    Some of the leaders are saying " You cannot conquer us, History says others have failed" when they haven't been in a war or even made progress in a war🤣.

    To answer all the questions - yes, Jadwiga was crowned as a king, even tho she was a gitl. Why? As strange as it sounds it totally has sense, it's not just one reason why it was done this way but few of them. - One of them is that in the polish law it was clearly stated that only a king can be the ruler BUT it wasn't stated that the king has to be male so it was a way to go around this rule. - The next one is that in old polish word "królowa" (queen) means literally "wife of a king". "Król" (king) and "owa" (wife of someone) so if you take that together you have "król-owa" (wife of a king). There is no such thing as queen regnant in polish language. - And the last one is that when Jadwiga was 4 she had her "sponsalia pro futuro" with Wilhelm of Habsburg. So basically they were married and they only had to consumate the marriage for it to be legally binding but to do so they needed to reach the adulthood which at that time was 12. When the polish throne became vacant she was only 8 and when she was crowned she was 10. Polish nobles didn't want to see a Habsburg on polish throne and they were hoping to find a different husband for her so to go around this they decided to crown her as a king to be sure that her future husband won't take any power from her.

    best I can tell, what Barbarossa actually says is more along the lines of "You have heard the warning, yet you still seek conflict. Now you will learn, as many before you." and "How do you want to defeat me, who have defeated so many enemies?"

    Her defeat speech says she’s just beginning the good work and wasn’t ready to leave God’s service yet. It’s even sadder if you consider that she died incredibly young in real life too.

    Honestly, I really like Germany's declaration quotes. Especially the one about how this attack will just be another one for the historians. He feels like a ruler that has been through a lot.

    1:40 - As Brazilian, I fell appalled by the civ agenda. Pratically, Brazil turns the life of great people a hell, we thirve on mediocrity and contempt. If a Brazilian is due to gretness, he must emigrate, otherwise he will be pushed into madness here. In 2023 the country reached rock bottom on it.

    I’m pretty sure the Ancient Greek lady there actually said something along the lines of “Do not test the might of the gods, blasphemous person!”. Just a hunch, but here in Greece we’re still taught Ancient Greek in schools, because reasons and one more chance for teachers plugging a pain up our ass, but ye. “Spartans return with their shield, or on it.” was and still is an actual phrase meaning that there’s no going back, but it’s direct translation is nowhere near what she says, it’s “Ή τὰν ἢ ἐπὶ τᾶς”/“I tan i epi tas”.

    • @decean2451
      @decean2451 Год назад

      Back after a quick check, she actually more accurately says “Μήν περιαζόμεθα τάς Θέας δυνάμεος, παρασκευάζεσθαι!”, which is almost definitely “You shouldn’t toy with the powers of the Gods, prepare yourself!”

    Saladin’s subtitles are either wrong or hypocrisy. Firstly it was the tradition of kings to try to kill each other. It may not have happened very often, and if the opportunity arose they would prefer to take the other hostage to ransom instead, but they certainly tried their best to kill their enemies on a regular basis. Secondly Saladin of all people warning against the spilling of blood is just silly. He spilled more than most. At the time.
