Thank you so much for doing this interview half and half, english and spanish, its very interesting to hear someone speak from the heart in several languages, mother tongue and international Sometimes I wonder if Latinos realise that nordic countries are quite culturally separate from other caucasian groups.. I guess the influence of the usa is so huge, it seems to dominate the understanding of what it could be like to be a migrant? Actually the Nordic politics and the society and the problems and support opperate quite differently.. with a very different history its a bit like comparing chile with portugal itself just because of the latin history, or japan and thailand just because of the asian association, it doesnt mean there is much culture or langauge or attitide or politice or injustice the same. For my perspective, although Omar has talked openly about the racism or bullying in small towns in sweden, his step father went to the house with a bottle of wine to discuss and problem solve with the other parents. The expectation of civility and working together maybe didnt have the best result in that case, but at least it was normal to try this. I cannot imagine that happening in the usa or the uk. I know from other swedish friends, both indigenous and migrant there, the cultural idea is that every person is taken by their own character, their own skill, their own interest in life, not who they are related to or what colour their skin is or their familys skin. I think this is important, although of course it is cultural idealism and has its problems, it is very different atttitude from the legacy of enslaving some and heirachy of skin colours, or importance only because of who you are related to by blood. Omar has freedom there very different to elsewhere in the world, despite it not being perfect. Philisophically, the importance of human rights is definitely one way he can be authentic and free.. in another interview after young royals, i remember he said he cannot imagine not being able to just follow what he wants, he has been so free in his own life. This is partly his bravery, and it is also the culture he is part of, practicing his rights to freedom in a safe place. No doubt, others in different places are not safe to be free, and nothing they do can arrange circumstances to be any different. Then, its a different kind of bravery isnt it. Its not the character flaw of not wanting to be authentic or being too affraid. The threat is real. So is the organisation of human rights. Both can be achieved when human beings work together. When he says he doesnt think about it too much, I think its because there is more general freedom. I think this is worth celebrating, to know it is possible culturally and politically, not only by bravery. Its wonderful he can represent the kind of joy and freedom of authenticity like this! He has worked so hard and had so much fun, and shows us what is possible ourselves, our imagination, our influence, our learning, our support for one another around the world ❤ Beautiful interview, thank you for making me think!
