    Lmao saying Jerome compiled the bible?? Are you off your rocker? He translated it into latin! And the reason for this because there were already too many latin translations of dubious quality. And even the skeptical scholars today agree that the books of the NT were written within 100 years of Jesus. Constantine had nothing at all with compiling the bible. If you are blatantly lying and twisting the truth.. how are you any better of these "propagandizers" you critique??

    • @recoverfromcoercivecontrol
      @recoverfromcoercivecontrol 12 дней назад

      Yes, he combined it did a lot of work of compiling it, albeit there were others involved in the decision making process. He then translated it into Latin. Several versions of the NT were written between 80-325. The process of deciding which ones would make the cut and which ones would be declared heretical was quite a long process. Quick 13 minute didn’t have the time to mention every detail.

    • @franesustic988
      @franesustic988 12 дней назад

      @recoverfromcoercivecontrol Umm, you don't understand that there was no "compiling" by Jerome.. he literally translated one book at the time. And there were no multiple NTs written since it is not a single book but a collection of already existing books. So someone talking about "multiple NTs written" is laughable. And as I already said there were many translations prior to his and they translated the same books. If you are talking about gnostic gospels those are blatantly inauthentic and written over multiple centuries, and that is why they were rejected.

    • @recoverfromcoercivecontrol
      @recoverfromcoercivecontrol 12 дней назад

      @ You obviously believe Constantine preserved the most accurate, perfect version of Christianity. You’re free to do so. I don’t believe that. Prior to Constantine legalising Christianity, countless versions of the Jesus narratives were burned by Roman leaders. They were not all Gnostic.

    • @franesustic988
      @franesustic988 12 дней назад

      @recoverfromcoercivecontrol And it just so happens that all these alternative (let's call them that) gospels that we do have are dated by scholars from 2nd all the way to 5th century. This law was the start of the marginalization of eunuchs, trans people. It disobeyed God and went against Isaiah 56 , Matthew 19:12 and saint Phillips mission with st bakos the Ethiopian eunuch. God loves gender diverse people. But the church forgot this on purpose.

  • @ChristianCatboy
    @ChristianCatboy 18 дней назад

    As Jesus plainly taught: "Not everyone can accept this teaching [offered by the disciples, that it is better not to get married at all], but only those to whom it has been given. For there are eunuchs who have been born that way from the womb; and there are eunuchs who were castrated by men; and there are eunuchs who have castrated themselves for the sake of the Kingdom of Heaven. Anyone who can accept this [Spiritual gift/calling], should accept it." - Matthew 19:12 This is really clear, as far as I'm concerned. Jesus affirmed voluntary gender transition.

  • @LupinGaius-ls1or
    @LupinGaius-ls1or 18 дней назад

    There was no ancient concept of “transgender”. It would not have made sense to the ancient mind. It’s still a modern category error. Gnostics are not Christians, they’re pagans using Christian language. The Jewish Christians were not a different sect either. Origen was formally condemned for several reasons, castration being one of them. It wasn’t accepted in his own time. Matthew 19:12 and Paul’s discourse in 1 Corinthians also imply that while celibacy is good mutilating yourself is not.

    • @ChristianCatboy
      @ChristianCatboy 18 дней назад

      The ancients still considered eunuchs to be less than full or true "men". They were a "third gender" category. Matthew 19:12 clearly states that Jesus approved of those "eunuchs who have castrated themselves for the sake of the Kingdom of Heaven", with the bold exhortation: "Anyone who can accept this, let them accept it!"

    Just a couple questions and comments about your video; "Alexandria the great" what? His name was Alexander the Great, explain please. Constantine was only at the council as a mediator and had zero control or influence over clerical decisions. Also, castration is forbidden as it is seen was destroying and/or harming the sacred human body God has given us. With this, the Old Testament was compiled into a bible around 1200 BC and 165 BC and the New Testament was written around the first century AC, even atheistic scholars agree with this. This "sloppy scribe work" is probably removing heretical statements such as people who believed the Theotokis was a part of the trinity or was God (an example). Also, the inquisition was historically quite light upon heresies, so light people killed and burned them at a stake before the inquisition could even trial them. Also, excommunication is the early medieval late ancient? You could just move town, lol, they wouldn't really know.

    • @recoverfromcoercivecontrol
      @recoverfromcoercivecontrol 20 дней назад

      My apologies for the mispronunciation of Alexander (I’m human). The council formed under Constantine was, in my view, a bias selection of Christian representatives, eg., no deaconesses. I believe the castration rule of self castration had more to do with upholding Roman values of masculinity than anything else. Also very odd that it was encouraged in some scriptures. Those dates you’ve cited for the compiling of the testaments are inaccurate - Dan McClellan goes into details of this in his videos. Inquisitions, burning at the stake, and excommunication were not “light” procedures. Simply moving to the next town was devastating for some, like Dante who lost his family when excommunicated. Thanks for your comment and questions.

    • @Noxiuan
      @Noxiuan 20 дней назад

      @recoverfromcoercivecontrol No problem about the ptonounication but thrre was no deaconesses as the Church is patriachal. Castration is actually forbiddne under Deuteronomy 23:1 as removal of sexual organs is forbidden. The dates I provided those are supported bt scholars and if you may link me source I'd be happy to watch it to see further into your opinion to keep this a balanced and civilized debate between us. Although, I should of explained my view on the inquisistions further. My view is based off what the people of the time thought, which is that they biewed them as too soft--of course today we see it as harsh as we view it from modern standards and periodical standards. Of course moving is hard and I get it that but it was possible for those, that is what my statement meant. Thank you for your reply, Lord bless you.

      @ Thanks for being open to alternative perspectives. Junia is one of the most documented examples of a female apostle, and deaconesses were known among early Christianity. These women’s stories were been diminished under the age patriarchal version that Constantine facilitated. I can totally appreciate why castration was forbidden, and that it is mentioned in Deuteronomy. Still, I think it’s nuances raise some interesting questions. Christian women before Constantine had more rights than after. The Hebrews, Greeks, and Romans called for an end to child sacrifice long before Christianity was even established (eg., one of the reasons the Roman’s justified the Punic wars and the - which ironically included the slaughter of children - was because Carthage was a place known for child sacrifice). Abuse comes from power structures that dominate and oppress people. Any ideology is capable of coercive control, including Christianity. Women suffragists fought for women’s rights, some were Christian, some not. Women’s suffrage occurred male suffrage succeeded in achieving the right for all men to vote, prior to that only the rich who owned land could vote. Yes some Christians demanded an end to slavery, other Christians demanded slavery remain because it was approved of in the Bible. The Romans stopped child sacrifice before Christianity was invented. The Greeks and the Hebrews were totally appalled by the Phoenicians behaviour in that regard too. Definitely prefer to live in today’s world, where I’d rate the modern Catholic Church a 4/10. You may be interested to know that during the Middle Ages and renaissance, Islamic women had more rights than Christian women. Islam has not gone backwards at all, Muhamed speaks on how much adultery allah has predestined you to commit, he tells his soldiers that they can and should rape captive women and slaves, but that you have to temporarily marry them for the night or day. muhamed activley calls to kill apostates. you have some good points about things, but are far off the mark on others. so where Jesus says anyone of you who divorces his wife exeecpt on the ground of immoral sexuality commits adultery himself. muhamham says that you gotta have three good reasons. Islam was never a religion of peace. Islam has always spread by conquest and force i wasnt only speaking on the romans with child sacrifice, who officially outlawed it in 97CE how about Carthage a few hundred miles away lol, how about the rest of europe and the americas. did you know that modern tortilla soup is based on Aztec Human soup? i mean, im talking about rights as in God says to treat her like your own body being kind protecting and respectful, not some nebulous thing like voting or earning power. women rights go TOTALLY against ANYTHING that was happening 2000 years ago. sure maybe a Woman CITIZEN of rome would have been protected from the most extreme abuse, but there was no sytematic protections available. I think you hit the nail on the head when you talked about how even most men couldnt vote. its not a god given right to vote, thats governance and outside of the scope of this conversation. oh yeah christianity ended the viking brutality as well do one for the secular state we live in too with its dogmas like evolution, deep time, uniformitarianism, humanism and again child sacrifice. and how you get ostracized for not pushing the unassailable narrative i subscribed though, i disagree with a lot of what you said but i respect your right to say it and its food for thought

His mother's conception being by Zeus parallels Mary's legend of conceiving from God. Many early Christians did not believe she was a virgin, this notion was canonised by the Nicene council.

    Contrary to what this video claims, castrating others was illegal as well. With Castrato singers, there was always the pretense that they lost their male parts due to accidents or that somebody else did it to them.

    • @recoverfromcoercivecontrol
      @recoverfromcoercivecontrol 22 дня назад

      @@str.77 Thank you for adding that clarification which I agree, I did skim over. My understanding is that there was a culture within the 16th century Church that appreciated the sounds of Castrato so much that some poor parents organised for the procedure to be done to their young sons (through illegal means) in order to benefit financially off their singing career. (If women were permitted to sing in the choir Castrato may not have been so popular or necessary.) The fact that the Church allowed this practice to manifest is quite shocking.

    • @recoverfromcoercivecontrol
      @recoverfromcoercivecontrol 22 дня назад

      It should also be noted that castration was only illegal in Rome and/or of Romans, and was permitted in other nations around the Mediterranean (eg. the Mesopotamian region). It could be argued that the Church was being compassionate towards men who had this barbaric procedure done to them against their will. Still, the fact that the council of Nicea mentions self-castration as their first canon raises many questions regarding how and why this was the case. Moving forward in time, the mechanisms of the Church that facilitated the illegal castration of young boys, as was the case of Castrato, is disturbing. These are, of course, minor details in respect to the video being about raising awareness of how Christianity as we know it today was established. To which examining the events surrounding the Nicene council (and subsequently, the creation of the Bible) are important issues to discuss.

      @@GhostScout42 I’m not sure if I explained myself clearly. High priests in the cult of Cybele did it to demonstrate devotion to “The Mother of all Gods” (this cult started in Phrygia and was then introduced to Greece, and then Rome). The practice was done under for various reasons in other places, sometime religious based (purity ideals), sometimes to maintain hierarchical structures (eg., . It was done by some early Christians as a means of preventing lust and adhering to an ascetic lifestyle. I’m making two points in this video 1. The fact that the first canon addressed this their council meeting is interesting (and makes me wonder how common the practice was). 2. The first council meeting set down a lot of dogma and harsh penalties for disagreeing with that dogma, which resulted in a shift away from more peaceful expressions of Christianity, hence it became more cultic. I think I may have skimmed over some details. Will probably make another video that fleshes out all the points in more detail.

I’ve been looking into orthodox Christianity recently and have been learning about other denominations and I can say to you definitively that there are in fact “denominations” that are extremely cultish and even actual cults by definition, I’d say Mormonism and the LDS would be a good candidate for those examples in my humble opinion. We need to look at the history of Christianity in the East and West and what was removed in order to gain control as dogma was created. Constantine removed the original teaching of reincarnation ans Justin made more adjustments a few centuries later. Is it a cult? I'd say it's more of an economic ideology since it shapes reality as a dominate and exploit thing.

    • @recoverfromcoercivecontrol
      @recoverfromcoercivecontrol 28 дней назад

      Thanks for your comment! Questioning what the Constantine (or the Nicene Council under directions from Constantine) removed from Christianity is definitely an important thing to consider. I believe one of the first canons ever written was that priests should not self castrate! (Not sure how many were doing this but I suspect Christianity was already been influenced by other religions, like the Cult of Cybele, even before Constantine’s time.) What are your thoughts on the idea that cults, at their core, aren’t really about the specific dogma they claim to follow? Instead, they seem to be primarily about control-often including financial exploitation as a key element. Broadening the definition in this way could mean that certain political parties, both historically and in the present, might also be seen as cult-like. I’d love to hear your perspective on this broader view of what defines a cult 😃

      @@recoverfromcoercivecontrol Forgive my tardy reply. I was watching some videos about the formation of Christianity as a political ideology from the collapse of the ancient world. It seems there were five different branches of Christianity and the one that won was a continuation of the Roman Empire or debt-based slavery as opposed to previous civilizations where debt was forgiven. When local oligarchies enslaved populations with debt then societies collapsed, which is exactly what we're seeing now. I see you're in Australia. I'm from the USA, which shapes my point of view since the US$ is the weapon of choice or weapon of control if you will of the global elite. If you look at history, you can certainly see how women in particular have been exploited as free labor using religion as a pretext. Patriarchy and its gods are vehicles for imperialism and its lesser spawn colonialism and capitalism. The odd thing is that if you asked the majority of my compatriots about the USA being a violent empire, they would deny it and also the fact that empires always collapse. So there's an element of projection, denial and justification wrapped up in religion - whether a man using it as an excuse to beat his wife or a powerful country using it as an excuse to attack a weaker country. It brings up a larger philosophical question about cults shaping the minds of its members and an ideology like patriarchy creating what we accept as real and worthwhile on a global level. I think religion and science are two sides of the same coin and if religion is for profit then science is also driven by profit. We're living in strange and exciting times when secret agendas are being revealed and people are clinging to reactionary worldviews as a result so any exploration of religion and cults as coercive control is welcome. ruclips.net/video/CmazxjNHVs4/видео.html here's Michael Hudson talking about the history of Christianity as vehicle for empire and debt. Is there deception and illusion in all of this like any cult? You bet.
