Old Royal Alberta Museum Building
The old Royal Alberta Museum building served Albertans well for decades.
With the new museum thriving downtown, and with costly repairs needed at the former site, Alberta’s government has made the difficult decision to deconstruct the old building to create a new public green space.
We’ll preserve historic elements of the former museum (like the replica "Writing on Stone Wall") and reuse materials wherever possible.
Stay tuned for updates on this transformation!

"I'll take more positive news for 1000..." That is funny! The sad reality is that the opposition member appears not to understand the linkage between investment and I quote "good paying jobs"...and just dismisses the news as "statistics". She also could have put together the massive immigration numbers (a federal forcing) into the "new immigrate numbers - new jobs created" equation...but that to appears to be beyond her capability.

During the NDP tenure, they lowered small business tax. They raised the fucking corporate tax to the same level as everywhere else in Canada. They created tax incentives for job creators in Alberta, instead of just giving a massive hand out. As we can see, you've basically done a redux of some of these NDP policies and spit shined a turd with the addition of your tax hand out. Kansas says hello. That Republican bastion was nearly bankrupted due to tax cuts. Services were destroyed. Kind of like what you shit birds are doing here.

The rich do not need any more fucking money. The people of Alberta need guaranteed jobs. Oil is on the way out, and you fucking idiots have no plan. You've ran a massive deficit and yet you cut the taxes even further now. Meanwhile everyday Albertans are seeing massive increases in expenditures related to their children's education, home and auto insurance, inflation in food costs, and worker protections being chewed up and spit out. Go fuck yourself you lying fucking idiot.

Also, so the implication is now that the UCP wants to institute cameras into the classrooms - does that now mean that the UCP will be requiring families to have access to high speed internet? And if there is no easy access such as in any rural area, is the UCP committed to connecting those communities and homes with fast, reliable and affordable high speed internet? Also, in that case where there is access, what will the UCP do with regards to accessibility towards that high speed internet access? If a family is not able to afford high speed internet access (as Canada maintains some of the highest telecommunications spending in the world and Alberta some of the highest among that) what will the UCP do to ensure that those kids are able to attend their virtual classes? Will the UCP mandate lower costs? Now, before you respond that telecoms like Rogers & Telus are providing low-cost internet access already, these programs also have lower internet speeds (10 mpbs with Rogers and 25 mbps with Telus) with very low bandwidth caps of 100 and 300 gigabytes monthly for Rogers & Telus respectively. Will you be ensuring that all families enrolled in school programs who are able to access those programs be offered unlimited bandwidth so as to not have a negative effect on the learning process? For most families, streaming video that much will cause them to go over that bandwidth cap within days of the month's rollover. How will the UCP ensure that those families are not going to incur data charges for using their internet for school access? Will covering those extra costs be waived or perhaps reimbursed using some "voucher" system? You guys will probably go for that second option considering that's how you want the educational system in this province to be structured.

  • @aaronmarko

Ahhh yes. Couldn't be any simpler. Let's solve the crisis in our education system by supporting distance learning. If only Alberta had implemented some sort of "distance learning centre" before the coronavirus epidemic.

Kind of scary that this whole thing will decide once and for all if you're actually allowed to own your own property in canada, or if the government can at any point make that property Illegal and take it away by force. This could apply to anything they decide to deem dangerous or unnecessary for the public to have. Even non gun owners should be very concerned about that. Personally i hope that dildeau gets thrown in prison for what he's done to canada but that'll never happen.

The Nova Scotia terrorist lost his gun license for an assault conviction. He obtained guns, illegally. He impersonated a police officer, illegally. He painted a car like a police cruiser, illegally. He set fires, illegally. He murdered 21 disarmed people and one who was armed, illegally. Nine he burned to death. Those Canadians died, unable to protect themselves, exactly according to Canadian law. Now the Lieberals have pledged to disarm all of us. By ignoring the thousands of times good guys with guns saved lives, Bill Bliar, Justin Turdo, and all LIeberals, their tax funded media, and confused Canadians, believe it is more civilized for people to be murdered by terrorists than for them to explain to police why their attacker has smoking holes in his chest.

The Liberals do NOT speak for Canadians they don't speak for anyone in Alberta or Saskatchewan and they also don't speak for most rural ridings in Canada ! At best they have 20% of Canadians that agree and support them ! The last election they only won because of the unfair and outdated voting system we have in place still. As an Albertan I don't wish to seperate but I would rather separate into a independent State then be forced to live under Liberal Oppression. The Liberals are doing more to break up this county and alienate the majority of citizens from their kingdom of Toronto.

The prairie provinces have long been the dogs of Canada. The Marintines aren’t well treated either but then to cry out less because they have seasonal work and collect unemployment for part of the year so they gladly take the bribe and don’t complain much. As for my province of B.C., we absolutely love our “feelings”. And truth be told, scary black guns are scary. That’s part of why we like them, plus their effectiveness. But feelings definitely should be part of the equation even if I disagree, because both the far left and far right need to be taken into account when making decisions. I absolutely disagree with this ridiculous ban, and I’m not a huge fan of the three tier license system in general but this is a line in the sand. I have retained a personal lawyer and he has at least 20 other like minded clients who will legally resist this until we’ve soaked up a ludicrous amount of money and paperwork.

Tony Vaporoni nope, probation would be typically applied plus a firearms ban or simple fine with the fine being most likely. Contrary to common belief unless the guns were store recklessly a fine would be appropriate. However for his many other offences which are a genuine threat to law and order....... I’m not completely against significant prison time, confiscation of his property to pay back those he betrayed, (the citizens he swore to serve) and if he’s not repentant a firing squad would send a strong message to all the other undercover CCP agents and traitors.

On top of what was said here, nobody is discussing how the money paid for the confiscated property by the so-called buyback program will compensate only a fraction of the owner's original purchase price of the once legal firearm and will certainly not include ancillaries such as ammunition, or reloading equipment, proprietary accessories, scopes, etc. After the confiscation, a legal owner could be out thousands of dollars for no rational reason. Criminals will not abide.

My personal situation is between $10,000-$15,000 but I have a friend who is into this for well over $100,000 and this is just phase 1. I will change to an MDR, Type 97 or the like and this ban won’t actually change the number of “assault-type” guns in my safes. But they will be unregistered and I will cost the government at least $30,000 in court fees as I have a lawyer on retainer who has at least 20 other clients including himself, two of his sons and his wife. We will all lose our personal cases but this will be a protest and it may allow us to keep our property for an additional year or so and ideally this will be repealed by then. In any case my six property suits will be a flat $100 each to him and worth every penny and will be fought and lost by one of his para legals after as many continuances as possible. (He’s using it as a teaching aid and will write of the costs on his taxes so the bill to the government will be insane.
