3k carb swap 87 1.3 Samurai

We do a Certified machine 3K carb swap on the Samurai. we ran some basic tests with the stock and 3k carb down near Little Moab to try and get some comparable data. The biggest improvement was low rpm, idle to 2500, with noticeable improvements in all areas. #offroad #diymechanic #samurai #3kcarb #1.3 #adventure

Spent the day with the family at the Delta old school rock crawl. Mother Nature decided to rain on our parade, with a potential funnel cloud sighting. Even after the rain slowed down most the crowd had left, and the competitors were slow to come back to compete. So we loaded up and headed for camp between storms.

What ball joint removal kit do you have , I would like to buy the same so I know that the sleeves fit properly?
I think it's Icon brand from harbor freight, I'll try and remember to look when I'm at the shop to make sure

I was intentionally trying to find my stall points for comparison. Next upgrade would be propane or fuel injection. It also made me realize how horrible the rear brakes perform

It has a coil conversion kit from rocky road outfitters, as far as I know. it's an 8 inch lift. The kit was already installed when I purchased the Samurai

I do, I run the big packout cooler, with a thin storage on top. has a little room around the sides and back for my recovery rope trail, shovel. Only issue I have had is the latch for the cooler getting dust in it making it difficult to remove, only if i go on multiple rides without removing and cleaning.

Not to sure what that double carden driveline came from, but you might want to try a transmission flange from a tracker.
Im not fully sure either most of the mods were installed when i bought it. I've been trying to go through and correct them as i need to. To me, the double carden is completely unnecessary since the driveline angle doesn't seem that bad.
Man that thing sure likes to die on an incline huh!? Start looking for a Suzuki sidekick with the 1.6 16V engine to swap into yours 🤘😎🤗
Its on my to do list, i keep going back and forth on the 1.6 for fuel injection the vw tdi swap, or rebuild the 1.3 and go propane, i kinda like the idea of an under powered rig.
You could always just drop a 1.6 8v EFI head onto the 1.3 and get Petroworks to make you a harness
1 money cycle can probably get your soap and rinse 😊

Samurais are not the smoothest ride or the fastest, but they are definitely fun
Most definitely, I am hoping to replace the 4 blown shocks that will help the ride a little

Do you have to install a toyota transfer case to run toyota axles? I can't seem to find a straight answer
I am not sure, I wouldn't think so. It would depend if the differential was on the correct side. Custom drivelines would most likely be needed

What springs are You using???
I'm pretty sure its the Rocky Road Outfitters 8" coil conversion kit. The kit was on it when i bought it so i'm not 100%

When my mom was young, she was never shown any of this. She used to hate adding oil to her car because they don't have a funnel small enough..... she thought the oil went in the dip stick tube! Good on you teaching valuable life lessons.
Scary
Had a 80s bronco 2 with the 2.8. Removed the throdle body and ran a motocraft 2bbl wired the distrib from 7 wires down too 3. Put an auto trans from an explorer. Removed the body and tubed the hell out of it. Funnest rock buggy ever.

Always thought that 4 cylinder diesel they have in Austraila would bw a great fit in a sammy. Torx monster in a light weight rig. Liked and subbed
They make a conversion kit for the 1.9l vw tdi I've been considering. I kind of like the idea of keeping the original motor and rebuilding and upgrading it.
I miss my 88.5 tin top. First thing i did was order a sammy shop manual and rebuilt the front end did breaks u joints callmini lift and 31s. Always wanted too regear and lock it up but sold it after 3 years. Need too find another one for wify. Hows the coil front sys working? Any issuses with sidehill and body roll? Nice build.
The body roll isn't horrible. It definitely looks worse than it feels from inside. The coils are great, insane travel, 8 inch lift may have been a little big.
