Mr Eddie Sweat cared for all his charges. He should have been communicated with by trainer and jockey. He and the exercise rider certainly talked. He never got the recognition he deserved while he was alive. Of all the people around Secretariat Mr Sweat is the one I would want to talk to. Bet he had some fantastic stories to tell.

Eddie was just as important to Secretariat's success as anyone else on the team. People not communicating with Eddie was a big mistake. I'm glad Eddie got to do what he loved and be with and take care of all those great horses. I envy Eddie his job but am glad such a great person was there for the horses.

Eddie cared for and raised the GREATEST horse that ever lived. WOW!!!

Racing does have a dark side. Majority of time a human is involved, it's usually not for the best. Eddie was an exception rather than the norm. Sad fact.

How was Secretariat's time at the Claiborne Farm? I don't think he got the kind of love at the Claiborne like he got from his time with Eddy.

Brings tears to my eyes. Eddie had the greatest job and got to experience Riva Ridge and Secretariat’s career firsthand.

He seemed like a very sweet man who loved his horses.

He was by far the luckiest man on earth with the most famous horse in the world. God blessed him for a reason to be the caretaker for this incredible horse .

It was really a great team. But no one spent more time with Big Red than Eddie.

Only someone who has shared a special loving bond with an animal can begin to understand such a relationship. Eddie was a special person and Big Red a special animal. I have no doubt they both lived better lives because of one another. Their story is very special

There are 20 different divisions of the Eclipse award. There should be one honoring the top groom. Name it after Eddie Sweat. At the very least he should receive the Eclipse Award of Merit. Be sure to read the book on Eddie by Lawrence Scanlan. I read once such was Eddie's relationship with horses, that after not seeing Riva Ridge for quite some time, he visited him at Claiborne farm. Riva was so happy to see his old friend he charged over to the fence where Eddie was standing and almost fell over in happiness.

How great was Secretariat. He made his groom famous.

I've been looking for a tribute to Eddie for awhile. He deserved this because of his exceptional relationship to horses especially Secretariat. RIP Eddie. Job was well done.

Edfie eas part if an incredible team that made Secretariat great. But...Eddie was the foundation and the ithers built ontop of his work. He lived and calmed this horse and was Secretariats companion of trust and love 💕🐎

Early 80's, my 4 daughters, and I, were honored to see Secretariat "up close and personal" a few times. I grew up around horses and Secretariat was the most gorgeous horse that I had ever seen. He really liked my 4 daughters. Me, not so much. He was friendly but he cared more for my daughters. Most horses prefer young girls anyway.
