1:06 Its the SRV -Look at little sister solo moment for metal
The heaviness and precision of a Thrash Metal drummer with the exquisite subtelty of a Jazz drummer. Haake is definitely my all time favorite
His groove is absolutely gigantic as well. Not a groove maker but a trench digger, like Steve Gadd. The sheer force of his Moeller down strokes is absolutely devastating as well. Honestly when he pounds two quarter notes on the snare and floor tom, that for me is as satisfying as any aspect of his drumming; no drummer can get as much mileage out of that simple “bam! bam!” as this dude can.
Props to the guy playing the big bore chainsaw too
This guy could have toured the world putting on clinics, making drumming DVDs, raking in cash as an elite session drummer. He could have been like Benny Greb or Jojo Mayer or Thomas Lang. Imagine being one of the best drummers on the planet and having absolutely no interest in your instrument outside the context of your band that you love. The humility and detachment that shows
That Colaiuta Weckl 80s/90s fusion influence.
Hearing the groove of glints collide is mesmerizing
Definitely one of their best songs, too. This is one of the better “glint’s collide live” recordings that we have.
"high quality sound" from a cell phone. alright bud.
So you really think think in 2006 this is from a cell phone? Did you even experience the year 2006? 🤣
OMG ..that’s why he’s my favorite! Thank you for uploading this \m/
Guys a fuckin metronome. Top notch drummer.
Tomas Haake is the most inspirational dude in drumming as far as I'm concerned. I've been obsessed with Meshuggah since the late 90's when I was in high school and came across the Chaosphere album. These guys are just amazing.
Beast
"Correct." **ends video**
This guy could be in a band one day
Yeesh it's so low
duration: 3:33 what a coincidence e.e
what songs are being performed?
Pretty sure the whole video is the song glints collide
0:30 the drum is tuned to a G 😂
The best thing about Meshuggah is hearing their songs over and over. On the first listen you can lose the 1 beat sometimes but still just get bounced into another groove and when you start to be able to anticipate those shifts coming they HIT HARD!
Excellent point about that rhytmic phenomenon, indeed you can feel 2 grooves depending the hearing perspective in many songs. One of this examples is a kind of test to some people when i do the question "do you hear the <regeton> intro in the new song Light The Shorten Fuse" nobody understand me, only me... 😁
@@FranHn1982 There are so many times in Meshuggah songs where I ask myself "band, please, do you want me to hear this beat _this way_ or _this way?_ :S"
@1:06 What brilliant machine THomas Haake is!! You can tell he is so locked into the groove that breaking a stick is a minor inconvenience in the middle of what is basically a drum solo.
Eloy >>>>
1:56 🤯
Where can I find a full performance of this? Been looking for a while and haven’t seen anything.
Anyone else Catch that this video is 3:33 long?
haha I see what ya did there
Song at 1:58?
Guitar solo of “Glints Collide”
@@adrianthornton-mark3219 thank u

que som de caixa incrível
1:22 dat hit on the china is a fuckin' thunderbolt
I’d sell my soul to satan himself to get my hands on that snare
Why. That's insane
Dumb comment.
Tomas Haake is the shit
Of course the video is three minutes and thirtythree seconds long.
Kind of the plan ; )
Love this bass sound! How I can get this?
The bassist plays at the same octave as the guitars, so the tone is more clear and growly. Also, of course, it's fully distorted like the guitars. He probably has spent a lot of time tweaking his distortion. No idea what he uses and how. He may have some undistorted signal blended in too, to get fuller sounding fundamental notes. Also, very importantly, he picks reasonably hard, at a specific location in the strings. And the incredible tightness with the drums can be also perceived as a significant part of the tone.
He uses darkglass pedals for distortion and an axe fx when playing live shows.
@@rustyshackleford9452 right now im pretty sure they all use quad cortex, but they used axe fx and line 6 stuff before
@@pipespeeps5349 In the studio the bass is usually recorded alongside the guitars so the bass is gear isn’t used separately (I think with the exception of TVSOR , Immutable, and their 7 string days). I’m still not 100% sure what Dick uses for their current live stuff tho.
that bass tone is gargantuan. 10 tons of tone
Haake is a jazz drummer, without a doubt. People comparing him to metal drummers like Duplantier don't get that it's absolutely apples and oranges.
I wouldn’t compare them, but, Duplantier totally is groovy. He took drum lessons for seven years from a jazz teacher. Soo..
Hell yes 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Thanks for sharing, brings the memories of a unique experience back - great sound ! while I was more into invincible prior to the concert I must say this one probably stole the show for me together with DC’s and JC‘s performance. Do you also have invincible by the way ? ;))
Hi there, thanks for watching! I actually have the whole consert. Will put out more songs, just have to mix them first : )
oh that‘s good news ;) - the audio quality is superb, great job !
tools 5th Dimension after the EP they gave birth to.. 7 releases total if you consider salival. 13 years in the makingthe first step was the num and the anger the Second Step was the undertow they had to pull themselves through the third step was the split of Anima the fourth step was the lateralus spiral out he fifth step was 10,000 Days above it all ... the 6th step is August 30th 2019... I would say that is a pretty clear example of Riemann hypothesis and now we are at problem 8
🔥
Thank you

So fucking sick.
Changes pants..
The Yoda of metal drumming...
Tomas isn't so old, he must be Mace Windu.
Because he plays rhythms backwards
More the Gandalf
if you are talking about Star Wars then he is Darth Vader
If Thomas Haake was a movie, he would be either Memento or Tenet.
high quality sound?
The power...
One of the things I find amazing about Meshuggah is how there’s no ego in their playing despite the fact that they’re undisputedly among the best of the best technically. They’re so humble. Beautiful to behold. Maybe they all underwent shroom induced ego death or something...
Closed eye visuals. Pineal gland optics. Maybe lol
@@jackrose8056 Ayahuasca Experience lol
Im not sure but I believe it may be swedish culture influencing that a lot. Opeth is the same way. They are UNREAL musicians like Meshuggah and very humble.
I don't think it was only shrooms but a whole slew of all sorts of psychedelics.
