How's it keegan. Thanks for the positive feedback. I got some silica sand from a friend of mine. The best way I can describe it is that it look alot like pool filter sand just not so course. I rolled a thin coat of resin on the deck and sprinkled a very heavy amount with a corse flour sieve to get it even. Then left it for 24h to set then vacuumed up all the excess sand. Then I rolled a thin coat of poolcoat over the Sand. Only problem is the poolcoat take very long to cure because is put on thin. Alot of guys use 2k paint over the sand.

thanks man appreciate it. i think the problem with the silica sand is the guys sprinkle it of lightly. the bast way is to put a wet coat of resin down and put it on very heavy and just vacuum the excess off. i did a few tests because i didn't want it to look kak.

@theooosthuizen2068 how's it going. My deck was done with 2k and sea sand when I bought but I found it was slippery once we had fish on deck and the 2k didn't last with anchor and chains ect on the deck. The decks nonslip is alot more aggressive now so I'm sure it will be much better. And the gelcoat will be more hard wearing compared to the 2k.

@andrewbouwer4445 how's going. Alot if work but my biggest problem was time I only work on it a few hours a week if the weather allows. Out of the whole rebuild the gelcoat is the biggest disappointment. But like a said it's a fishing boat not a million rand yacht 🤣

@francoismulder2106 how's it going. The problem with gelcoat is it need to be put of thick so it can dry properly a sponge roller put it on to thin then it takes for ever to dry. Yes almost there

@janlabuschagne7234 how's ot going? Yes, I did redo it but lost the footage so I didn't do an episode. I did it with coosa board and bonded it in with 2 layers of 450g chopstrand matting and covered it with 2x 450 chop and one layer of woven roving for some strength

I let the jig hit bottom then I'll jig it up a few times then let it sink to the bottom again. 4 assist hook work well but you need to be super careful when you handle the fish . those hooks are super sharp.

how's it. I strike fairly hard because of the depth water we fish. most of the time there's a bow in the line from the current.

Incredible wieght drop planning on doing the same with my boat

It's alot of work but so far it's worth it. It's going to be a few hundred kilograms lighter and will never get water logged again.

Wow that's looking good so far, tremendous weight saving will surely improve performance as well, well done.
