My serger has a name! Sturdy Durdy!

I saw a Facebook ad for a bike seat called the V-Seat. It is similar to a regular bike seat but without the pointy nose part of the seat. I've been wondering if this would be more comfortable. Are you familiar with the V-Seat?

I was hoping to see where you oiled the main machine - taking the top off.

I have had a 457 since 1969! They are amazing machines! I just wish mine had a stitch counter! I’ve sewn thousands of things on my machine! From my bridesmaids dresses, suits for my husband, my children’s clothes, a wedding dress for a client, clothes for my grandchildren, 100+ burp cloths for baby gifts, upholstery, countless alteration jobs and now making quilts! These very basic machines can do it all !! Straight stitch, zig zag and reverse!! I’ve only had it repaired three times and it was the plastic gear! 55 years and counting!! The original price in 1969 was $99 for the machine and I had a beautiful solid wood cabinet also $99 !! I lost the cabinet in our house fire in 1992. Thank goodness I had my machine out of the case and using it downstairs ! The heat from the fire discolored the top a bit but came out as clean as the one in the video!! They are truly a workhorses! ❤️

There a another part under the machine that you can't see before it goes through that long needle thing so easy to miss tilt the machine up and you can see it I've got one similar to this I'm trying to learn but this is months ago you have probably got it by now it's can of difficult to thread this machine I am just getting started thanks.

Any chance you could show the bottom of the machine and the timing belt? Curious how the gear that's attached to the bottom of the bobbin case functions....mine seems jammed? Not totally sure how it's supposed to spin...

hello I have the same sewing machine - but the bobbin case does not work good, can you help me, or can someone help me? I bought this machine yesterday and it worked good - but it has a few things that do not work anymore (what is no problem - because I only sew normal things ) - mayby I touched something that made this problem? I do not know - now the bobbin case is shaking and the needle does not go properly where it should - the wheel also is involved in this problem - I know it might be no big deal but mayby somebody here has a idea what the problem might be?

When I’m sewing, if I have the same thread on a different spool I won’t even unthread my machine. I will loosen up the clutch and wind the bobbin.

I am so sorry I missed you live. My notifications are not letting me know again. UGH!!! The reason your fabric ends up longer on top is because your feed dogs pull faster on the lower fabric than the top. If you can get a walking foot to use, also called an even feed foot, it makes a huge difference with that problem.

I had old "modern" seving machine it kept doing what your does with not taking the fabrick or chewing it. So my hubby bought for me a cheap sewing machine off Amazon - Brother AE1700 - no more issues. It is sewing butter smooth. I already made 2 quite wonky swimsuits for my Integrity toys girls (I collect vintage Barbie and Fashion dolls lik Poppy Parker and Fashion Royalty from Integrity toys). Im Currently working on tiny dress for Poppy doll and also bought pattern for this dress you currently make to try to make it :) Love your videos :) Oh, you also need to make sure that this dress you are making will fit your doll, as older barbies had thinner waist and bigger chest. Moder Barbies are diffrently shaped. This dress most likely will fit 90s Barbie. I want to adapt this dress for Poppy Parker doll, as she is 60s girl.

I agree, Seving doll clothes is very cute. But it is quite difficult :) I know from experience :)

This is just an idea could you take a TV mount that can pull away from the wall and put a pegboard on it. That way it can be pulled out or pushed in.

I just bought a singer 457 at the thrift store and I have to replace the gear and that’s how I found you. And I love the videos:) love making Barbie clothes my kids always complain when I need them to try them n so I can pin but Barbie never does.

When I was a little girl, I remember hearing my Mom sewing after we went to bed for many nights. That Christmas we received barbie doll clothes one of which was that square dance dress(Cream with tiny red flowers). What a surprise to see you making it. LOL Thank you!
