    In 2023 still, i cry when i watch the death of Ianto, it is the most unjust and sad death. Whitout Ianto, Torchwood lost his soul, i will never forget this character who marked me for his touching side and also for the beautiful couple he forms with Jack Harkness. Justice for Ianto !

    • @Elkendrien
      @Elkendrien Год назад

      Same, I’m still not over it 😅🥲 The show should have ended after CoE. There’s only so many beloved characters you can kill off without the show losing its soul and after CoE it did lose its soul imho (also, Ianto is still to this day my favourite fictional character 😅). I’m not really interested in a solo-Gwen reboot either (as it has been suggested a couple times). I like Gwen, but not enough to watch a whole show of just her.

      @@Elkendrien ahh I'm reassured to see that I'm not the only one to find his death unfair fifteen years later, As for a series with only Gwen I don't feel it as much even if I like Gwen. But good for "keeping Ianto alive" in my memory I read a lot of fictions there are very beautiful ones, I recommend it 😉

    Couldn't help but laugh at the overblown backlash Ianto's death received, a show run by Russell T. Davies is fairly unlikely to be discriminatory towards gay people. I thought it was brilliant, an unexpected shock in the middle of Children of Earth, well performed by both actors and beautifully sad.

    He sounds so different from Solas in his natural speaking voice! I think I have to watch Torchwood now. Space Ghost Just btw try to listen to Torchwood: The House of Dead ...after the whole show if you plan to watch it (or already did). Cause the way Gareth uses his voice there...lets just say that when I made my friend listen to it, she became suddenly more interested in meeting Solas (before DAI came out :) )

      Space Ghost he has a band called Blue Gillespie - I recommend listening to the song called The Swamp, which is a bit of singing and a bit of spoken word. The spoken word parts that Gareth does sound EXACTLY like Solas.

    • @UpRoaryus
      @UpRoaryus 9 лет назад

      Space Ghost Yeah, it was James Marsters that piqued my interest in Torchwood as well after all the hype I heard about the Kiss Kiss Bang Bang episode... After seeing a clip on youtube, I had to put it on my list just to hear Marsters with that accent again (GOD, how I miss my Blondie-Bear Spike!). I decided to watch it from the first season so I would understand more about the whole timey-wimey thing, since it seemed kind of rather too complex to just jump in at the start of season two with that ep though... I have to say, I had no idea what to expect, and while there were a few puzzling episodes, I stuck with it for the very interesting emotional exploration - LOTS of feels in that show - and the fact that it was the first time I had seen such range given to MALE characters in a tv series. And LOTS of sexual innuendo and wisecracking on the side of that made the show intriguing in its own right, even before it got the extra special treat of Marsters as Capt John Hart. I didn't even know that Torchwood was Who-related until I began to wonder who the writers were that would give such lovely emotional depth to its male leads, allowing them such vulnerability. I turned to a wiki to see if they were primarily female or gay men writing it, and learned that Torchwood was initially an anagram of Doctor Who to keep the pre-production info under wraps to prevent leaked news going viral in the vast fandom. Now I am thinking I have to check out THAT series as well, but that seems like biting off more than I can chew in terms of its established history, and not really sure where to start with that one. Why do you think Who didn't really grab you? (I am thinking that Torchwood is a very different vibe, though , as Who seems more G/PG rated and the very first episode of Torchwood had some pretty graphic depictions of casual sex in a club restroom kicking things off in setting the tone and gets right to two women snogging before the end of it - It's so deliciously naughty, I can't imagine how it was spawned from anything that is considered "kid friendly". ) I was pretty good about parcelling out the first season and a half or so of eps, but i started having some binge watching sessions by the end of season two. and did the remaining two seasons in only a couple of days of marathon sessions. I wish there was more of it, though, because I'd watch it even though they only had a few of the original cast left, but I think too many of the fans quit it after Gareth was gone to keep it afloat. Too bad, since the Gwen character finally got less irritating to me in that last run of the Miracle Day season, and it laid the groundwork for some possible new avenues with it States-side as well. But I think you'd dig the show if it was Marsters that initially brought it to your attention; Definitely think you should check it out, even if the Whoniverse didn't quite take to you. I've never been drawn into it from any of the clips I'd seen of it... found them more confusing that intriguing overall, and even the ones which feature Capt Jack still don't quite click with me even though I know who HE is now. Maybe its because I have trouble with the accents at first, so I don't quite get everything until my brain has a chance to marinate in the rhythms of their speech patterns a bit. They seem to talk pretty fast in that show, and I miss some of the bantering exchanges to the slang and accents. The Harkness character, who is American, makes it more accessible for me on Torchwood, despite it being set in Cardiff since his half of the dialog allows me to understand what is happening and get into the flow of things more easily. I took an English exchange student to my prom in my senior year (I'd only just met the guy at a beach party the previous week but I wasn't going to go "stag" to the senior prom of an all-girls school, so I brought him - I don't even know his last name and never saw him again after that, but it was way more fun than i probably would have had with a boyfriend if I'd had one back then) I remember I spent the entire formal part of the evening mostly saying, "Pardon?" and asking him to repeat himself until I got used to the accent. (It took me several passes to before I finally was able to comprehend when he said "thepostids undertook" as comment on the dinner fare - and even then it was probably owing to the benefit of his impatience causing his deliberate over-articulation as he slowly pronounced each separate syllable on the third repetition of "THE PAH-StaaaH... IS.... UN-DERrr-... COOKED!" I don't know if it was the booze or the benefit of the evening's ear training, but I finally adapted well enough by the after-party to catch everything on the first try. Even despite slight variances in vocabulary,I didn't miss any of the his opinion on the mixed drinks when he pulled a face after taking a swig and declared "This tastes like PETROL!! LOL Good times...)

    Thank you for including the words in the description. RUclips captions don't like the Welsh accent, and it's surprisingly hard to lip read if that isn't your natural accent.

    • @UpRoaryus
      @UpRoaryus 9 лет назад

      Traviling Mystery Nah, its naught to do with the Welsh accent, trust me,. RUclips captions murder EVERYTHING no matter the regionalism or even if there is no trace of accent of any sort. There was a hilarious experiment done with that once, when the people video taped their ""scene" and let youtube provide the CC for the first video, then took the transcript generated by the RUclips captioning and re-enacted the scene using those words instead of the original script to show how much it differed, then video taped THAT and then did it AGAIN using the captions interpretation of its OWN GENERATED TRANSCRIPT of the second video. The results were ridiculous.

    • @TravilingMystery
      @TravilingMystery 9 лет назад

      UpRoaryus I agree with that. However, I have found more videos being more closely to correctly captioned, but there is still a long way to goo for those of us with hearing impairment, or processing disorders.

    • @UpRoaryus
      @UpRoaryus 9 лет назад

      Still some of the software could be at least a bit more accurate if they were half trying- some of the things that it generates are just way off base....Methinks the SOFTWARE has a processing disorder! The best solution would be to actually hire a real PERSON to do it instead of software (translations too, for that matter, but that would be the choice of a society more concerned with its people living well than in maximizing profit at all costs. .. ) Even the professional stuff is pretty piss-poor, from what I've seen, even on shows with a budget large enough to make it a part of post production in the same studio that produced the show. You'd think that would be logical, since they actually have the SCRIPT already so why that isn't up to snuff sometimes makes even less sense... Not everything needs automation. Some things are just better with a human element instead of an algorithm...
