Anzac legends of the time , all of them. 👊
Cheers for posting these videos,,,my old man Glenn Williams in a few💯
That was a good race. To me it almost seems like 1985 was less than a decade ago, opposed to the 39 years it's actually been. 8 October 2024
Hiscock and Chivo on the mythical 1100 'Black Piper' homologation special. Wire wheels/wider rims, VM32SS carbs, cams, big-bore mufflers ala Katana SXZ... which is why the mufflers and outer header pipes are black, and the inner cylinders (2 & 3) are chrome.
great racing, so refreshing not to see a knee, elbow, shoulder dragging on the ground
Yes it was a great display of raw natural talent. He was on Yokohama road tyres. They were on racing wets. The punk kid beating multiple national championship and an Isle of Mann TT winner. Interestingly Paul would wind up owning the RGB500 that Denis Ireland was riding in this video. He wishes he still had it now….
The Richard Scott V Kenny Irons battles in British superstock were excellent racing.
Give me this over Moto GP any day 👍
We used to live across the creek by the Feltex carpet factory. Remember these races, Thank you so much for showing them. Great memories, hay bale's and racing fuel
I remember going to Gracefield in 1974 and watching John Boote ride his TZ700. That day, that bike changed racing forever.
I grew up watching this.... great names, great racing....
I remember having such high expectations of the RG500 and being surprised how the F1 bikes dominated. I don’t think k I have ever seen this footage. A very different t perspective from watching g behind the hay bales. Really brought home some memories.
What's he doing now
Richard Scott run a car dealership in Taupo from memory, and Simon crafar does MotoGP and road bike commentating , runs bike training called Moto Jitsu and does endurance racing and bike testing
@malcolmwhite6588 thanks malcolm
@@nigelmoore6519 no worries at all Nigel happy to share a bit of information - Simon is very interesting and has some great videos on his RUclips channel. Very modest. Very skilful.!
@ sorry I put you crook - Simon’s channel is not Moto Jitsu it’s Moto vudu
Side car, so unique! What is really amazing about the video is the camera views, remember this is 1987.
Absolutely golden footage, thanks Ian.
What circuit is this? - it looks amazing !
Ruapuna Park Christchurch NZ
Circuit layout has changed since then.
Great race remember watching this on tv , he went on to ride for Kenny Roberts lucky strike Yamaha for a few rounds in the 500cc world championship, also I believe Simon Crafar was in this race too yet unknown
Woohoo. Loving it. Thanks.
Oh capital f ya! This some of the best racing I have ever seen and the mix of the bikes is done right refreshing! The past is something to behold.
We're ìs the rat in the swamp or òver a bank
I remember that fire...Brilliant footage, commentary, riding !
Quite a lot of Katanas for 1981, what time of year was it ?
November 1981
just plan awesome. Thank you for giving us a little glimpse of Robert Holden magic
Ya gota love the days of " I don't give a Fu%k " I'm Doohan it "
Great racing shame NZ Honda didnt remove fairing on CB1100RB2 made them slower and handle bad
The circuit looks proper scary. Love this era of racing.
They still race there Boxing day
1st SUZUKI GSX1100T D Hiscock/N Chivas, 2nd SUZUKI GSX1100T R Holden/J Pace, 3rd SUZUKI GSX1100T P Daniells/R Scott, 4th SUZUKI GSX1100ET P Waters/???, 5th Honda CB1100R ???/???........

Did Geoff leave a family behind?
Hi does anyone have the 1979-80 6 hr race at Mansfield I’m looking for the Honda CBX Vince sharp was riding when it heat seazed
Great post 👍🏻 The mid 80s, when bikes really started evolving !
Great bikes, great times.
Absolutely .. what a age , pub crawls on super bikes. .. excellent Smithers 😁
all good guys to, only the good die young.
Great video, thanks for posting!
Another Classic. Great stuff. Interesting to see all those Kiwi faces / riders that had international success. On bikes and on the tools. Hiscock, Scott, Williams, Pero, Holden/Toomey, Webb, Pav, ...
Thanks for posting this clip.
This is what real racing is all about. Man and machine. No rider aids, archaic tire design and chassis that flexed like a rubber band. All still cool bikes and hope the riders are still riding. Kawi triples, Z1's, RD 350's, CB500 fours. Was that a Suzuki 500 Titan? Love it......
Cheers for putting that on,sure brings back a lot of memories.Crosby what a legend.
That last corner caught me out 2 years ago. Going alot faster around it than you think. Another 15 feet I would've been in pit lane. Lol Somewhere I have a photo of me sliding with an airborne bike mid barrel roll lol
Did John Boote win? Really pissed off my headmaster when he had to announce his achievement at assembly. Might have been here or a year earlier, but definitely on a Kwaka triple.
Very cool, lots of 2 stroke triples
So glad I found this. Thank you from the USA in florida.
very nice thanks.
Kiwi’s as usual fighting above their weight .. compared to Oz it’s small country , with a small population .. but play with big hearts. you have to give it to them. 👊
NICE VIDEO !!!!!!!!! TIRES WERE RACING TIRES OR STOCK ???????
Treaded race tyres not slicks.
Shaved stock tires ~~~~
#111 Aaron Slight, #91 Mike Webb (Current Motogp Race Director) #103? Brian Bernard, #70 Andrew Stroud, #106 Chris Sutcliffe, #50 Grant Ramage, Great stuff. Thanks guys.
Kiwi Hiscock Brothers V Aussie Mal Campbel and Mick Cole. Peter Fleming.
Neville (Hiscock)had a tragic accident in Cape Town (south Africa) in 1983, Dave became a legend in South Africa.
If only the rain had kept falling …,
Mark. That was an excellent ride. Especially on the weedy asthmatic Nsr400. Against a very talented field. The conditions looked appalling.
