Why are you hiding them ans keeping all the time in your arms - I would like to see how do they look from all the sides, from upper and what is the style of toebox - anatomical or like a cone which I think have no right to exist because they cause health problems of toes - they simply have no place in that kind of toeboxes
Wasn't trying to hide them. They actually have loads of room in the toe box, at least for my feet.
You forgot one another turn off - they are a god ugly looking shoe 😅
never had an issue with the look but can understand they aren't to everyone's taste.
Thanks for the review. They've just expanded delivery to Australia so I'm keen to get a pair. I'm a UK size 9 / EU 44 in pretty much everything (including the Speedgoat)... So going from your experience I guess that means I should go a size down.
That's definitely what I'd recommend. I tried on a pair of the Kjerag and the sizing is different. For them I felt a 44 would be right. But that said they have a very different feel under foot and weren't for me. Prefer the Tomir for the standard training runs.
@@whytrigavin my pair just arrived in the post. Went a full US size down and they are a perfect fit (look great too in new colourway). Thanks for the advice!
@@LeeSmales great. hope you enjoy running in them
thanks for the video, don t under estimate the Nice course. It is really a very tuff course. depending of the weather even tougher than Kona.
For sure. Not an easy course but for me it’s really the ease of getting there and the chance to be part of the world champs which is a big draw.
NAME THAT BEAT.....I so need to know if this beat is an actual song...
No idea what it’s called. Glad you like it though
do these have an insole or, like the kjerag, not? (the kjerag are sized as if they have an insole, so you can either size down 0.5 or buy your normal size and add an insole)
no they come with an insole. not too thick and I feel there's enough room to remove that one and put ones of your own choice in if you prefer.
lmao are you the tf2 soldier guy? this is so random seeing ppl you remember from years ago later under a shoe review
don't think so. Never been a soldier
Cool experiment. Nice to see that you got faster as well. May have to give it a try myself.
Thanks. Was fun to do.
Very helpful video, thank you! Can you please tell me what size do you have on your Hoka Speedgoat? I want to but a Tomir and I would like to compare the size with Hoka, that I currently use.
Glad you liked it. My Speedgoats are a size EU 44 2/3 or US 10.5
@@whytrigavin thank you!🙏
I would love to qualify for “Kona” not the world championship.
As much as I’d love to go to Kona for the “myth” it is by many accounts a fairly unspectacular course. The conditions make it challenging. I’ll be trying my best for Nice. Kona will have to wait until I move into one of the less crowded age groups.
@@whytrigavin been to Hawaii many times. Also did the half out there so I have ridden the Queen K and the road to Hawi. Also ran on the Queen K. I had goose bumps during the race knowing how lucky I was just to be doing the half. I went for a swim and stood under the big banyan tree. Overrated maybe but also special beyond description for me.
I'll get some some day. Just have to hope IM don't completely move away before I qualify.
This was golden!! Need more views? -> Promo*SM.
Thanks. I’m good.
who prefers Nice ?
Nice does have a very long tradition of triathlon and the bike course is almost certainly better in a different way. I’d definitely give it a go
Me too
This is pretty awesome
Thanks. I think it’s a cool little experiment.
I bet easy to qualify every second year! 😂😂 Kona 24,26,28 ect will be hard cause that’s where people want to go! Kona
Yes and no. Yes because many will want to go to Kona and skip Nice. No because this year a lot who already qualified before the change will switch to Kona, freeing up slots which had actually already gone for the 2023 edition. That’s why the races this year up to August have more slots again.
I’ll also add it’s a very watered down slot people are getting. The “racing world championship “ term should be used very loosely for nice.
that's very true. Already started last year in St George and then again in Kona. There is was a case as well of not the best athletes but often the wealthiest.
I got a massive PB in the half with the vaporfly 2s. Move the laces back a hole and that works. 👌
thanks for the tip. Will give it a try. I have a spring half marathon so will probably give them a real test then.
Totally agree with the alphaflys for full marathon 👍oh and good luck for the half bud.
Thank you. Legbiter TTT was fun.❤
Great to have you with us. Come back anytime
Are you trying to qualify for Nice in September? If so, which race do you plan on doing? Let me know and maybe we can meet up if you're going to be in Frankfurt.
Helpful, especially the sizing part. Thank you. 👍🙂
Glad it was useful.
Amazing idea, and impressive plan from ChatGPT. Would be interesting to see if it would refine the plan based on your current time and mileage (or if it could set workout pace/HR targets)
That's a great idea. As it saves the chats I can go back and continue the conversation. I'm sure it could come up with some suggestions.
Cool. Ich war auch dabei
Nice.
Interesting, what phrase did you use to generate the plan? I tried using it like two weeks back and it only gave me easy/moderate runs based on time. Pretty sure it's not correct lol. My phrase was something along the lines: generate me a 5k training plan with a peak week mileage of 90km...
You can see exactly what I looked for in the first video I did on ChatGPT if you haven't watched it already. ruclips.net/video/gE36YjOQ2LA/видео.html It didn't tell me exactly what pace to run but you should be able to gauge that based on an all-out effort.
Same Problem With The Blisters and that makes me bad whit this shoes but i loved because its very fast ones
Yep. I managed to get through my marathon without any blisters this time but my toenails didn’t survive. You win some you lose some.
Ran in knee deep powder all this week! Love it.
I actually spotted the drawstring for the hood afterwards. On the back. check it out when I turn around.
Were you in Valencia? How did the race go? Or thinking or heading there next year? Registration opens soon. Please feel free to ask any questions I didn't cover.
Nicely crafted Vlog that, Gavin. Have subbed. Well done on the pb. I'm hoping for a similar time next year for London GFA qualification.
Thanks a lot. Really wanted the sub-3 but realistically it was too much. Will get there hopefully next year. Tried getting into London but unlucky in the ballot. All the best for your prep.
Take it easy, then back to work.
For sure. Legs now feel really good but I know deep down they need a good recovery.
Congrats. You rocked that !!
Thanks. Was really tough but super happy.
It’s more of a hiking shoe. As you know! But it saved my bacon in the last 75 miles of the Cowboy 200 because of its very ample toe box. Godspeed and thanks for your review!
I think you could use it perfectly fine for some lighter hiking but it’s not a slow shoe. Wouldn’t want to take it up into the higher mountains though as it lacks the ankle support. For that there is a hiking version.
I disagree with your statements ... Expensive .... was 35 % off of full retail price over here on black friday Difficult to get on ... use a shoehorn ... even when switching from bike to run snug ... thats a good thing in my opinion blisters ... so far I didn't get any toe nails .... lost several over the last 30 years of running noisy ... I can't hear it because the music of my mp3 player is so loud ....
Thanks for watching. If I could find them that cheap then I'd probably buy a couple of pairs to keep for the future. I do use a shoehorn but compared to anything else they are very tight. Fully agree that a snug fit is good. didn't say that was bad. I think the blisters are more related to me having flatter feet which rubs more in the arch support area. but overall these are all little annoyances. like I said the speed does it for me.
@@whytrigavin 35 % off was the best price I saw on black friday but even better were 55 % off for the Alphafly 1 and the Vaporfly 2 so I could not resist to buy them, too.
Crush that marathon!
Thanks
Exciting shoes!!
Wish you well in your race! I like training at tempo pace in this shoe. While I’m a trail runner, the AlphaFly 2 is wonderful on graded dirt roads. The lower drop makes them surprisingly stable off-pavement so long as there aren’t bumps or too many rocks. I have about 70 miles in them so far, all on dirt, and they show no signs of wear. Go up half a size!
Thanks. Not quite sure I’ll hit the 3 hours which is my big marathon goal but I’ll give it a go. The shoe has definitely come on loads since the original vaporfly where there was very little protection from wear. And stability is much better. 👍
Thanks! Just used the Tomir for the final 75 miles of a 200-mile ultra. My feet were swollen and the very wide toe box was appreciated. A versatile choice that would have been too firm for me had I not used a pair of Inov-8 Boomerang insoles. One of the shoes lost some of its midsole stitching after about 100 miles of use. Recommend highly! Troy from Colorado.
Great to hear you like them. Shame about the stitching issue. Seems it could be related to the issue I had in the first pair. As they're still new you might be able to get a replacement.
@@whytrigavin thanks - I just cut off the excess and we shall see how they hold up. They are a little trashed after a hard race in snow and ice - I ordered a second pair but half a size down - thanks again for your review!
Have a great race. Drop a video to so we can see how it goes. You’ll do awesome!
Thanks and will be doing something. Just not sure I'll get much race footage.
Carbon plates will wreck you. Careful. Not worth it for the normal runner…
This is very true. I use them for the races and key training sessions. Rest of the time I'm on the trails or using more cushioned road shoes with no plates.
Why will carbon plates wreck you? How will carbon plates wreck you? Where are you getting this information from?
@@jasonjenkyns5083 I found to was straining on my calf and achilles. Maybe it was just me. I’m 58 years ild and average 35-40 trails miles a week. If they work for you, you should be good to go. My friend had the same experience as me. Good luck. 👍
@@jasonjenkyns5083 as can be the case when moving from one shoe to a significantly different one, there can be a period of adaptation. Carbon plated shoes place your feet in a different position and require muscles to work differently. if you suddenly switch to doing all you running in them they can cause injury. But the same is true for non-carbon shoes. If you're familiar with Newton, they promote forefoot running but also warn you should ease yourself into the shoes with shorter runs.
Thanks for the video. I found it helpful. I would really appreciate it if you kept the shoe on screen a little more next time. Keep up the good training.
Thanks for the feedback. New to this type of stuff but will make it better

Thanks for the nice review and information. Keep the videos coming…

How is the size?
My view is the sizing is a little on the large size. Just finished my review and the video will be up in the next couple of days.
@@whytrigavin that is great. We will be waiting for it!!

How was the grip and did they feel good still without a rock plate
From this short first run it's difficult to give a definitive answer. That said, it seemed very good when it needed to be on stones and roots but not over-grippy on asphalt where it could slow you down. As far as a rocker plate goes I don't think it's needed. They're not really designed as racing shoes and for me personally on the trails I like a little more movement to allow me to feel the surface. I'll be doing a full review with my first thoughts. Video to come soon.
@@whytrigavin Thank you, Ill be looking forward to that
