Fixing Drivability Issues On The Supercharged Honda S2000
Go up on flat iron you get lot. More reading
Hey, I see that this video was a year ago, have there been any issues over the span of a year?
Nope no issues
more videos on this in more detail PLEASEEEE
We should be doing a followup video soon! The car is pretty much dialed in now
bro for link ecu for lambda sensor, i have to use the Link CAN-Lambda to connect the lambda sensor? cant i wire it directly to the ecu?
For my specific plug and play I had to use the can bus version, your results may vary.
Love you bro
Hey would you be able to list what to set up and tune 1st, 2nd and 3rd and so on? Like ve table first to be able to start the car and then do ignition timing etc
Sensor calibration, timing light, dial back your spark table, then VE, then finally ignition (preferably on a dyno unless you have knock sensors)
@ man you simplified that well bloody Thankyou a lot legend
So would you say ignition timing is possible while tuning on the public road? I’ve seen people saying you can’t hit all the load cells even with the left foot braking technique
Ignition timing tuning is only possible if you have your knock sensors properly setup or on a dyno. No exceptions. This is how you can hurt your engine tuning
Thank you
I need your help with the MS41 flash tool program. I can't find it on its official website. Could you send it to me?
www.bimmertuningtools.com/product/ms41-quickflash/?srsltid=AfmBOoopjDstIkQAHCZlDwDa1GNAD4OXRS-9ISuPj6DrVUtR7a4vO-OS
14.27 in the video, something is revealed in the grass
Oh wow I'll have to watch that part again!
Is this obd1 or obd2
Obd2 only. Obd1 can't be tuned properly for forced induction without a standalone
I am having similar issues currently due to my fat intercooler. If it's not too much trouble could you post what you ended up replacing it with and how you mounted it? Thanks!
Get your cooling stack as close together as possible, then build a literally air tight duct (I used high strength black gorilla tape to fill in any gaps) to force air through the cooling stack and nowhere else. That's the only thing that worked for me
we all know what that window was on the hood lol
Loving all your turbo content, more about tuning stock ecu forced induction cars please!
I don't tune the stock ecus for forced induction anymore, drivability is terrible
I ended up buying an ms3pnp shortly after commenting this. The seller actually commented on your post in the boosted e36 Facebook group about this video that he had it for sale haha
RSI style manifolds always sound soooo good
Let’s make sure to let the potential DIYers know to check that base ignition timing with a timing light before jumping in it. I’ve seen a couple of goons melt pistons because they were commanding way more timing than they thought they were. Set your solenoid frequency to 19.5Hz with a 10ms control interval. There should be a dedicated Boost control pin, but I’ve been away from the game for a minute. Polarity doesn’t matter on the MAC valve so just set it to normal, but once you guys get it sorted, remember to ramp that boost in gradually on the stock motor to keep the torque under control (drift car I know 🥲, but it’ll help the engine last). Chris, don’t go manual boost controller. Worst case, just rip it on gate pressure til Mike can get you on the dyno, and INVITE ME. lol You guys are badass though for real.
Thanks for the tips!
Mac valves need pwm ground to work best. Double check that output has that function.
Good to know
Would that gm iat work for a link pnp im piecing my similar build not sure what sensors i need
Yeah it will work
Chris sounding like a real BMW now haha
🙇🏼♂️🙇🏼♂️
Cool video ive got the same ecu and love it so far. Im interested on how you set up and tuned the vanos using the software
We'll get into that when we hit the dyno soon
Looking forward to you making a series out of this one.
Currently doing mine, you can remove the smg actuator without cutting (or maybe I got lucky. Disassemble the end connector screw 4mm, pull that out, then the 3 5mm allen, pull the end assembly. Punch the spring pin on the shaft actuator thingy Dissasemble the E12 bolts, then the 13mm nut and 15mm bolt (which need to lower the trans on a jack. Drive shaft disk need to be removed. Then pull the actuator frame out. Now you are left with the pin and dowel to be removed. It can be done with a 2 plate puller. Took me 3 hours for that part including driveshaft disassembly and heat shield
Yeah I think you got lucky because mine was stuck on there
It's easier with a 2 post lift and bringing engine up from the bottom.
Not everyone has access to a 2 post lift 🙃
About to do same install , clutch pedal about level with brake pedal?
I think the brake pedal was slightly higher, I don't have the car anymore so not sure
Do you have tune file bro❤
That's not how this works. I don't give out tunes for free
For anyone watching, the Link g4x for the S2000 no longer requires the notching to accommodate that plug, they move that plug to another location to clear the stock case as is.. The only modification needed will be for the wires to go through.. Just finish the install on mine.
Nice! Thanks for the update
@@CanyonTuned Thank you for your videos that help me alot when choosing what ECU to go with.
What's the rest of the exhaust? Is there a merge crossover (X or Y) or a single exit? Also, get the gearbox upgrade/re-gearing from DeMan motorsport, holy HELL will that make a difference. Porsche wasn't cooking SHIT with this gearbox, TBH. Also, the gear change is more important than the built 4.5L swap, especially if you can only pick one. But even if you eventually do both, you'll be very satisfied by going gearbox first.
The rest of the exhaust is the factory catback with a crossover at the tips. Yeah the gearset is cool but I really don't mind the stock gearing. Everyone complains about it online and it's really not that big of a deal. Especially the $10k cost plus voiding my CPO warranty. No thanks
@@CanyonTuned Ah, fair enough, then. Thanks for the reply and the car sounds great!
Just say vanishing point.
Nice out of context rambling
This is the best c5 video I’ve ever watched and I’ve damn near seen em all. Everything he says should 100% be replaced with better or OEM replacement
Glad it was helpful!
How high does the car need to be to do this pull the engine?
I had mine pretty high up to get the engine and bell housing at the right angle. The main thing is lowering the subframe helps.
Great video series! Is this still your choice for the s2000? I've seen a lot of folks online that dont like the poly bushings.
For a track car yes, people don't like them because they require maintenance
Have you tuned on a the ecu master det3+? Been looking into that for my turbo m50b25 non vanos
For the M50NV I would look into the Link pnp, I believe they call it BMW link+. I'm really not a fan of generic ecus that are made to work using patch harnesses. 99% of the time there's some wiring or setup/configuration issue
One of the best cars ever built i owned a 1988 carrera s coupe with wailetail 3.2 liter 5 spd 16.5 liters of oil 13 to change it top speed was 189 built on the turbo assembly line reliable and fast it was stolen one time it out ran 9 police cars it got away they cought up to it 5 mins later were they left it in simi valley one police officer asked me what da phuc i got in that thing and i said not a thing but a factory 911 bone stock every man should own any type of 911 911c2 911c4 911targa 911 convertible 911 coupe 911 gt gt3 etc. Best car ever built you'll have the most fun you've ever will have in a porsche pre-1996 air cooled flat six cyl stock or no modifications...
Any chance you could come to England and do mine?
I don't even do them in the US anymore lol it's a pain in the ass
@CanyonTuned damn
Nice
Great info 👍
Glad it was helpful!
Hi will u be doing lesson 4, boost/waste gate tuning ?
I don't think so unfortunately. I no longer have a link ecu
For my understanding , you are turning dme to work in close loop so it doesn’t use o2 sensor?
There's a table that controls open vs closed loop based on "load". It's a horrible system, which is why I recommend just going standalone
I got my money on Bulgarian with an ak vs bitchass Tom. Even satan was tryna gang up with the Bulgarian.
Really good guys! Loved it. I would imagine it would be hard to be calm to channel on demand 👍 great job
Thanks so much!
Thanks
Great stuff we need more
OG mike video
how do i figure out which ones is pin 14 & 18 on the connector as nothing internally is labeled
Look at the connector on the car then match it up to yours. It's numbered there
Skip shift? How does the car make you skip a gear?
There's a blocking gate
Hi, my MS41 Flash says 3 Checksumms Need correction . What i can do now?
The software should automatically correct it.
@@CanyonTuned the programm dont flash. I have corrected it online. I read the ecu and Compare it After corrected online and Write the bin new . But its Like the Original ecu
love the s2k diy an track vids
love the s2k content
so i don’t have to fully pull out the torque tube?
Nope, it just needs to be at the right angle
excellent video. I assume this is same for 1990s era mercedes w202 bosch ECU as well. Does chip tuning really help with HP torque for these 90s generation naturally aspiriated cars?
Similar process but someone would have to map out the memory addresses. I.e reverse engineering. Most of the time a couple degrees of timing are added to help with throttle response and a small horsepower gain. It's not super noticeable but I look at it as waking up a lazy engine
@@CanyonTuned thank you. good points
How hard is this burble setting?
It's very mild.
@@CanyonTuned Thanks for the reply :) I'll try this and take this as a base, hopefully my cat's wont blew instantly away xD
