5:58 Since Kyoto Animation has more control in the Production Committee than the average Anime Studio, it's easy to see why they give the Committee more creative names like those.

I hate the American anime companies now that I live in Japan. Why?? Because I can’t watch anime with subtitles on streaming sites in Japan legally or without a VPN and it’s fucking annoying. Even if that show is on Netflix, because Funimation owns a license it doesn’t have subtitles. 😓

The reason why Disney acquired the streaming rights to Bleach was because they outbid Crunchyroll and by extension Sony (who own Crunchyroll as of 2021). Sony purchased Crunchyroll in 2021 as mentioned before, then in 2022 they acquired anime merch site "Right Stuf" (which has since merged with the Crunchyroll store) , then acquired exclusivity for Chainsaw Man so when the time came for bidding towards the streaming rights to Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War, Sony was dry on spending money and that's when Disney outbid them

The whole discourse these years around monopoly is greatly misguided. How in the world does monopoly (which means government mandated exclusivity) apply to Crunchyroll? A company which is competing with Disney, Netflix, Amazon Prime and few others. At the same time we all complain that streaming is becoming the new cable because of how much we pay monthly for streaming services. I’d rather we have less companies that focus on quality and profitability. Looking for an anime to watch is much easier than trying to watch the latest tv show/movie/sport event. Other than this criticism I found the video highly informative. Wish you best of luck.

I don’t get why these companies don’t use all the money they make to make the experience for users better. When pirating is easier, faster, cheaper and better than why would anyone pay for hard to deal with, slow, expensive worse experiences?

“That’s not the only company name in animé that’s long gone. For more, go back to the olden days…”. …anyone remember Suncoast? That video store in the mall which not only had the latest DVD releases, which sadly, were mostly studios ripping their old VHS, but merchandise for these movies/shows? They were a big reseller of animé home releases. When they went away, I believe the former CEO ended up working for FUNimation.

My brother lives and works in Japan 14 years already. While he didn’t work with Anime, he did work for a translation company for a year and half. Worst job ever is putting it lightly. They operated exactly like what is described. They bid the lowest price to get work, then pile on the work to their employees forcing them to work very long hours and always in crunch mode. My brother thought he would only be correcting Japanese to English translations but they had him do other languages using Google Translate. Yeah WTF. Even with Japanese to English translations they were so bad that he would basically have to retranslate the whole thing again. Sometimes he would get into trouble because the end product was so different from the original “bad translation”. Retarded right? He left years ago, currently works for BOE and teaches English. It’s not the best Job, it pays more than that nightmare job, but still not enough. At least now he has a life. He is gonna get married this year to his Japanese fiancé but he thinks he would need a better paying Job to start a family. The thing that irritates him now that he and his friend is a de facto lead of all the JET program ALTs is the new ALTs are young entitled weebs. They always complain how Japan is not like their home country like duh, have multiple complaints from their schools because they don’t want to do what the school asks, other times they act strangely especially around the kids. They can’t fire them, the only thing they can do is wait for the end of year and not renew them. JET can stay up to 5 years.

5:58 Other companies have done this practice, actually. For example, the production committee of the _One Punch Man_ anime is the "Hero Association HQ".
