Godfrey was a world war one veteran who became a singer at the end of the war using his Alto/Mezzo voice. Here are three songs recorded when he was 76 years old.

Wakefield trinity bring home the cup to a huge reception.
In the 1950's Oldham built a great side, and the final piece in the jigsaw as it were, was the acquisition of Derek (Rocky) Turner. Unfortunately, through the shortsightedness of the Oldham committee, they let the great man go after a couple of seasons. The rest as they say is history. Oldham' general decline was matched by Wakefield's great success in the 1960's.

Hi thanks fof your interest in Godfrey, he was amazing...I dont have any further info I,m sorry to say but I may have a few more of his recordings taken on the day as these, I put them on if I can find them.....many thanks...Karl.

Yes I knew his son very well and went to some of Godfrey's concerts.
Wow what a tribute to Wakefield Trinity (WildCats) Where is Neil Fox? I hear they are considering naming the new Wakefield Eastern Relief Road after him.
Hi sarcophagus, Yes would be a great idea to name the road after Niel, I was sorry to hear that Derek Turner passed away last year though......he, like Niel was a super player in his day.
