook which hobbled both feet together. Eventually becoming trapped by the attached fishing line and left hanging from a tree limb 50 feet off the ground. A Place Called Hopes cofounder and climber Todd secki was able climb the tree and bring the Osprey safely to the ground. After a few weeks in the care of cofounder Christine Cummings he was released back int...
Red Tailed Hawk Rescue. Soccer Net 2022
Просмотров 362 года назад
A few weeks back we had received an urgent call regarding a hawk that had become entangled in a soccer net. It seems we have been addressing this issue a lot more than usual lately, as soccer nets, lacrosse nets, holiday decorations, and such are often dangerous and life threatening conflicts for our wildlife. This Red tailed hawk was fortunate to have been discovered and even more fortunate to...

Bald Eagle Rescue. Talon locked 2018
Thank you!🦉
I am learning a lot more about birds. But I have some questions but I’ll probably Google it as well… I’m wondering if the baby fell out of nest because it was mom’s first time and her nest skills were up to snuff? It wasn’t strong or sturdy enough? Not high enough? When baby birds fall out of the nest, why don’t the parents go and pick them up? Are they not able to carry their babies with their beak? I suppose not. I’ve never seen a bird, carrying another bird. 🤷♀️
We're so sorry for your loss. Tess is needed to watch over the animals and birds in Heaven x
With no help I'm assuming the birds would die in the wild? I just found out about talon lock today. It's so fascinating! Thank you for helping these beautiful birds
Oh, Tessie! I cried watching this, how beautiful she was, and how beautiful a tribute. ❤
I’m so sorry for your loss. Tess looked like a badass and nature warrior. She’s with the birds trees sun and moon now.
So sorry. Sending healing energy and strength. May your memories carry her in your hearts.
Sending prayers 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Teamwork!
I love this American Indian song🎵
Thank you so much APCH for all your team does for our Raptors in Connecticut!
Great ending to a tricky situation!
Do some of them survive?
Great 👍 job thanks
That’s a cool 😎 place how do you finance a place like that 🎥👍🦅
👌🏼👍🏻
Awesome!
Graceful, stealthy, and the glowing aerodynamic poop made my day.
Wow that is cool!
So very cool ❤️
I have an interesting question. Can I put 10 Kestrels together?
Sending you ❤️❤️❤️
I copied your information above & in about 5 min., sent off emails to the legislators asking them to fix this horrible problem! Come on people---send those emails!
Very very nice - A Great Public Service Announcement - Keep Up The Good Work ! I'll post this every where !
THANKS Gary.
Most of the alternatives are traps where you have to handle the mice/rats that you have caught . Many people cannot handle the reality of that action . Help us find a better way !
My son came across a pair that were locked up, one was dead and the other one slowly flew away.
O my God! How smart he is? Vow
What flooring would you suggest for a indoor free loft aviary ?
Aw hell no I hope you are okay
Awesome! I used to hear those howls at my childhood home in Glastonbury. Thankfully that town still has a lot of unbroken forest. Thanks for sharing!!!
Thank you for helping those little souls!
Absolutely delightful
Where is the description? What's the purpose of going up to the nest? Edit: I just learned that re-nesting, is putting a young bird back in the nest, I understand now. Good job!
Me. I raised a carrion crow.

Oh my God! 😍💕
Love him and all animals
What a delightful little birb <3
That is an impressive animal, but scary when one considers that it is likely stalking Todd, my friend at A Place Called Hope at Killingworth, Connecticut. Todd was recovering the memory card from the night vision camera tonight.
Sir are you a master falconer
Terrific job guys. Proud of the work you do. CNN are looking for a class commentator Christine. Well done Todd.
Hi, I ‘ve just seen the vlog : just a great place you’ve! I’m from Italy and I’m starting this new adventure with the birds of prey, in particular we’re going to have a bengalesis eagle owl. I’m preparing the aviary and I was wondering if you can give some tips to create a good place for the bird. I can share some photos of the place I’m building. Thanks in advance. Andrea
Hey Andrea. The video explains most of the detail but I would be glad to help you out. If you can, send me some photos so i can have a better idea of what you are building. You can reach me on Facebook at Spirit Hawk Photography or email northcountrytraders@yahoo.com Where in Italia do you live?
A Place Called Hope thank you very much for your answer and availability!!! I live in the north-east part of Italy, in particular in the countryside around Verona. I’ll send you an e-mail with some photos of what I’m building. Thanks again!
