IS IT IMPORTANT TO STRETCH?
PHYSIO MOSMAN: www.fitasaphysio.com/
We’ve all been told how important it is to stretch:
to warm up
to cool down
to prevent injury
to help muscle soreness
to improve flexibility
to improve performance
However, health professionals have changed our tune about the importance of stretching.
Research over the last 15 years has suggested static stretching is not as beneficial as was once thought.
DOES STRETCHING PREVENT INJURIES?
No. There is a lot of evidence that stretching does not reduce the risk of injury.
DOES STRETCHING HELP MUSCLE SORENESS?
No. A systematic review concluded that stretching before or after exercising does not confer protection from muscle soreness.
DOES STRETCHING INCREASE RANGE O...

PHYSIO MOSMAN: www.fitasaphysio.com/ In team sports, research shows a strong link between player availability and the success of the team, and that injuries and illness are the most common reasons for athlete unavailability in training and matches. Research in team sports demonstrates an inverse relationship between injury burden and success of the team. Lower player availability is associated ...

PHYSIO MOSMAN: www.fitasaphysio.com/ Lateral hip pain, in the region of the greater trochanter, is commonly greater trochanteric pain syndrome (GTPS). The condition may also be referred to as “trochanteric bursitis” or “gluteal tendinopathy”. Pain originates in the gluteus medius and minimus tendons. It was previously thought the primary source of pain was inflammation of the trochanteric bursa...
TRAINING STRESS BALANCE

PHYSIO MOSMAN: www.fitasaphysio.com/ Managing training load is crucial in injury prevention and treatment. A 2013 paper, introduced the concept of "Training-Stress Balance": Spikes in acute workload are associated with increased injury risk in elite cricket fast bowlers. (Billy T Hulin, Tim J Gabbett, Peter Blanch, Paul Chapman, David Bailey, John W Orchard, 2013.) The authors measured the acut...
LOAD MANAGEMENT

PHYSIO MOSMAN: www.fitasaphysio.com/ Injuries that begin gradually, without an acute incident or trauma, may be overuse injuries, or injuries that result from excessive loading. If all goes well, our bodies adapt to the activity we are doing. The more we do, the more we are able to do. The less we do, the less we are able to do. These adaptations are an essential part of eliciting a training re...
TENDINOPATHY
Просмотров 213 месяца назад
PHYSIO MOSMAN: www.fitasaphysio.com/ Tendons are the non-contracting connector of a muscle onto the bone. When we contract a muscle, the force (or “load”) is transferred through our tendons. Tendons have to cope with a lot of load. The right amount of load will stimulate strength gains. But too much load, too quickly, can cause pain and injury. Tendon pain (or “tendinopathy”) is the tendon fail...
ITB (RUNNER'S KNEE)

PHYSIO MOSMAN: www.fitasaphysio.com/ "ITB" is an initialism of Ilio-Tibial Band. The ITB has a short contractile muscle belly on the side of your hip, and a long, non-contractile tendon down the side of your thigh, that anchors onto the bone on the lateral side of the knee. ITB soreness is a lateral knee pain, called “runner’s knee”. Tendons are the weak link when we overtrain or start new exer...

QUADRICEPS CONTUSION
Просмотров 535 месяцев назад
PHYSIO MOSMAN: www.fitasaphysio.com/ A contusion of the quadricep muscle is commonly called a "cork". Corks result from a severe impact to a muscle, usually from an opposition player’s knee or elbow. The blow mechanically damages muscle fibres, directly at the site of impact, and/or deeper in the tissue through compressing it against the underlying bone. This causes bleeding, swelling, stiffnes...

One of the only people to post a wrap for high sprains 😩🙏 I’m curious - every tutorial I’ve seen has been for low sprains - but is it okay to have this on for longer than a full length of footy match? This wrap looks pretty tight and others I’ve watched have said to keep it less tight but use more tape to keep the stability.

Hey, hey I see that guy has a bump on the left shoulder, which looks like dislocated AC correct? I have the same problem and they suggested me to go for a surgery fixation. Is it necessary, or I can heel up without any surgeries?
