Roads and cycling are only unsafe due to the actions of drivers. Never ride within 1 metre (3 feet) of a parked car. If the door is opened it pushes you onto the road in front of passing cars. Riders are killed this way frequently. It's known as "Dooring". The safest place to ride on smaller side streets is the centre of the lane. That is designed to deter drivers from trying to squeeze past when there's not enough room. Many riders have insurance. Membership to a cycling club includes insurance. In Australia home contents cover often covers bicycles which any damage they cause while riding. Most of road costs are covered from general taxes. Cycling reduces road maintenance costs and delays or prevents new roads being needed. Cycling saves the taxpayer's money, where driving costs taxpayers. Yes, police will act on video evidence. When impatient idiots endanger you life & get away with it they will continue to do it to other riders. Making them face the consequences of their actions is always good. It also makes it a deterrent to other people with the irrational hatred of cyclists. Many companies now make cameras built into the lights. Every front & tail light on a bicycle could be a camera.

not sure from a linguistics standpoint if either accent is inherently easier or more difficult than another but alot of wut yer talking about simply comes down to the fact that the british isles and australia / new zealand is SATURATED with americana they literally start hearing north american accents of all sorts as soon as they start watching t.v., going to movies, listening to music, etc. whereas it absolutely does not work in reverse. now that we have internet it's slowly starting to change but i'm 56 (i'm yankee) and all throughout my childhood exposure to foreign accents in general in the media was extremely minimal. in L.A. you meet ppl. from countries you've never even heard of but the american media (not sure what it was like in canada) was insular to say the least. and that was true well into my adulthood and although i really don't partake of modern media much these days (haven't watched tv in years) i'd guess is still somewhat true even now.

It's probably because we have so many accents crammed into the UK, that we've got a head start, maybe? Honestly, an hour's drive (sometimes less) either way, and the accent is completely different. My mother is from Yorkshire (even after 70 years, she still has the accent, even though she moved at 18), my dad's from Plymouth, & I was born/grew up in Shropshire. My best friends are from (North) London (different accents from East or South London, lol) where I lived for a decade. My BiL is from Birmingham, and my brother lives there, too. I also have relatives in/from North Wales (Gwynedd). I specify North, as South Wales dialect is different from theirs, even when they speak English. And I spent a couple of years in Liverpool, lol. So yeah, I think we have an advantage. Sorry for the ramble.😆👍

Many British accents are similar to American and vice versa. It's mainly the main British and American that are destinctly different and the reason some are so close have something to do with the Pilgrims to America ie Plymouth and Norfolk England amongst other places. American Kentucky sounds like south Kent England.

What what? I’ll admit I have not heard all the accents in the world but a Kentucky accent and a Kent accent are very different. sabotage? there was sabotage on a high-speed line of the French TGV, a large concrete block had been placed on the rails, the TGV hit the concrete block, at more than 300 km/h, it derailed, but as the TGV is the only one built in this way, the train derailed, but it did not lie down, it remained straight! 4 accidents, 3 on TGV express tracks and one accident on a conventional track, no deaths and a few very minor injuries during the 3 TGV accidents on TGV tracks at over 300 km/h and the only accident with deaths, a TGV arrived too fast on a conventional SNCF track, the TGV derailed because it arrived too fast (not enough braking, solely the fault of the TGV train driver) the train left the track, hit a bridge and the train broke up! several deaths!! why think about sabotage, sabotage also happens on planes! in France, a German pilot with mental disorders crashed his plane into the mountain killing all the passengers!

On the little debbies one, we would never eat those products because tbh american chocolate and cream and baked goods taste like utter ass to us like we have swiss rolls (theyre called swiss for a reason) we just have higher quality versions with real cadburys or galaxy chocolate among many others. A lot of those american products look like knock off cheap immitations of our stuff haha. We have an insane amount of baked goods because most supermarkets have bakeries and most people have multiple local bakeries too. Also a loaf of sliced break in the uk is far cheaper and bigger, like 2x the size of the loaf and as cheap as £0.45p. The most expensive loaf in a supermarket would be like £2.50 max. Also m&m's are a rip off of european smarties.

There are a lot of competitions here, with local brands, or small businesses that you can pick, that doesn't have these ingredients that hurt people in different ways. So even if we eat these products, we don't do it in the same amounts, so effects aren't as heavy

we have had our version of sliced bread since 'forever' it's just that our toast bread has 6 times less sugar in it. 6g per slice for you guys and around 1g of sugar per slice for us. sugar content is the only diff. in Scandinavia we usually eat more "brown/ breads" since they often come with more protein and fibers. even if our white/toast bread contains 6 times less sugar it is seen as subpar or for kids since its just energy/carbs (nice for bodybuilders and kids needing pure energy) alot of people go for browner breads, with rye and dif kinds of grains and fibers.
