All of my life i have read and prayed that prayer, but i didn't really understand what it means. But THIS!!!! THAT THAT prayer really touched me! Happy Holidays.

Wow just watched and made me cry 😢 i have a Deaf child and me and my husband are learning ASL. Am currently taking ASL 3. As the poem said i didn’t know anything about the Deaf culture or Sign Language, but now am learning so much and the best part is am teaching my son his culture and language, we’re learning together 🤟🏼🤟🏼

I was a Certified ASL Interpreter for many years and then taught ASL in a high school for some years. I always assumed being part of the “Deaf Community” meant that yes your ears don’t hear, but you use mostly ASL to communicate. Some deaf and “hard of hearing” people don’t. And being hard of hearing brings a whole set of problems, depending on whether you sign or speak and lipread. And now my left ear hears very little, and I have mild/moderate loss in the right. But am I in the “Deaf World” ? Not much any more. I retired from interpreting and teaching and lived in Scotland for 6 years. The “set of problems” I refer to, is how many hard of hearing people are not fully in either world, not deaf, and not hearing (if their loss is severe). I’m very glad you spoke of kindness and love. I hope the Deaf Community never gets into CRT-like rhetoric. I Hope they never say “the hearing were and are our oppressors” (some definitely have been, but not all). I hope it is never taught that there is “hearing privilege” and we the hearing are hated and made to feel terrible that our ears hear. And now if my hearing gets much worse I won’t fit completely in either world. Whatever the Deaf leaders want to use for a “title”, is not as important as how deaf, hard of hearing, those with or without implants and hearing aids are treated by deaf people and each other. You hit the nail on the head when you said individuals need to treat other individuals with love and respect, and maybe even with an “invitation to be friends”. Just like with race, we ALL have red blood, with Deaf and Hearing and Hard of Hearing, we are all made in God’s image and need to treat each other as “image bearers” of God (or of being Human, however you wish to say it.

But he who fears has NOT been made perfect in love.’

We can address about Racism (and other ISM) after the settlement is over (If it goes well). I do believe racism got the priority because many of people and DCARA Staffs does recognize that being in practice at DCARA. I am sure we will react exactly same if it was sexism or other ISM. My goal is to ensure all staff does feel safe working at DCARA.

A very good summary of the hearing that I viewed as proper steps to clarify what's what with the legitimate situation of the May 21, 2019 meeting and the Board at that time.

Thank you for the summary. this is exactly what i saw at hearing. I do have one question about whole thing. maybe you can give me insight understanding of this situation. May 20 2019 (and May 21 2019) meeting was invalid because they didn't follow bylaws. Old board member is in the charge of it at that time. That mean old board member didn't follow bylaws and they choose to process and/or encourage community to believe in agency agreement when old board member themselves knew it is violate the bylaws?
