"Chenille - IT" vs. Dritz Bias Tape Review
Hi! I'm halfway through making this and have some questions... I absolutely love it so far but I'm stumped. What are the dimensions of the binding piece? And how long was your suede strip? Need more specifications. Thank you!!
I like to use 3 inch binding. The length depends on size of your project. Make sure your binding goes all the way around your project and you have an addition 6-8 inches. You fold the binding in 1/2 and iron it, then sew it to your project. I put a button hole stitch in the middle for the suede strips and then sew the binding to the project. Suede strips are maybe 18 inches long (you can cut shorter after you sew on to project) I got them at Hobby Lobby in the leather section. When joining the two pieces of binding give yourself room to join the pieces. I would say at least 6 inches. I often stop sewing when I make the last turn on the project. Refer to the video. Thank for watching. This project was so fun , I made two. ruclips.net/video/FcL9Xr2Hduo/видео.html This one I did the ties a little different and show you a different way to join the binding. Let me know if you have any more questions. I would love to see your project after completions. Email me a picture to seejsdesigns@gmail.com
@@SeeJsJourney Thank you so much! Also, what kind of stitch did you use to hand stitch the binding at the end? And where did you start? I'm sort of a beginner so it's hard for me to decode some of the things in the video😭 it's all turning out so cute I’m just afraid to mess it up since its going to be a Christmas gift!
I'm so glad for you. Use the wonder clips and even binder clips will work when you flip the binding to the other side. Much easier. It really doesn't matter what stitches you use. A button hole stich or just a running stitch will work fine. It doesn't matter where you start, the binding will be flipped over to the other side at this point and you just sew it down all the way around the project. You stop where you started at. You will be fine. You really can't mess it up. If for some reason you don't like your stitches, you can always take them out and do it again. We all have done that. Good luck and let me know if I can help more.
I found an old binding video that I did ruclips.net/video/RhNL8a3sL2M/видео.html hope this helps!
Also, I just have to say: it looks like your sewing machine is having serious tension issues. Might want to do something about that, as when it's that bad, your seams can be very weak.
All modifications to this quilt were done by hand. There was no sewing machine involved. If this comment was intended for another video, the tension issues was resolved. Thank you for watching and the comment.
I am curious why you left the old border on while attaching the binding to the quilt top. Why not just cut off the old border and attach binding the same as if it were a new quilt?
Not sure what border you are referring. On this vintage quilt I did have to remove the outside border and I did replace the binding with new vintage fabric. Thanks for watching and the comment.
Love the terrycloth on the inside of the bag, a great idea😊
Glad you like it! It is so soft!
Can't wait to try this pattern!
Hope you like it! I've done several in different fabrics. They turn out great every time. Use a paint brush end to push out the corners.
WE MUST PROTECT THIS WOMEN AT ALL COSTS!
Protection is always welcome. Thank you my new friend!
You always use the most gorgeous fabric! ❤
Wow, thank you! I loved the print of the redwood trees.
Amazing
Awesome - thx
The music is louder than your voice. Just want to hear what to do
Thanks for letting me know that.
Can you not just use batting for these placemats?
Yes, you can use batting but it will be like mini quilts very flexible. With using a foam insert it will be stiffer. It's up to you.
Thank you! This is exactly what I needed to see. ❤
You are so welcome!
The cactus fabric inspired me.
Excellent!
Great idea! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Nice work figuring out what and how to repair, some of the camera work made me dizzy, slow down 😮 thanks for sharing.😊
Thanks for watching, early videos are always a learning process.
Thank you so much for your great instructions. Yours are the best I've ran across for directional fabric. Sending hugs!
I know what you mean. I searched around a lot. I like to do the videos to reminded me on how to do it! Plus if it helps someone else then it is a real plus! Thanks for reaching out and telling me so.
Ma’am I was unable to hear what you were saying because your music overlaying the video was too loud and you were too quiet.

What is that quilt pattern called please?
It is a dresden plate quilt pattern. It was very popular for vintage quilts but can still be found today by searching "dresden plate patterns".
I see you used a total of 7 different patterns of material in making the queen size quilt how much material of each did you Use? Want to make and this will be my very first quilt. It will also be a queen size.
I am a collector of fabric, so I collect until I think I have enough and usually end up with too much. That is where a purchased pattern pays off. I can help calculate yardage but need to know; are you planning on this line of fabric or something different?
So, I did a littler research for you. The Timeless Treasurers West Collections looks to be discontinued (which they do all the time in the fabric world), which means that you will have to really search for that line of fabric. Starting places would be eBay, or Esty. But I did find a pattern that will have yardage for you on Amazon: www.amazon.com/Bigger-Pattern-Scenic-Prints-Finished/dp/B0725DYPFT/ref=pd_bxgy_vft_none_img_sccl_1/145-1284930-0546161?pd_rd_w=K67tL&content-id=amzn1.sym.7f0cf323-50c6-49e3-b3f9-63546bb79c92&pf_rd_p=7f0cf323-50c6-49e3-b3f9-63546bb79c92&pf_rd_r=GEV70CRZX1WRTPM3BS5C&pd_rd_wg=cSgok&pd_rd_r=8bbb7b1e-fe7c-4cba-892c-6de60e95deff&pd_rd_i=B0725DYPFT&psc=1 . If the link doesn't work it is called: Bigger Big Block Quilt Pattern, for Large and Scenic Prints, Finished Sizes: 69in x 89in, 88in x 95in, 106in x 108in. Let me know how it goes.
@@SeeJsJourney Think I am going to give it a try Thank you so very much for going the extra mile for me.
Let me know how it goes. I would love to see a picture when it's done. Seejsdesigns@gmail.com
This is a great tutorial J! I have so many paint brushes and this will help me organize them instead of just jamming them in jars, lol💜
It was such a fast and easy project . My sister-in-law wanted one for her longer brushed that tend to be pricey. Thank you for all your comments!! Appreciated it.
These are just beautiful, love them!!
Thank you so much! And thank you for taking the time to let me know that you like them. The Orange ones I backed with a Christmas green color, so all I have to due is turn them over and I'm in Christmas mode! Happy Holidays!
Such a great idea....I love all the things you've created!
Thank you so much.
Such a beautiful sewing room, would never want to leave. 🥰❤️
Thank you, it's my happy place for sure.
That creeping Charley is very easy to grow. Just snip off pieces of an existing plant and start a new one by sticking them right into the soil of a new pot , no rooting required, I do it all the time and give them away.
That's is what I am doing now. Growing to give! Thanks for watching.
How did you get your Chenille It to fluff up nicely? I just did a sample for a project and it came out of the wash looking like hair, not like chenille. It all clumped together to one side or the other. Looks like a bad comb over. I'm really disappointed. It's almost like it's too long to fluff properly. I used the 5/8 size.
hmmm, I think it looks best if you have more than one row. I tried to sew down the middle of the basis tape and didn't have any problems.. Try it again with more rows. I think I saw that you can brush it a little to fluff it. Thanks for watching. I have two more Chenille -IT projects planed soon.
Nice job on referring to the pattern as you went through the sewing process. I also liked seeing your planning stage with directional fabric...very helpful!!
So glad it was helpful!
Such a beautiful room
Thank you so much, it's my happy place!
Great job
Many thanks!
how did you embroider the bees? did you hand embroider, or use a machine design?
Hi there, the bee design was on the fabric. I hand embroider the bees. I like how their fly pattern turned out using black floss. Thanks for watching.
your tutorial was great. I got my pattern today, and I made my first inside out mat, your tutorial helped a lot.
I am so delighted to hear that. I would love to see what fabric you used. Many thanks for the comment.
Great tutorial!
Thank you very much.
I love them
Thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts!
Happy Easter every one!
Beautiful.
Thank you! Cheers!
What brand do you use for the art alchemy metallique?
They are by Art Alchemy called Metallique /Wax. They used to come in a round tin and now come in a tube. There are different colors, I I like the Aged Brass and Rich Copper is my favorite.
I'm looking forward to this! Thank you J, love your videos 💕
Yay! Thank you!!!!!
