Customer sent me some pictures and video of their home they completed, so I made a little video out of them. Total house and barn was 1000ft of track and lights, one controller for the barn and one for the house, both synced together. Lots of power injection. Turned out great!

I have a problem, every time I turn off my LEDs all the data is deleted as if it were formatted and I have to manually configure the wifi from my mobile by connecting to WLED-AP and then I configure everything again with the wled app. Tips on why it happens and how to avoid it?
That sounds like an issue with the flash or an actually hardware issue with the ESP. I would start with trying reflash the ESP with wled.
Since I'm watching this a year late, might not be relevant, but updating the controllers solved my syncing problems here

Can you have a segment running and able to turn off or on another segment without effecting the segments that are already on?
if you check the box beside the segment you want to turn off you can turn one off while leaving the other going.
Can you please add more detail about how to have 3 or 4 colours at the same time? I only seem to be able to create a preset with one colour, thanks.
are you trying to make just solid colors? or moving effect like chase 3? Chase 3 will let you select 3 different colors.
@@showhomelighting5840 I was trying to make solid, stationery colours but in the end used Chase 3 as suggested, changed the colours to what i wanted and saved it as a new preset, thanks.
Great video - thank you for the tutorial, just what I needed to get started. I think the trick for me is to do it on the PC, on my mobile the page kept freezing up (likely user error lol)
are you using an app or just connecting directly to the controllers wifi network?
@@showhomelighting5840 I did both options. The app kept freezing on me when going deep into the segments (I had like 15 segments). The PC worked better but every now and then it would error out. I just wiped the flash drive and reinstalled. Seem to help, but the segments don’t act the best which is slightly annoying. I can’t complain though since it’s free

You can't unfortunately, wled only works when you are connected to the same network as the controller.
how do I have smoother transitions with my presets? I'm trying to create a stairs animation, wherein it would light up the steps one by one, from the first step, to the last step. I did this by using a playlist with presets: 1st preset - 60 leds lit up 2nd preset - 120 leds lit up 3rd preset - 180 leds lit up so on... the playlist works as expected, but the transition value is not being applied, and the transition from one preset to another preseit is instant. EXPACTATIONS: since i set the transition state to 2, the transition of the leds from one preset to another preset will take 2 seconds. It will have the same transition behaviour when the led's effect is solid, and the color is changed. GOT: the preset transition is instant, i.e. the leds turn on instantly. my hardware: i am using a WLED flashed controller with esp8266 led strip is a WS2811 power supply provides 12V 5a any help, info, suggestions regarding this would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!
I believe there is a wled user mod for this if you search for it on google you might be able to find it. It take a bit of knowhow to setup for sure.
I didn't have to use philips hue<-- (over priced JUNK)... I just turned on work with Alexa went to the app and it searched and found it.. setup and done... the end :)

Thank you. thank you, thank you! Due to wiring issues, I have two circuits controlled by two ESP-32's. One had a loading presets error. Since each controller has the same presets, I was able to use one to restore everything. And now I have the json files in case it happens again. I thought I was going to have to factory reset and reflash the ESP. You made me a happy WLEDer!
Awesome work! that's what most WLED users need to do, back them presets up because they will randomly disappear at some point.
Is there a way to sync say 3 out of 5 controllers. I have a controller that controls my garage lights, one for my deck lights and one for the porch. My other two are for holiday displays ones a snowman and another a tree. I was the garage porch and deck lights to sync but not the snowman and tree.
Maybe if you created a separate SSID for the 2 controllers that you don’t want synced and keeping them on that separate network.
If you go to the user interface screen, you can uncheck the box that tells the controller to receive commands from other controllers. do that on the controllers that you don't want synced.
May I know what type of cable you use for power injection
We just get custom ones made for us, they are a 16awg 2 wire with a dc barrel connector on the end.

How did You get the LEDs to go from the left to the right instead of center outwards? What part of the setting did u change? Is it in segments or led preferences?
Led preferences, on each output there is check box to reverse rotate that output.
thank you very much for the great videos. I am looking for a way to simulate connecting the ends. I have one segment that ends at the same location as the start. I want it to loop without an obvious seam. Can someone give me hints how to create a continuous loop. I know you cant connect the two end electronically. But visually I want a continuous loop,
I don't, it you would somehow have to set it up to the effects were timed perfectly. Not an easy task

yes just cut a piece of the straight track piece back a bit so you can sneak the wires past
Where can you order these tracks to install myself?
40ft is 24v system and 20ft is 12v correct.
We find with our lights and the spacing we are using that 40ft is sufficient as the power feeds both ways.
please don't show me all the possible things and just show the basic - I am a beginner and need to know how to choose one preset and put it on a timer that will come on. Thanks

Would you say your other track lighting (pucks) are better for those who want more lumens (3 LED vs 1 LED; though I guess the wall wash does help even the brightness playing field)? Because as you shown these version are more hidden in the track and they are 24V so essentially 2x the distance without needing power injection?
This installler put these at the end of the soffit instead of right next to the wall and the brightness was impressive, I would say just as good as the puck lights. I can't post pictures on here but when you use all the lights it just looks like normal puck lights but when you switch to only using every second lights it gives the "cone" wall wash like the govee lights and looks pretty cool. How did you decide GPIO number. I am not sure i have small LED running form 5V Charger. Can you please guide me on GPIO selection please.
Hey, it just depends on which gpio your connected to, but on most esp 32's 15,16,17,18,19 are all fine to use.
Most effects only make sense with their original color presets (defaults). Some effects u cannot change the color palette.
Great job. I had home assistant controlling this but nice to know how to do it in the app. I couldn't figure out how to do an "off' ... gotta save off as a preset - duh...
Very good explanation. Thanks for your time. I have a different scenario. I have 2 ESP32 modules in sync running 2 separate led strips. Is there a way to set the second module as a segment of the first? I could then activate effects which start on the first led strip and end at the second one. Right now simple sync only activates the same effect on both modules which is not my desired behavior.
Sorry I don't believe there is a way to make the second module a segment of the other module, the sync function will only do just that, sync the same effect as the master.

You just blew my mind lol. We have 300+ traditional Christmas lights customers. Now we are offering permanent lights because my supplier in China finally makes them. I put them up on my house and am trying to learn as much as possible before we start installing. your videos are a lifesaver.

Hello - How do I access it from my computer, connected to the same wifi? is there a certain URL?
Just put in the IP address of your controller (which you'll see on the WLED app) into your address bar on your web browser. As long as your computer is connected to the same wifi as the controller it will come up.

What model of falcon controller. Some work and some dont. I can check for you if you know the model number. But yes if the controller is compatible then you can control them with xlights no problem.

I understand how to make presets, but when I change to the preset I want, in the morning I see that it goes back to what it was prior. How do I make it stick?

There is enough room between the light and the bottom part of the track for a flat 2 wire cable yes. I'm going to make a video on the power injection options this week for these lights as it is a little different than our other lights.
I do have the other style of lights that you have and did a DIY install. as an electrical inspector it may be a challange to find flat CSA approved wire i think.@@showhomelighting5840

Hey, I have a question about the WLED program. Is there an option that has a flowing water motion where each LED turns on/off in sequence until all lights are on/off?

Pretty straight forward process, but just to confirm. At the beginning you installed 2 power injection points to the actual controller. But in this install you are only using one power injection line? If you would need to use the second power injection line how would you go about doing that, lets say the house is 180 ft, or whatever ft is required to start using your 2nd PI line, would you still run that line threw the track, or would you cut across the entire house attic?
I don't show it in the video because I did it later, but I went around the other direction from the controller and did the same thing I did in the video injecting power up to 80ft from the controller with that second power injection line. The two runs met at the corner where I stopped in the video.
