Is the Stevens 334 free-floated? let's find out!
Hey there. Just got home from the Farm & Fleet with my 334. Appreciate your videos. Helped me make the decision to get the rifle. Thanks for the good info on some of the quirks. Just curious why you kept the tag hanging from the trigger guard all that time?
Cutting and welding isn't the best way to get a bent bolt handle. Most of the time I prefer heating up the straight bolt and bending it down and sweeping it back all at the same time in the method common to Mausers and Mosin Nagant rifles. Usually I only cut and weld when doing Butter knife bolt handles for custom Sporter builds. It saves a lot of time on cleaning and shaping the bent bolt handles. It's really easy to burn up a few hours on filing down weld's and polishing steel around the welds. Keep up the good work.
@celmer6 yes you are 100 percent correct! Forgeing the straight bolt into the correct shape is most definitely better and alot stronger. Unfortunately I don't have any oxi-acetylene torches so this method is not something I can do. At one time I had the masuer bolt forge mold jig I tried it with a propane torch and it wouldn't get hot enough.
@@Dartfreak75 yeah I know the struggle on the Oxygen and Acetylene setup. I spent $400 on the Victor 101 torch kit and 50' hose's and regulator's 15 years ago and deposit on the tanks was around $500. Often times I only need it for 5-10 minutes to cut or shape a part. But it's like any shop in that you have to have the tools to get work done.
@celmer6 yep! Someday I'll get one.
i started questioning his judgment soon as i saw the ford sign on the table. LOL. there is a reason no one chambers for one of these and everyone is chambering for the other. my local shop has 7 types of 350 ammo on the shelf and one 35 rem our rural king has 9 choices of 350 and no 35s and there's a reason in over 100 years the 35 has failed to ever really thrive and the 350 has exploded to Winchesters number one seller in just 5. the bottom line is the 350 doesn't need your approval it speaks for its self but love your videos keep up the hard work
@Bearsdenadventurues Lol. I'm a mopar guy at heart but I like some fords too. I love my super duty! Best truck I've ever owned! As far as the the 350 vs 35 you are right about the 350 being more popular and it's called marketing! The 35 rem does everything that 350 does and its 100 years older. Ballisticly the 350 is in no way superior. Same with the 6.5 creedmoor vs the 260 rem. The 6.5 is way more popular and more obtainable than 260 but ballisticly it's not better per say. Thanks for watching I appreciate it and appreciate you taking the time to comment !
@@Dartfreak75 well the poor old 35 had one Major issue when it hit the market in 19 06 the trusty old 30 30 had a 11 year head start thousands of folks had already fallen in love with there 30 30 and the 35 didn't offer enough benefit to sway them over
@Bearsdenadventurues yep you are correct there
I really hope this is my issue. I've changed pretty much everything in my car related to spark. Now, I just gotta find this part on my car.
@jasonmondelo3748 if the ground doesn't fix it replace the ecu. I have multiple trouble shooting videos on this topic. I had an on going issue with it
Like your rifle! Wondering, how has the metal finish held up?
Just bought same rifle in 308 , will look into the Burris scope. Great job on your video. I'm sure to watch for the next one .Thanks 17:17
@@billhelms4227 thank you I appreciate it!
Had to subscribe. Just bought the 334 walnut in 308 myself. Still haven't shot it yet. When I found out you are also a Mopar guy, I had to subscribe. 😅
@Buzzbomb57 Awesome!! Thank you so much for the support and sub! I need to make some new videos soon. It's been to long! Thanks again!

@@RandyArmstrong-jw8hq thanks
You should draw a plumb line then turn the scope to match up with no that s going to be right
@hyregeg9730 as long as the gun is perfectly level that will work good!
Bro why you have a half eaten Dodge just laying the backyard lol.
@westcoastplinkin6559 😄 🤣 hahaha! It was a parts truck for a project I was working on. It needs to go!
@@Dartfreak75 Hey man, I just wanted to let you know. I just received mine today (I live in CA so I have to wait 10 days). But I do not have to push forward and then down to close the bolt. I know exactly what you mean by that as well because I have a Japanese Arisaka that I have to push forward and then down. But for my 334, minee will close down easily without the need to push anything forward. Not sure if it's because it's straight out of the box with 0 rounds fired through it.
As an old-schooler, 3-in-1 oil and I go way back! Works. Thanks for sharing. Have a blessed day!
@jmac6242 thank you for watching! I have alot to learn from you old schoolers!
check it when it rains.....
@benjaminleatham1587 yep humidity and temperature changes things!
Thank you! Nice job at explaining how to install the Burris scope! I just bought that rifle!🤩🤩
Getting parts sourced to rebuild the box in my 65 Dart GT 273 Hardtop coupe.I guess im a Dartfreak too.
does it actually need to come out?
@timemeddlertardis5343 Yes, to properly clean the barrel the breach plug must be removed.
@@Dartfreak75 wierd, on sidelocks it stays in.
@@timemeddlertardis5343 side locks don't have a breech plug. You have to clean the nipple pan with a wire
@@Dartfreak75 yes they do, just because it doesn't come out normally it's sstill there, threaded onto the end of the barrel.
Thanks for the instructions. I’m gonna send my unit to UpFix for $139
How did it shoot?
@hunterjager9538 idk yet haven't shot it yet. I'm almost finished with it. I need to do another video on it!
@Dartfreak75 I'm looking forward to seeing it. I want to do a similar project on a large ring reciver my self and I've learned a lot from your videos. Im curious: Did you reface the receiver? I'm told you want to do that for accuracy but I'm not sure if it's actually necessary. I'm eager to see how accurate your project is when it's done.
Thank you I appreciate that! If you have a lathe or mill, yes it is best to sure up the face of the receiver where it mates to the shoulder of the barrel. If you don't have the means to do it then it isn't a huge deal. I guess it really all depends on what kind of accuracy you want to obtain and the means that you have to build it. Lol
@hunterjager9538 I have a large ring im working on also. I will do a video on it as well.
@Dartfreak75 I'm going to have yo get lathe then lol. This just got much more expensive 😆. Looking forward to seeing that as well.
Alway something, thank you.
I got a banner 2 in 4/12/40 mounted on my Ruger ranch in 7'62/39 and after zeroing it the scope is dead nuts on at hundred yards hope it holds up but I did have one do the same thing and it is on its way back for warranty
I appreciate the rawness of the video! Probably exactly how I'd shoot a RUclips video.
@@Tomas_Mariscal thank you.
Good, when you're done, you can fix the Gremlins in my truck😒. Are you going to the NN500?
@lynnrunningdeer7364 Idk yet I wanted too but idk if time and money is going to allow it. What's going on with your truck?
@@Dartfreak75 I feel ya, there's only eleven days left. Lights working when they want to and the power not going to certain places.
@lynnrunningdeer7364 more than likely a ground. I had one that ran to the drivers side frame right under the gas fill tube come loose and caused all kinds of issues. Start there.
i've seen some of these 334's shoot really accurate, some not so much. If mine won't shoot at least one factory ammo at a hundred yards what this one did at 50 yards ill move it on down the road but that's just me because I'm picky people say
mine was free floated, i've seen some reviews online saying theirs weren't which is weird
I bought one and had to warranty the 1st one as it would not focus, the replacement was doing great and had just got it dialed in when after about 50 rounds through my .308 the lenses popped loose. Have been trying to warranty again and they have changed the customer service and warranty. The process now has been impossible to get assistance. Filled out the online request 4 times and no response. Emailed customer service they sent me back to the warranty website. Tried to get a call back on the service number and left request for call back 4 times and never received a return call. I called in at exactly 9am CT when their customer service goes live and held for over 2 hours, the rep said he would send me an email with instructions, and I had to attach pictures to get the scope warrantied. Never received the email. I called back a second time and held for 6 hours and was disconnected when their cue closed. Very, Very dissatisfied and disappointed! Worst customer service I have ever experienced in my 62 years on this planet!
Thats very unfortunate! I wasn't very satisfied with the return and warranty process either! Although I did get mine warrantied and got a new scope it took a long time and was quite a hassle. I highly recommend burris! There warranty and customer service is amazing and for the price you won't find a better scope. I had a burris droptine with a bent tube that was no fault of the manufacture and they replaced it no questions asked! No receipt no warranty card. I mailed it to them and they sent me a new scope. The whole process took about 2 weeks. It was a very pleasant experience and I have switched to them exclusively! I have bought and owned bushnells for 20 plus years and that banner 2 will be my last unfortunately. You can get a burris 3-9x40 droptine for around 130 bucks. Same price point as the the banners and get alot better scope.
? For you hopefully you will see this and respond. I've been looking at this scope for a while. But can you put this scope on a 12 gauge pump shot gun by chance.
Assuming the shotgun is drilled and tapped and the correct base is installed. Yes It should fit just fine. It would make a good close range slug gun scope
@@Dartfreak75 Yes I have a picatinny rail on it it came pre-drilled by the factory I put the picatinny rail that's I was just looking for a good shotgun scope what do you think I'd get out of it for range
For what ammo slugs?
@@Dartfreak75 sabot slugs and rifled slugs too.
There is alot variables in play. Is the barrel rifled for slugs? Bullet weight? Buckshot? Etc.. for a slug with a rifled barrel and some practice 100 yards is not out of the question. And this scope or more than capable of 100 yards. With buck shot id say 50 yards max.
Love your video. What scope mount did you use?
@learnerkang thank you I appreciate that! The base is what came with the stevens. The rings are weavers quad lock.
I like the looks of the 334 over what savage has been making. I never liked the looks of the Savage 110 bolt. The rear of the bolt looks chopped off and squared. The 334 did a decent job of making theirs look more stylish and finished up like it supposed to look. The stocks are also beautifully carved and finished. I would definitely consider a Stevens 334 for my next rifle if for some reason I wanted to sell what I use now.
@thomasjefferson1457 yes I agree! I have had several savages thru the years and loved them all. But the new ones with the "eco" stock or whatever they call them are just plain ugly to me! Unfortunately ruger jumped on the band wagon with that new modern styling stock I just hate the way they look. I'm sure they are nice with the adjustablity and are comfortable to shoot but I just prefer a classic looking piece of wood!
If you have a harbor freight near you get hot some flare nut wrenches. They are made specifically for lines
@andrewharris373 yea they are nice! I just used what I had on hand to avoid a trip and save money lol.
Thanks
loc-tight and tighten the rail, my screws died

❤❤❤hi
What brand of Chinese distributor is that? It ain`t Mopar.
It's a proform. They are officially licensed by mopar. Even has a mopar badge. www.proformparts.com/product-detail/440-426/mopar-electric-conversion-kit-fits-chrysler-la-engines-1964-1991
@@Dartfreak75 I guess Stellantis got their money.
@@bbivens8263 I don't know what that is supposed to mean
The magazines are one of the two things I wish this rifle had. The other is a threaded barrel. I wish they took AICS mags.
It's a little stiff. Can't just force it through the lips. Michael Scott enters the room. "That's what she said"
😅🤣
just a tip for cock on close bolts use your palm with an open hand to operate the bolt your hand will push forward and down smoothly and your hand can swoop to and from the trigger in one fluid motion
Yep you are correct!
Time to find another throttle plate. Good luck!
The factory generally used body lead and very little filler. I've never seen that much Bondo.
@lynnrunningdeer7364 I'm assuming by 75 they slowed down on lead usage. I read somewhere that only the vinyl top cars got lead in the later years im not sure how accurate that is. But I can assure you that it was factory filler! It was a untouch one owner car when I bought it in 2001.
@@Dartfreak75 I never said it wasn't. I just said I have never seen that amount of Bondo from the factory. As far as stripping paint with the possibility of it raining. Might I suggest cleaning the panels with Muriatic Acid then use 1:1 30% cleaning Vinegar and water. It should be safe for a while after that.
@lynnrunningdeer7364 yea I was alot I never imagined there would be that much! Lol they are primed now. I haven't posted the video yet!
Kinda noisy😒. Hey, start using that Valvoline clean and restore oil. Lake Speed did an expose on it. It seems to work🤷♀️.
@lynnrunningdeer7364 Funny you should say that! I just did an oil change in the super duty with that stuff! Good to see you in my comments again I was wondering where you been! Lol Thanks for watching
@@Dartfreak75 I thought that they cut you off because of some of your content. I haven't gotten a notification in forever.
@@Dartfreak75 you're welcome😊
Have they ever caught the car🤔?
I’m stumped. So I’m doing the exact same job and got replacement pn 5206 and it’s correct, however the first boot is about 1/2” shorter won’t hurt anything to install it, but I prefer to have as much of my yoke shaft covered as possible so it doesn’t get dirty and crusty. I’ve heard people say they squeak and they cut them off and a lot of trans don’t even use a dust boot, but I wish I could find the one that was in it to begin with. Watching your video you have the one I had. If you know the pn I would love to know what it is.
@dakotasclassiccars7246 I will look it up and let you know. The dust boot length doesn't matter as long as it seals and covers the bushing. All it does is keep the dirt out of the bushing. My advice is while your in there replace the bushing as well. That's were the leaks form.
@dakotasclassiccars7246 found it! I got it from transmissionpartsonline.com the part number is 12074D that is for 904/999 73 and up the bushing is 12066.
@@Dartfreak75 that’s it! Thank you!
@@dakotasclassiccars7246 yea buddy! No problem!
@@Dartfreak75 the bushing was my initial reason for having the seal out actually. The yoke had a ton of play and I suspect it was causing the vibration that was experiencing over 40mph. We will see. I’m also going to do the u joints too just in case that is contributing to it. What I want to know is when did u joints get so damn expensive?
Mine would cut off my truck while driving on the old one. Just put a new one on . 4 day after installing. It back to volts dropping. Hit break engine cut off. It would also be Xtreme hot when I touch the ignition module. So it could be not enough ground. I was thinkinv about adding heatsink thermal on back and run a ground wire from battery to it.
Exactly what I came looking for. Thought it was just me. Thanks for the video.
Nice conversion!👍
Thanks
