This came out well before I was born, but I remember my dad took me to see this when my local theater was having an Italian film festival. This made such an impression on me when I was a kid. This movie made me want to be a writer as an adult

Such a beautiful film ❤ I remember when i watched this when i was 8 years old after i first wet the bed. My grandma showed me this movie and i was gobsmacked at its beauty, it’s wonderful and amazing visuals as well as its deep characters. Amazing. 0:12

i remember finding this movie hidden amongst my grandmas things as a kid, it was something they would never have let me watch, so i convinced my older sibling to help me watch it without them knowing. it was an absolutely wonderful movie that i hold dear to my heart; and it helped my sibling and i really bond for the first time, since our age gap felt so big (5 years difference). Not to mention all of the homoerotic subtext that helped me come out. truly beautiful! and the iconic line “if we were really in love, you wouldn’t have missed” gave such a heavier feeling to when Andrey shot Goncharov at the end. God, i could go on about this movie forever!

Right now the only thing that keeps me going in life is Katya 😭😭 i can't believe how well this movie holds up

I grew up in Saint Petersburg and this movie fills me with intense nostalgia . I watched it with my dad at age 8 and at that time Saint Petersburg back then was much better and warm at the time . After that at the early 2000s things start to change to be gloomy and industrial due to many changes including the aftermath of the soviet union fall . Everything started to change and witnessing the city being stripped of its spirit and historical importance down to a cluster of modern plain soulless corner

They couldn’t make a movie like this these days.
