Thank you!! We do up to 11 exams in the last semester but that can vary. It is similar to alevels or even harder as we don’t get markscheme to exam questions. Exams are written and practical. Hope this helps!!

@@khiaraisabelle Thank youu! would you say it is more biology based because I’ve come to really dislike biology a level 😭 i’ve almost finished all my exams but i’m worried i might fall behind or even not get the grades for cardiff, so i am preparing myself to do a foundation year 😭

@@ak-np1vu Hi so I would say it is quite biology based because there is alot to learn about the anatomy of the eyes and in first year you have to learn about cells, bones and systems of the body. Second year has taught me a lot of neuroscience too. It is alot to take in, as long as you can get over that barrier of biology (which is definetely possible) you should be fine. All the best!

hmm tough question! Much of the practical things such as testing on patients and putting what we know into practice! 😊

Yes of course! I started at the start of February, I feel like doing it in uni is quite flexible, find a good instructor and take lessons each week. Once you passed your theory book your driving test ahead of time 3 months which is usually when you can book it. Because I’m in uni I had no other car to practise in other than my instructors car so expect a lot of hours and make sure you have the budget for it. RUclips videos helped me so much!! Find a good instructor that gives constructive lessons rather than those that just let you drive if you know what I mean. Prep for those lessons and don’t be discouraged if instructors become harsh on you they just want to push you to improve. Take more lessons closer to the test day like 3x per week! Being nervous when starting out is normal but very soon once you get the hang of it you’ll actually enjoy it! I prefer doing it during uni because I felt like uni summer is too short to learn in my opinion. Most students start at the beginning of the year when they come from Xmas break and take their test in the summer.

Amen! I really struggled to maintain discipline to seek God when I felt the pressure of uni. It’s always hard at the beginning, God is always there for you waiting for you to spend time with Him even if it’s just 10 mins in prayer and commit spending your entire day with Him! God bless 🫶🏼

Yes practise exam qs! I would try timing myself with an exam question at least once a week! Put a visible timer in front of you plan you answer and write it. During the week I just make bullet points of what to include for each exam question I encounter.

Ooh that’s exciting! Most people have a iPad and laptop instead of an ipad alone, I use my laptop at home and iPad at uni because it’s lighter. There are people who use their MacBook only but a lot of note taking and drawing is needed for optom so if you prefer handwritten physical notes you don’t need an iPad. I use an iPad because I like all of my notes in one rather than in books to carry to uni. It’s really personal preference never feel pressured to purchase an iPad just because everyone else has one. iPad or laptop either way you can still do well in uni! Hope this helps!

its never too late!! You are not alone. There are plenty of videos on youtube on how to study for your exam in three days or a week, find your method of revision first and take action to make a study timetable to cover all topics. Always write down your weak points so that you can improve them. Have someone to keep you accountable and ask for feedback from teachers. Lots of regular practise from past papers daily/weekly will help you get by so much quicker! hope this helps

Hey, I got an offer from 3 universities for optometry and I am going to accept one of them. Can you tell me can I do another courses or further studies to do surgical procedures or laser aye surgery after MS optometry ??

I know it sounds silly, but I’m booking a holiday in advance, is it ok to miss 2 weeks before the Xmas break - would that be too noticeable, are there exams straight after the Xmas break.

@@toslimaali4472 for us we had clinical exams and clinics to attend which are mandatory especially the clinic exams I suggest you look at the timetable first booking anything and talk to your tutor about this. If you miss clinic sessions you will have to do catch up clinics and if you miss a in person exam you may need to come back in the summer to do it

Hi I’m not entirely sure about that, I do know that some people can transfer internationally into second year here after studying elsewhere but I strongly suggest you speak to your personal tutor about this.
