there's so much nature, cultural sites, and traditional homes that just appealed to us, and definitely calmed our over-stimulated senses, having just come from the bustling city of osaka.
we only had a few days in kyoto, before we set off for wazuka, so we spent our time exploring around our accomodations, the gion district and even the philosopher's path, which turned out to be one of our favourites.

Thank you for doing this vlog! I actually planned most of my itinerary quite similarly to yours before I saw this vlog haha so this is like a sneak peek into what I'll be experiencing soon :). Its informative about the Highlanders Cottage + enjoyable to see what the terrain looks like when I'm hiking Cradle Mountain. Do respond here if you have any recommendations or things I should try. How did you like Highlander cottages? We're booked in to stay there for 3 nights in May next year. We've been to Tassie before, but not to Cradle Mountain.
We loved it! Definitely can get quite chilly in the cottage, but there's electric blankets, heaters and a fireplace to keep you warm. It's also just a short walk to the visitor centre so it's very convenient especially if you plan to hike :)

Hi Gillian! Thank you for bringing us along to NZ & for the detailed itinerary. Just wondering, since you were there in March (supposedly warmer period) - what was the temperature there like? Y’all still look dressed for the cold haha! Also, what time did the sun rise & set then? :)
💗 thank you for watching Celine! I think it was around 12-17 deg on most days over at the South Island and the winds were pretty strong so it does feel a little chilly sometimes. But for the North Island side, it was much warmer - 20-25 deg so we wore thinner layers like a cardigan and that's it! Sunrise was around 7:30am and sunset was 7:30pm! Half a day of sunshine 🌞
January and February is warmer. February is quieter as children are back at school

The GOR drive is certainly beautiful, but it's also one of the main tourist attractions in Victoria, and because it's mainly seasonal (can get very cold in Winter) it's always very expensive. Also as an FYI, we heard during Covid that according to the Southern Rock Lobster fishery in Australia, they need to sell Lobster locally in Australia at $50 per kilo just to break even. That's why most of it is exported overseas to countries that are willing to pay more.
Yeah! We wanted to check it out together, since the last time I visited the GOR was when I was a kid. It's still as beautiful as ever! And wow, interesting about the prices of the lobsters during covid. Seems like they kept the prices up even after though - i saw several recent reviews citing prices for half a lobster going at $50-60! That's pretty high!
@@dayswithyou__ yeah that is a bit of a rip off. Lobster shack in Cervantes WA used to sell half lobsters for $30, but even they sell for around $40-45 now. Everything is soooo expensive these days!

Hello! Lovely to hear that you'll be moving here :) You can try looking for accommodations around more popular areas like West End, New Farm, and Fortitude Valley. Or if you'd like to stay closer to where most of the Asian restaurants/supermarkets are, you can try Sunnybank! If not, Cooparoo, Greenslopes, Woolloongabba are pretty good areas to stay too. Close to the city! Hope it helps :)

@dayswithyou__ Cantonese is sadly becoming rarer these days but there are many other regional Chinese styles now open throughout Sydney which are also very good. We've always enjoyed The Eight or Royal Palace in the city or Golden Unicorn in Maroubra. There are many more authentic and affordable options in suburban Sydney. Enjoy!
