Easy way to put a Christmas stocking together.
Wow! That was the fastest stocking tutorial I've ever seen! Fabulous!
This is the simplest explanation I have seen.
I have not been able to wrap my head around this. Thank you so much! Absolutely genius.
SO MANY TIMES I have wanted tutorials to “cut to the Chase” just for a visual check. When you’re an experienced sewer, these are the tutorials that truly help!
Thank you for keeping this tutorial on the internet. I used it several years ago for all my children's stockings. Now my oldest is married and her husband will be here. I need to make him a stocking too and I am so glad I can go to this video for help. Thank you!! Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Lol I need help
I know this was posted 7 yrs ago, I ran across it last year but didn't get a chance try it. I couldn't remember the name but I remembered the still shot..hahaha. my dilemma is the cuff. I cannot get it right. I have watched this video so many times that I have it memorized. I cannot figure out the length of the cuff. Is it just long enough to have an inch short on either side? Does that make sense? if the stocking is 15 inches around, is the cuff 13? I really hope you come across this or someone that knows what they are doing. Im sure its a super simple step but it has got me stumped. Thank you.
Pattie, I would cut the cuff about an inch and a half less than the stocking. If the stocking is 15 inches then cut the cuff 13 1/2 inches. It does not have to be exact. You just don't want to sew the ends of the cuff into the seam when you are sewing the stocking together. If you look at the end of the video you will notice she has pinned the corners of the cuff to keep them from getting caught in the seam when sewing the stocking up. Hope this helps
I can't even tell you how much this has helped me put together a Christmas cross stitch stocking! I had absolutely no clue how to go about doing it, as I am a "newbie" at sewing. Thank you so much for sharing. Desi
I will go shopping !!! need list of material how many yard for each material ?!?
How do you attach a Cross stitch?
Thank you...this is the best stocking instructions out there...appreciate your sharing it with all of us.
Thank you. I had read the instructions elsewhere, but your video made everything very clear.
Kudos to you! This is possibly the best tutorial video I have ever seen! I have shared it with many of my friends who are getting ready to prepare their quilts for our up-coming quilt show. Great instructions and camera work!
You give very good, slow, clear instruction. Thank you, now I just have to attempt this! lol
Thanks for all the nice comments.
I have watched many of these but this one worked best for me
Awesome! I'm going to attempt it this weekend. I will "enlarge" my stocking pattern a little to accommodate the fusible fleece. I will let you know how it turns out. Thanks for the great tutorial.
This is just the best and most easiest video on how make a Christmas stocking. I have just made this stocking as per the instructions and its turned out brilliantly. I cannot thank you enough. My grandchildren will be so impressed - I know I am.
I don't see why not. It may take away some room for adding the gifts but If you try that, let me know how it turns out.

Can I also add batting or fusible fleece to the inside for additional stability? I'm looking for a stocking that I can appliqué the outside and this looks perfect..
Very helpful! Thank you:)
I was looking fo rthis video and I found it! I used this video 3 years ago and STILL remembered what the still image looked like!! THANK YOU!! the BEST way to make a CLEAN edge stocking!!
We now use a 1/4" seam and you could use a wider seam on the lining so that it will fit into the stocking more easily. A few other helpful notes are below. Please note the importance of the order of layering the items, so that the stocking hanging loop does not end up under the cuff.
Open the lining halves and lay them on the table in front of you, right side up. Place the hanger (folded in half with raw edges up) one inch from either edge of lining. Lay the cuff piece on top of the lining and hanger, matching the center of the cuff to the seam in the lining (raw edges up). Finally, lay the outer stocking fabric, right side down, on top of the stack. Pin where the hanger was inserted to prevent it from shifting when you sew.
This is so pretty! thank you for posting
Yours was the best explained!
Excellent demo. Thank you!!!
Thank you for the very informational demostration!!!!!!!!
Very nice video demonstration! Thank you.
Awesome tutorial! thank you!!
thank you for the great and easy-to-follow tutorial! Much love from Germany!
If it is the fake fur, I don't see why you couldn't make it the same way, just make sure the edges of the fur don't get caught in the seam when you sew the stocking up.
I'm making a stocking with fur trim on the top - can this pattern be used?
Best tutorial on RUclips!!! Thank You!
Great detail. Very easy to follow. Thanks you so much.
Thank you so much for sharing! For some reason I couldn't get my mind to wrap around a pattern that I had found, but this makes perfect sense!
Wow -=- very easy! I've added to my favourites for next year. Merry Christmas! :)
Terrific job, Eleanor and Barbara! And you've really streamlined the directions. Thanks so much!! Diane
