Create Tighter Mixes by Mixing In Key!
G murph! You the real MVP!
I'm counting twice as many beats because I'm counting the tis-tis-tis-tis instead. How do you determine WHICH instrument hit is the beat tho? Or what am *I* counting?
Hello, what hardware and software do you use, for have real time of the bpm of the turntable? thank you
Well I'm having fluctuations between 90 to 177 to any random number it pleases 😭 Just started happening on my all in one mixstream controller..someone said it's dust.. I blew dust used a mini vacuum and went back to normal... temporarily Now I'm loading songs and the default bpm is off -3 to -5 👀 What do I do.. got a big show coming up and been organising my library.. so it would suck to get new gear.. 😭😭😭 heeeeeeelp!!!
That’s on showing on mines, how can I make it appear?
Extremely Helpfull
I'm confused how there is a distinction between setting a cue later in the song (track paused) and playing from the cue. Both seem to need to press the cue button. (I don't my flx 4 yet, just watching a lot of videos). Is it how close or far you are in the track? If you're near the beginning and didn't touch the original cue, it'll start from the beginning. But if you scroll to later in the song it'll see it as you want to change the cue rather than you want to start the song from the cue at the beginning? In that case I'd use shift cue?

I know some guys who have to press frantically the Cue button before lunching their songs and actually make it wrong and not in sync or right time! I never use the Cue button to start the song, just hit Play, always on sync on right time
To each their own! I do a variation of start methods, so whatever works best for you?
How do I connect a mic? To my DJ controller.
1/4" cable my friend! Great channel by the way!
Hey man... I paused after the intro. So, 👍 from the beginning cause I really agree with the intro. We're really stupid sometimes! Anyway, although I had the opportunity to work on all systems, I'm still try to figure it out if it's worth having a mixer + cdjs at home... I don't know what I'll find out in this clip, but again, 👍 for the intro!
I hope it helped you make the right decision for you right now!
@@missiondj6070 After analyzing all my needs and requirements, I made a combination that is not the most popular, but I went for Pioneer mixer (A9) and Denon players (SC6000). Pioneer players are too expensive, they don't necessarily offer anything extra and are completely missing from stores now, and the mixer from Denon does not meet my requirements. I've been a DJ since the 90s and for the passion and pleasure of mixing at home or with friends at a party or barbecue, because the atmosphere of big events no longer attracts me and I've given up on them for years, I think it's a decent setup! Nice video! Cheers!
Appreciate you family
likewise!
Hi! I have the same Pioneer DDJ SX2 Controller. I've set it up the same way, however, I played a song and turned up the effects knob and didn't hear effects on the song.
This is absolute gold
Good looking out bro, I just purchased a new Rane 12 mk2 today & it was doing the same thing, this help me. I thought I was gonna have to ship it back 🤣🤣
Excellent!
Thanks for this. From coming from controllers and as a new guy to turntables. To me it seems that tracking is my issue. A good example of this is when scratching over a down beat the pushes and pulls don’t sound sharp. Any help you can provide would be most appreciated.
Thanks for the video. How to undo (delete) the quepoints?
Can you please come up with new videos like about phrasing and more as you promised in ur videos? It would be very helpful for beginner djs like us please. May god bless you 🙏
Thank you for the question, I have been super busy with a lot in my life recently but I do plan to add more content hopefully soon.

Where is the best place to get original songs?
This was helpful bro thank you 🫡🫡🫡
absolutely!
Thank you!!!
What top 3 FX do you recommend for transitions? Especially for a beginner DJ.
Echo, reverb and flanger.
Very helpful video. I like the idea of using the hot cue as a marker of when to bring in the next track.
Great video. Thank You
Mate! I came across to Serato from Traktor which was solid on BPMs and hated Serato because of the drift! This might have sorted it, thank you!
Thank you so much really useful. Regarding Daniel
i watched this video and now im hooked, loved the effort you put in to teach us, thank you very much very helpful definitely subscribing and im gonna go through all ur video 1 by 1 i know there is some jems in every one😎 thanks again, blessings to you and your family 🙏🏾
Thanks so much!
The first transition didn't sound great while in the studio, but live? I'll take it. I've done much MUCH worse live. I've disrespected J-LO many times.
lol
Hi. Great video. What does the T and D mean? Sometimes they appear next to the beat. Thanks
Thank you for the kind words. I can't seem to find what you are referring to unfortunately..
Your missing the point. Vinyl DJ gets 1 Atempt and 1 only, Everything is first time, we cant just hit re-cue, Reloop or drop on the beat via selecting a new track on the Fly. CDJ Djs can mix on the fly, in fact watch youtube! They play the controller and not the music, most cant play a track longer than 30 seconds. Concidering the Artists bothered to write a 6 min track! Most dont even understand Phasing. Most mix intros and outros only. But Vinyl requires planning, practice at 1 set over and over, always first Attempt, first time! Thats the real truth and Controller Djs Mostly dont understand the basics because they dont actually learn or Ever learnt. Just edit tracks your way and Hope people like it. Thats the problem. Djs = Disk Jocky who plays most of the track entirety, or CDJ Dj = edit tracks, adds effects plays tracks 30seconds how you want it, blending beats for longer than a minute is off the menu.. thats how we Vinyl DJs see it!
Your preference is turntables, noted. That my friend was the point of the video, that everyone has their own preference and that is ok. The fact that you spin vinyl (only) doesn't make you a better DJ (on paper) than someone who spins on CDJs (only). It may make you more versatile since you may potentially know how to do both but not necessarily better since DJing involves a lot more than what the gear can provide like song selection and phrasing (like you mentioned) among other concepts that can add to a DJ's "style". Which I have seen plenty of DJ's on all gear do well, so again my point is well demonstrated by your comment that some people really do stick by their guns for their gear of preference! I like turntables the best on a DVS setup, you like turntables with real vinyl, beautiful. We can all have wonderful sets played no matter what gear we choose, just be a good DJ and try to know all the gear at least a little bit but most importantly (my point) don't hate on others doing their thing with their preference and you'll go far. ✌
Phrase matching isn't limited to DJing with records. A competent DJ can phrase match with any equipment.
Thanks!
Yo I mix 😊
Straightforward and wonderfully demonstrated! You got my sub! ❤
thank you!
Great tip - Thank you for sharing! So now when you go play gigs and load your music onto a USB... Do you delete everything on it and then just drag and drop all of the songs from your music folder?
I really only export songs onto my USB via rekordbox for CDJ or standalone controller use (another vid needed for this) and no I do not wipe it clean ever, I simply just replace the folders on the USB with the new ones I have added to in my software.
I am having an issue on Serato DJ Pro where the effects wont work. Where it shows the 4 decks on this video mine does NOT say 1,2,3,4. Instead in the area where the decks would be listed, on mine it says "Insert Enabled" with the USB symbol next to it. My effects will NOT work at all. I hope you have a little insight on this because I am lost lol.
Can't be determined with just this unfortunately, whats your setup/gear you're using?
@@missiondj6070 im using 2 different setups. 1. Rev-7 2. Rane Seventy Mk-2 mixer / x2 Rane 12 mk2 Obviously using them separately. Im assuming the setting would be different on each setup. Help! 🤣🤣🤣
Thank you bro!
Hi, ive tested the fluctuation with many control vinyls, 4 different turntables and serato sucks at reading the bpms :D. Traktor resolution 0.03 fluctuation with vestax pdx 3000 (wow and flutter is 0.05, so ballpark traktor), serato, 0.2, sometimes 0.3. (almost 10 times more) Even with rubber slipmats and the right cartridge weight. Anti drift sometimes helps, but its imposible to maintain long mixes without pitch riding or playing with the platter. Im a serato user, but i got to give this point to traktor :D.
Yeah, Big waste of time, plus I had to listen to you yap about nothing, the fix doesn’t work
3 minutes you'll never get back again. Sorry it didn't work for you, it did for the others who commented on this video so I wonder what was different about your attempt...?
how did some of my effects got deleted automatically ?
perhaps you were running a trial which showed effects you pay for and that trial ended?
why is the bpm drifting on the right hand track?
Thank you!!!!
you're welcome!
great video and tip! For the love of god leave oyur camera on manual focus so it doesnt keep focusing on your hairy arms! hahhaha
This is something I've never been good at, at least not without entry level decks that have an echo out knob. But this video is pretty perfect because your decks are very similar to the ones I use.
Glad it's helping out!
How can I change the column for the bpm to be at the start of the crate
Simply click on the column header where it says "BPM" and drag it over to the first position
@@missiondj6070 do I have to turn off protect library for this to work
Great video! I just got back into djing after 20 years of absence. You are actually not entirely right about where the cue button originates from: it is from my time 😅 when we got the first cd players with pitch control and pitch bend (plus and minus buttons that have long since been replaced by the jog wheel) there was no intelligence whatsoever in the system. The first thing you'd do, is skip trough the track, looking for the first beat. Yes, manually that is, and just by ear, since there was no display, just a time and frame indicator. One found, you press cue, and used that point to start beat matching, also manually and by ear. That took up like 80 percent of your time and once you got really good at it you could do it in under 30 seconds so you had some time left to make a cool transition 🎉
Thank you for the insight!
yeah let me keep yall posted.
What decks are u using
Pioneer DDJ-SR (discontinued, now there is the SR2 avail)
I notice you said yours was a wave file, mines is not. I bought a converter as well. How do I find my non wave file to convert
Aif file right ?
@@vicksmoka yes. I ended up buying a tascam recorder but I haven't used it yet
